How are you forming a raid / group or sell stuff without being in a Tradeguild when you dont have a chat? I mean is everybody shouting in VC Loooooking for group! Looking for group!! ?

Throw in background noise like babies crying and music lol

Your comments show a complete lack of any understanding of how the game actually is played. Your sarcasm further pushes the envelop that your context is not an actual hands on account but moreso based on an assumption from another experience.

There is no zone voice chat, there is no voice trade chat and just as in any other console game. You can quickly and easily mute anyone that does have background noise. It's simple and for those the game is targeting according to ZOS the omission of any text chat because the target audience doesn't want to play with a keyboard.

Nope i didnt play the Beta nor will i play an MMO on a console. So i was just curious and it was a serious question. Now on the PC version, everyone is yelling in Deeshan for a group for they daily pledge. No one actually uses the LFG Tool since its broken or was. So im trying to figure out, how you get a group together when you have no chance to communicate with another player before you invite him to your group.

The fact you got into beta was nothing more than pure luck & adds no more weight or validity than anyone else's opinion here.

Use the tool on console. Problem solved
If you add zone text chat you create any problems that exist on PC and all that come with it in addition to the idea of who is using it as a large population of console players will not use text chat.

The PC issue tho...IMO is a multi issue. Some based on refusal, some Don't know it exists, some don't know how to use it and some have UI conflicts which may throw off the grouping tool by using certain add-on. Th add on is a theory only.

But honestly throwing myself into the console version, I found groups just as easy as I have on PC.
I never really had to use the tool on console because without a zone chat, people will gather around dungeons or encounters and send console messages to friends and ppl that they've been near.

See the one feature that makes this work is anyone that spoke in prox chat around you within an hour or so, you can quickly throw them a voice message, invite, text message (on Xbox one)

Also the emote wheel will have pre-set text chat options so it's not what many assume.
We didn't get to test the emote wheel chat but there are like over 100 emotes so far so if assume another 10-40 to be added as needed

Beta was not even a accurate representation of the release population. Cryodiil was empty for most the beta(10 people isn't pvp for Cyrodiil). No one was trading or crafting hardcore, or using the bank or guild store. You didn't need the social features such as voice chat in beta, nor were they tested beyond groups of 5 people. This is because not many people leveled beyond level 15.

Saturday, console Twitch streams didn't exist for beta. Sunday there were three people streaming.

The one person I watched on twitch got to level 36 by Sunday night, he might of hit 40 by Monday morning. But he was hardcore soloing, never grouping, never testing any of the voice chat features.

This beta was way to short to stress test Cyrodiil and was really a joke. They should have a open beta before console release and dump everyone in Cryodiil to see if the console explode with unplayable lag. But since there are no more betas, we'll get to test that in the paid version, live game in June. Sounds familiar coming from PC.

The comments of crying babies in the background doesn't require you to be in ESO beta....it's a fact for anyone who has used voice chat in ANY game. And with this being the only form of communication in ESO console, voice 'noise' is going to have a lot of muting going on. Then where does that leave us? Not having any alternate way of communicating to the guy that is going the wrong way in a dungeon, not taunting as a tank, not healing at the right time as a healer....with no way to let them know.

Final comment. You don't want to play console with a chat system that requires a keyboard. You are in the miniority. Figure that out.

Correct BETa wasn't an accurate representation

Cyrodil ...depends on when you played. We had a group of 12 with another group with us and took 2 keeps and almost a third. Then the other faction steam rolled us. It was at least 200 people combined at some times which is a lot considering how small the beta crowd was.

Background noise...so again people had no understanding that others could hear them or that voice chat was even on IF no one spoke to them and also the prox is 20 yards so the only time I had those experiences which was not often was if I stood for a while at a vendor with someone else.

Resolution, if you see the white pop-up, if it bothers you go to the next vendor.
Crafting...maybe an issue but I never experienced any background noise as crafters seemed to be self aware.
Grouping....after introductions and playing ppl mute their nice so only those who used the Kinect had background noise which is understandable. Give people a chance to adjust to the game. This isn't really the issue people are making it out to be OR just mute them. It takes 2 seconds and I only muted 1 person who was doing it on purpose so I reported them on Xbox. Problem solved forever.

The reality of your playing without a keyboard to chat is false according to ZOS who is marketing the console versions of the game in their words to a crowd who is on a couch, far away from the screen who doesn't find keyboard use ideal.

Challenge is this...assuming people play like you instead of realizing that we all play differently will open your mind to the idea that ZOS has made the best decision for those they are marketing to on console.

If using keyboard chat on console is an ideal experience, realize you're not in the target market for console at this time.
Let's all adjust as there are other features I think should be there but guess what...it's not for us who are use to a PC MMO experience.

