    Also, play around with the brow and jawline. Making them more defined can help. Use strait lines.

    If you are going to have a feature, make it defined in general. Make it prominent.

    And scars help because they bring definition. And 'ugly' features can be given an air of manlyness if accented by a scar. The guys got a bulbous nose? Well, give him a scar across it or on his cheek. It kinda gives a feel that he can stand up for himself and these features dont bring him down, they define him.

    Beards help especially with smoother or more boyish features because they bring definition to the chin, lip, and jaw. Same with a moustache without the beard. Its like the 'stripes are slimming' effect.

    My husband doesnt help... (his character is a very manly nord with a huge beard xD)...
    I told him: "I want to make you know an assassin, that is very soft paced, and hides in the shadows" and he told me that hiding in the shadows is not very manly ;____; maybe I should give up on being a man...

    Go for more angles. A squared jaw, a bent nose, more pronounced cheekbones, a weathered face with a five o' clock shadow. Sure there are plenty of pretty men out there but if youre going for a more gruff manly man. Try the opposite of the soft or angular appearances. Role the dot up to the heroic point in the triangle and take note of the features. Play with them a little til youre satisfied with what you get.

    @EstelioVeleth Why don't you try and randomize the appearance, go through several tries and see if anything takes your fancy, then maybe adjust a thing here and there.
    Last 3 characters I actually made through randomize option and gotta say they look really well, they look natural and realistic instead of all the prettyboys with 6packs and perfect women with huge breasts and tiny waists everybody seems to make their characters look like. (Nothing wrong with that obviously, but not my cup of tea).
    You don't have to settle with the random option obviously, but you can maybe "preview" and then make your choices from there.

    Do the opposite of what's attractive of females.

    Females:
    Hight= short.
    Age = young.
    Skin = soft.
    Bodytype = balanced between fat and slim, to the point where the waist looks small and the breasts + hips look mature. A little bit of musclemass doesn't hurt, but is not a requirement.
    Eyebrows = high, equal in shape and position.
    Eyes = big with a little squint.
    Jaw = small.
    Nose = small, balanced and flawless. Nose squint medium or low.

    Males:
    Hight = tall.
    Age = mature.
    Skin = scarred, weather-worn.
    Bodytype = balanced between slim and muscles, to the point where you gain the V-shape of the upper torso, and a little fat to soften the muscles - otherwise you will look like a skinny creep with muscles hanging on like Christmas tree decorations.
    Eyebrows = rough, thick and preferably the inner part of the eyebrows are low while the outer part are high - to enhance the masculinity. They can be uneven, it is acceptable.
    Eyes = big with a lot of squint.
    Jaw = big.
    Nose = crooked, can be big but if you overdo it he will look ***. Nose squint high.

    The hair and hair color is complicated, it really depends on your char's race. Some hairstyles are flat to look at, as if your char have never taken a bath and is greasy as hell. Other hair styles and beards will only move at the lower part of the hair, when you move your char around - so it looks fake and weird. I prefer to keep mine short, to avoid the fake-looking and weird hair movements.

    Your manlydude isn't bad. Looks a bit like some of my characters. If you want it to look more manly, try the 5 'o clock shadow beard and increase the age. Lower the eyebrows and pick a style that actually follows the bone contours. Lower the eyes too and make sure they aren't angling up outwards. You can make them as big as you like, but if you do make them big throw in a slight squint to prevent him from becoming too owlish. Perhaps throw in a facial scar. Just some ideas.

    While i think you're post is quite interesting I don't tend to do well with elfs since some of their features are typically angular here is my character. n4nfKow.jpg?1

    Now here's your guide to the art of manliness.*pulls up a stool and hands you some mead*

    #1) Do not mess with the checks of a man(or nose) we make the best with what we got and wear it with confidence. Leave that to our grandmothers and our mothers. (Do add some squint tho)

    #2) Only make up he wears (if any) is for function only and should strike an aggressive emotion in the hearts of its enemies (or because of some deep emotional ties with it)
    I added that blue paint cause it reminded me of the scots in the movie brave heart and it fit the warrior theme I was going for

    #3) Eye brows should not looked plucked or messed with but natural for the most masculine feeling. Think simple = better. So pull them all the way down to the eyes instead of going "up" but its ok to skew them abit to give them a "wtf you lookin at". Manliness means simple, straight to the point, and your face should show some aggression that you mean what you say; say what you mean and don't stand for BullSht.

    #4) Face shape means you'll have to go inbetween heroic and angular because in his young years he lived a hard life (or have a dark and mysterious past) Which means he is neither heroic or sinister looking but both because he is the result of his decisions.

    #5) Hair typically isnt well kept... or important enough that it looks like the man might have spent hours in front of a mirror trying to look like a princes. Remember this age and era you're out questing in rain, snow, etc. Hair is not going to be fabulous. A man is just happy he has hair.

    #6) Muscles matter. The kind that you get from killing and taking you're next biggest challenge. That doesnt mean you make him have gigantic man-boobs... cause thats weird and could be a sign he has played with them. Or arms or legs or hands... adjust it at most 3/4s of the way toward the maximum for starters except the overall muscles slider.

    #7) Facial hair... We get up and get right to it ..or not.... either way we're not worried about it looking clean or trimmed if my life is on the line... So go with the no fks given approach.

    #8) Only thing that can look pretty on a man are of those out of his control eye color and hair color.
