Bears: a modest proposal.

It is well-known that bears have giant fat asses, which causes them to get in everyone's way, when looting, crafting, speaking with vendors, bankers and other assorted interactions, since combat pets cannot be intangibly clicked-through like cosmetic pets, mounts and other players can be.

...etc.

It occurs to me, this means they must be tangible. One might hence conclude they are pokable.

So I modestly propose that Sheogorath's Fork of Horripilation be made available as a Memento. And that the action of the memento is to poke the nearest bear right in its fat ass, in a gory and orgiastic spectacle of ursine colophagy!

Once the bear has been eaten, it should be unceremoniously unsummoned, and all within 20m should break into cheering and applause.

This would certainly be easier for ZoS to implement than making non-hostile pets click-throughable, right?

    Apparently not.

Agreed! Wolves would be cool, or a Morrowind-themed creature like the rest of the animal summoning skills, such as an alit or dreugh.

I would absolutely support this, on the condition that we could also use it on the Warden n'wahs who summoned the bear in the first place!
After all, it's not the bear's fault.

Please, please, please change the model for the Matriarch and reduce its size to 1/3 current. C'mon you already the models with the non-combat pets. If you can't do that, give me a command I can hotkey to unsummon.

Aside from the hassle it causes other players, just moving around the wing flaps obscure a portion of my screen. It is the most annoying thing ever.

Have the Matriarch land out of combat settings like the non combat flying pets.

Bears should be instantly unsummoned every time combat ends.

Is it unreasonable? Yes. Is it what your unreasonable A deserves for blocking every craft table, quest turn-in, loot container, and NPC under the sun? Yes. Yes it absolutely is.
Shortly after the formation of the Ebonheart Pact, a Nord woman was given a tour of the Tribunal Temple. When later asked about the experience, she seemed upset. Suffice to say, the Dunmer were not pleased to hear this, and thus they inquired further.
"Well," the Nord frowned, "the priests were very angry and unwelcoming. They kept shouting things at me like "you can't drink that mead in here!" and "somebody stop her, she's running naked!" and "we can't catch her; she's covered in grease!""

That'd be cool, and would solve a problem I have, too. it's a silly thing, so I've not bothered to report it, but... the beat of their wings makes me nauseous. Frustrating since my main's a sorc!

There's something about the arrhythmic beat that, if I'm stood for any length of time in one place, I have to unsummon or get a kind of queasy motion sickness.

Mind you, if I'm in a populated place and not in combat, I unsummon my pets anyway: it's just polite! I'd do that even if they fixed the not-click-throughability of them.

But not being able to stand idle with them even out in the wilds is kinda sad. I like my pet companions.

:) Don't want to sound bearish, but as a tank the Daedroths are my biggest gripe in the pet department.. They breath fire all over the boss while blocking my view. The warden bears are more fun in a civilian context. Blocking up the bank.... -Well, the market looks bearish today! -Wardens bring bears, the undaunted get pelted!! -Who can bear it? Wardens, only wardens..

If the translucent pet won’t block sky shards/crafting stations/quest giver, that will work. But I think it’s their larger than life proportion that’s the problem.

I am leveling a Warden and it’s a pain to have the bear always blocking everything. Yeah, ok that’s a quest giver no need to tank them 🙃

Could we have an selection under Options to not render other players combat pets?

Surely it would improve game performance for those who select it and we can certainly use that.

EDIT: I think I just realized something - they can’t make matriarchs click-through because they are targetable in PvP. Pets like blastbones and that skeletal archer are not targetable, neither are werewolf pets.

Not rendering combat pets would not work there either.

    We need another option.

The Fact That You Did Not Use My Proposal is Quite Telling That You Dont Know The Best Proposal To Date...

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/506144/should-we-implement-this-amazing-feature/p1"]https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/506144/should-we-implement-this-amazing-feature/p1

If a Player's Bear or Pet is blocking the crafting station or NPC or quest item.

You can press on the Bear or the Pet and select Remove and it is unsummoned.

From then on, whenever they summon that bear or pet it comes with a different skin for 24 hours, something like plain gray with a caution marker over its head. If someone catches the bear or pet blocking a crafting station or NPC or quest item, you can click on it and select Annihilate which will skin it alive in front of them in horrific screams and it will explode splattering blood everywhere.

From then on, whenever they summon that bear or pet it comes with a different skin for 365 Days with a Death marker over its head.If someone catches the bear or pet blocking a crafting station or NPC or quest item, you can click on it and select Eradication which will automatically make that pet turn inside out, quickly rot and be sucked out of existence.
From then on the Player has a Debuff of 365 days on all of account and his attributes become only 3 and his skill points drop to 6 and losses all CP points. That player also gets a Clown Face make up smeared all over their face that he cant remove or change it until the debuff is gone on all their character . From then on whenever the player wants to interact with any crafting station, any NPC or any quest Item, They must try crouching, jumping and roll dodging 100 times around the intractable while facing it, when they do that they get to see the intractable quickly appear (they may press E but it does nothing) and that is a sign that they entered the last phase , now the intractable only gains 1 Pixel which they may interact with and must find in 1 minute or they have to jump crouch and roll dodge all over again. If ever they try to summon a bear or pet while this Debuff is active they gain the Achievement 3RD Time Is the Charm and they get automatically kicked and account banned until they follow a 30 day program in RL of the ethics of bear and pets summoning.

:| I don't understand why developers still haven't made anything to remove this problem...
Many pet owners are responsible and know when to desummon those pets; but some owners don't care that their pets can grief other players. The most simple solution would be to make combat pets "transparent", so that their bodies don't block interactions with NPCs/containers etc.