I'm really sorry for the delay of answer, we have been quite busy lately.

We are well aware of the feedback regarding the chat on console and even though it will probably not be available at the release, but this is something we are considering thanks to the feedback from the players as you just did.

May I point out that this is only your (humble, hopefully) assumption and that you have no tools to determine this unless you performed a wide range statistical analysis on the target population.

A pool pfless than 300 participants on a forum is not indicative of anything besides a pre-selected population of conservative pc master race gamers.

Besides, asking for chat because LFG tool doesn't work is nonsense, if LFG tool doesn't work then it should be fixed, chat is just a workaround.

This same response has been posted by others in this thread pages back.

I'd don't know why the thread is still open. Even the OP ask that it be closed after they shared a similar email

Based on those emails which are all very similar and the Friday Twitch live from ZOS. I have no idea why the threads were even started but...that's just me

People posted a few in the beta forums with the same email info too

Your comments show a complete lack of any understanding of how the game actually is played. Your sarcasm further pushes the envelop that your context is not an actual hands on account but moreso based on an assumption from another experience.

There is no zone voice chat, there is no voice trade chat and just as in any other console game. You can quickly and easily mute anyone that does have background noise. It's simple and for those the game is targeting according to ZOS the omission of any text chat because the target audience doesn't want to play with a keyboard.

Get on board the train has departed

Final comment. You don't want to play console with a chat system that requires a keyboard. You are in the miniority. Figure that out.

Get on board the train has departed

Not having any alternate way of communicating.

Final comment. You don't want to play console with a chat system that requires a keyboard. You are in the miniority. Figure that out.
    .

Challenge is this...assuming people play like you instead of realizing that we all play differently will open your mind to the idea that ZOS has made the best decision for those they are marketing to on console.

Look in the mirror and repeat your statement.

They didn't say no forever but they said they will add in text chat emotes.

That's the compromise. Now maybe later ...later but they're not going to look at it again until they hear from the console customers so it'll be at least September before even having enough people to look at it again.

If you feel as a console gamer that using a keyboard while playing is normal or an ideal experience. Based on ZOS, they are not targeting you. Doesn't mean they don't want you to enjoy the game but you fit into their PC target as stated and not their console target.

Please let's move onto things that actually need addressing on console rather than personal differences of communication styles.

You don't work in marketing at ZOS, stop spewing this BS. This hasn't been communicated anywhere. The ESO Live video didn't provide any mention about a marketing decision to pull text chat.

If you want to increase your customer base, you give them as many options to chat as possible. Not the opposite.

    You don't get it...

It's not for you and it's OK. ZOS is not trying to sale to existing customers. They have action plans in place for people who prefer keyboard play. And will very soon offer those players controller support on PC so basically those who really want a kind of console experience with the keyboard chat...right now will fall into the PC target.

You gotta watch the entire live and the past two and it makes sense.
Maybe go back to November live and then follow the development track of both PC and console.

From a marketing approach it makes 100% sense
I too was surprised that console wouldn't have text chat but after listening to them I was like. Well Ok. I'm on board.

If your attitude is one that "they need to change" then you may find yourself often upset unless you're going to apply to work for them.

Really? Then why is it that every other MMORPG on consoles has text chat? Oh ya BTW if you haven't heard DCUO is coming to the Xbox One ... guess what it'll have text chat too.

If I primarly play games on consoles (and I do) I would expect a MMORPG to have text chat as a basic feature.

    Because
1 those companies are competing for shelf space within the same market and using other strategies to try and pull from another companies customer base. Those games offer the exact same experiences with different (shells) and pricing models.
2 ZOS from the very start is NOT trying to market to the existing PC MMO crowd but rather market to TES fans who wanted a different experience

3 According to ZOS the text chat is 100% not ideal for their current console marketing strategy

Here is the problem...your expectation doesn't matter. My expectation doesn't matter, none of our expectations matter.

What matters is what is the marketing opportunity for ZOS based on their marketing plan.
Is the plan viable and is the opportunity inline with what its directors and investors desire

    That's what matters.

If you don't like what they are doing...trust me, it's not going to bother them as we are really not the target for console.

If that's hard to swallow...sorry...and that's not my words but theirs

sre the video...they guy point blank says No I tried and we tried and we ultimately decided that this is not the direction we are wanting to go. Even notice Jessica's face (I think that's her name) which was like OH ***! ok....

Big business makes tough decisions to deliver and honestly based on Twitter, Facebook, and a lot of people who do not like MMO games...a lot of non MMO customers are going to buy it.

A lot of them have little to no interest of playing with others.
Some are open to it but that's not the draw.

Reality...sometimes isn't in line with our expectations especially when we are not a part of the marketing plans.

We are customers...look, decide and buy or move on
At least some have the PC version. It's Ok
