It's possible that ZOS has a broader definition of 'massively multiplayer online' than some of the MMO playerbase. Or it's possible that they are attempting to redifine a stagnant genre that hasn't seen true innovation in over 10 years (World of Warcraft and EvE Online being the examples given).
I wouldn't say there is anything stagnant over at Blizzard with WoW. Current subscribers at 8 million. They are constantly adding content and groundbreaking innovations to the MMO genre that other games copy. It is the standard in MMOs like EQ was before them.
I would hope ZOS pays attention to their success and what they've added to their game.
Hold on...it's two different games. For a different age group. WoW is teen rating and TESO is mature
That a pretty big difference
Also WoW is now 10+ years old and their success was BEING different than any other MMO at the time. I think they are paying attention to WoW's success

And capitalizing on it. How many ppl were asking Blizzard to port wow to console. A lot but for some reasons Blizzard didn't do it. Maybe ZOS and Blizzard know something we don't
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.
He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

Who knows. It could very well be ESO successfully crossbreeding an MMO expereince with a consoles multiplayer and streamlined action rpg experience.
Who knows.
Yea...If WoW ever went to console, it would be over. It would rule for another decade.
But that's not gonna happen until they get their 42 button skill scheme trimmed down. And that's down from 70 in the prior xpac. I had so many macros...gawd.
This is why I like ESO...you have to decide. Seems like it was built for console...hmmm...let's throw gas on that fire. (incoming PC master race rage).

Nothing stopping the pc race from joining us i think of the time i spent playing eso on pc as an extended beta.
The console is looking like its where the game is going to have the most impact and its a good thing.
We got to test the beta for a year and now we can transfer our characters over and play the real game.

It's obvious that current users say"yes" to text chat(are we all pc users?). ZoS is most likely going to stick to their guns with no text chat starting out. In the end money will shape the future. If things aren't successful as they hope then they will most likely try to slap text chat in. By then the damage would be too late in my opinion.
This thread has already shown popular opinion so debating it over and over isn't going to change anything.

There is still time to fix things but be careful about what you say there watching lol

I just want the game to dominate. ESO dominates= I get more content. I don't see that happening with the current stance on things. But if I get proved wrong, Oh well. At least I will still get huge content. Have you seen the size of content updates from the dominators to the have nots? It is a night and day size difference.

Well im going to play on console ps4
So if this helps your point i will try
1. The game looks unreal and i will be addicted
2. The no chat box thing is really bad because my mate is partly deaf and we play at night were i cannot talk well loud enough.
So this is going to affect us big time if it does not get put back in.

Not to be rude at all but is there a possibility to both play on PC? Knowing controller support in coming very soon.
Again...trying to be respectful but asking a fair question i think considering the friend's situation.

Not sure how that could be rude but no we cannot he is giving eso a try and he uses a ps4 so I'm swapping over to join them.
With any luck they will add the chat option for us by the launch because we use it in warframe and thats a console peer to peer mmo.
Ps. We can type almost as quick as a keyboard user gotta love console txting lol.

Yup but we use USB keyboards they attach to your controller so im not sure why we cannot have it lol.
Im also worried about another problem and that is background noise as i normally mute anyone that shows signs of it.
The ignore list is only a 100 or so cap so it really needs to be larger.

It turns off so you can leave on group or guild chat but turn off prox. Or whatever combination you choose
On PS4 it's start---square, square
Hi ,
I'm really sorry for the delay of answer, we have been quite busy lately.
We are well aware of the feedback regarding the chat on console and even though it will probably not be available at the release, but this is something we are considering thanks to the feedback from the players as you just did.
Regarding your second question, there is no plan to remove the text chat from the PC version so you don't have to worry about it
I hope I answered to your questions and concerns and I wish you a great day.
Warmest regards,
Yoann

Smurf...what is this text radial dial I heard about in ESO live? Any videos on that? Who decided at ESO that this was a good compromise....oh nevermind that, can you provide the texts they have to choose from?
And not the emotes....the 'text phrases most commonly used based on searching text logs on the PC'.
Just got this little tidbit from the Customer Support email:Hi ,

Two things to get from this:
1 - Text chat support could very well come to console still, due to the incredibly high amount of feedback wanting it.
2 - The other thread that said since Voice Chat is coming to PC, it might mean text chat will be gone like consoles (I can't find that thread for some reason) was purely not true.

Why do we have to go to lengths to get them to answer and considering how many people probably asked this why not display it for all to see to help remove alot of unwanted tickets.

I'm pointing out that the reason they don't post things (specifically this topic) on the forums is because of the 4/25 video above. Sorry I was vague in my comment
