Elder Scrolls games have had class systems in the past, but you were always able to create your own class. In Oblivion you could even name it. I say do it big or don't do it at all. If they wanted to implement classes, there should have been about 40 to choose from: not 4. I'd be ok with 40 classes and less freedom to spec your own character as well. That would be a much harder system to balance though. So yeah, open it up. Give every character access to every tree. Give us a reason to think twice about where to put a skill point.

While true oblivion had classes , it does not resemble ESO class system at all.
In oblivion , it did not lock the trees , which did not even had skill points like in skyrim.
So in oblivion , the only thing your class did , was decide which trees you would use to lvl up your char (and said trees would get a exp bonus so you could lvl them faster), and which you training and do not count for a new lvl.
If anything in oblivion to max out the stats you could receive , you had to pick trees you did not use a lot , but that you could train , so that you could lvl when you wanted to guarantee you would get the max number of stats point possible with the new lvl.

I'd rather not PvP against the same overpowered build that people come up with for the flavor of the month.
