PC Maintenance Extended? Why?

Just notice that PC maintenance was extended, but why? The announcement says it's just a server reboot and there is no patch applied, so why extend the downtime? It doesn't make any sense!

✭✭✭✭It seemed likely from the note about this maintenance that they were going to do "routine" maintenance that for some reason they feared could wind up being a bit tricky. (That's the best theory as to why they separate it out from next Monday's patch maintenance.)
So the fact that it's dragged on a bit is not surprising.
I conjecture that they applied one or more patches to the underlying system software, restarted the servers, checked whether everything was working fine ... and discovered something wasn't.
Alternatively, instead of patching the stack they might have been reorganizing the databases a bit.
Note to @ZOS_GinaBruno -- if you could get the techies to give you that level of detail in the future, it would probably be interesting to a lot of us without having much blowback for you or your colleagues.Edited by FrancisCrawford on June 24, 2020 10:40AM3 -

LoL, it's not just a feeling when the results are so consistent ;-). Why not use all that money we blow on this game to get more servers? That way they could have a few servers running during maintenance and swap back to their main servers when maintenance is complete. Where is all this money going if it's not being used to improve the game?

✭✭✭✭✭I have seen in the past where a machine is running slow so you schedule a reboot, but then it doesnt come back up. It happens.
Either way, no matter what it is; I'm glad they are at least rebooting ahead of MYM and the weekend rather than waiting until Monday. I'm all for them doing whatever they feel they need to help the game actually run.3 -

The elastic band has to be replaced/must have snapped
(this is why we have been experiencing too much lag when playing the game).
