Since I've much changed my Nightblade to a gimped version of a healer/sorc, I'd like a way to abandon the class altogether now. Many Dragon Knights, Sorc and apologists come on Nightblade threads telling us how we can be viable yet no one serious takes a Nightblade for trials in Craglorn. Nightblade is a bad joke and I want it to end.

This is a serious question so don't flame me. I'm totally new to MMOs so I don't know how classes work there but won't opening the class system in ESO further unbalance the game? Won't it open itself to the people who like to make a "god" class and then complain about the game being to easy? People are already complaining about builds or classes being over-powered; wouldn't a classless system make it worse faster?

In abstract, I agree with removing classes because I like to tweak my builds from the beginning so I can do what my idea of a class should be able to but can't we already do that to some extent? I can make a sneaky mage it just takes a bit longer to acquire the weapons and skills. That being the case I can be whoever I want with some thought and a bit of time. Is this a case of impatience?

Removing classes won't get rid of OP combinations. Either way someone will complain about things being OP.

well except for the fact that with classes you can't really be what you want to be, i can be a sneaky mage as a sorc and use the destro staff, but you know what? i don't particularly like the destro staff skills and if i'm a NB i don't have any mage-like abilities to use, the sorc tree has some of the best mage-like abilities out there (the mages guild has a few but they mostly suck) but i can't use those abilities because they are locked to the sorc class, so i'm pretty much out of luck as a vet rank+ NB and have to reroll and waste more time doing the same content i just did, and wait, what if i get bored of being a mage and want some holy abilities, guess what, sorc aren't templars that have the only holy abilities in the game and have instant heals, so there goes another char and time i must waste lvling another char through THE SAME content for a third time, it gets real old real fast, and thats my problem with the class system in a (i tried to be) brief summery

I agree leveling whole new characters to veteran rank 12 is a massive problem and horribly boring , People are saying its to hard to take out classes but seriously ... That's what were paying them for to work !

When I heard/read that in ESO the game was going to be opened up so you could play however you wished to play I assumed that meant there would be no class structure just a large assortment of skills that you could choose from that were based on your level and ability "power" the skill through your attribute allocation.

i.e. if the Whack-A-Mole skill requires 33 Stamina to use it once then you can't take the skill if your Stamina pool is only 30. Put some points into Stam to reach 33 then whack away with Whack-A-Mole to your heart's content or you drain your Stamina pool

i assumed the same, i feel as if play the way you want includes all the skills in the game, not having some locked behind a class system

But this system is new, it's neither classes or no classes. It's direction with options.
Yup. Sadly this game seems all about forcing directions on us. And with far too few options to go along with it.
If you opened up all the skill lines you would actually be taking away options. As each class has over powered skills and you would need them all to compete.

I've seen this arguement made before. But what you seem to be implying (and what I completely agree with, mind you) is that the various class skill lines are in fact not created equal.

That's not a problem related to a classless MMO, that's just shoddy skill lines that need overhauling. Because they should be all created equal. We should want to have all of them. And then, we should be forced to choose the ones we want most. Preferably agonizing over the decision because they should all be that awesome.
Weapon skills would become even more useless.

And while yes, I also agree that the weapon skill lines also need quite a bit of attention and balancing, that doesn't have much in the way of bearing upon class skillines.

Ridiculous idea. You can already play as whatever ROLE you want. Classless systems are incredibly hard to balance - they are already having a hard time balancing classes as it is. It makes no sense to make it even more difficult.

As an example of a reason why classes should not be removed, consider how little time it would take for all the PVPers to start posting, in the forums, that stealthers in heavy armour, with pets out and firing spells from cover, are ruining PVP because they steamroll the enemy every time and are unstoppable, with their healing spells keeping them alive when they get found. With so many skill points available, it could happen.

Removing classes would be a huge waste of time at this point, I've played classless MMO's before and honestly in the end it didnt make a huge difference. ZOS has many other aspects of this game to worry about.

Be realistic guys who complains unlocking all skill lines would be too OP. Obviously the skills and passives would have to be revised and adapted to cross overs! A no class system is not new, Ultima Online was/is classless. It's just that since this is an Elder Scrolls themed mmorpg, we were expecting more freedom/choices.

I've been trying to say this whole time that all the classes removed and all the skills and skill lines and passives everything you can imagine just remolded ..Redone to make it better like instead of night blade skills or Templar skills we have Destruction tree/Alteration/dual wield/Unarmed/Conjuring/Restoration/Etc. you get what I mean ?

Yes it would take a while but the game would be better for it just set aside a team to work on it and let the rest of the company work on the actual game as it is to make it better!

Yeah. I can see where balancing 12 whole skill lines against each other would be some overwhelming task. I mean, it's not like any MMO has ever had to balance 12 discrete classes, let alone class skill lines, amirite?

Oh, or are you simply saying you don't think the ESO devs are up to the challenge?
