[PC EU] Trader swap failed. Please remember u23 fiasco and act quick

Not a trader here (not my kind of end-game), but still I just want to point out that Tamriel Trade Center website is a complete mess right now.
    https://eu.tamrieltradecentre.com/pc/Trade

Search results for almost all items are pointing to non-existent guild traders...
(example: I want to buy X item, search results says that there is an X guild in Deshaan. I go there and vendor kiosk is owned by totally different guild that (surprise) does not have stuff I need).

So um I guess it is also causing issues for buyers too.

    Correct.

So main trading guilds in Craglorn and Rawl'kha that won their bids at the cost of millions can't sell their items because customers can't find their traders. It cuts both ways. I need to buy tons of mastic to do what I do, but can't find any. Great. I need rare-ish style ingredients. Same problem. TTC, which has been very useful for me, is no longer usable, so I am back to slogging across Tamriel by myself and finding stores with, if I am lucky 100 items of which one or two are of any interest to me and maybe one is at a price I am okay with. Meanwhile I can sell fewer items because one of my guilds won a trader that is both ours and not ours. It is a mess in every way. And again.. this happened before and it must have been a terrible mess, but they didn't fix it this time around and are not even sure they will have a fix soon-ish? Don't get me wrong, I want it fixed properly, ASAP, but I just don't understand how they could've let this happen again in the first place, not know what went wrong after having already been through this once before at least. So I really hope they learn their lesson this time.

When Alyennnah is not here, she's probably crafting. Quite possibly at Alyennah's Crafting in Wayrest. Or maybe she's out there, looking for new materials, recipes and styles to use in crafting. She wants to craft all the things.

You know, I quit running a trade guild last year as with work commitments, I just didn't have the time.

Now I'm back, with a guild doing pretty well and established in Grahtwood, and I'm wondering why I bother with all this. It's hard enough to keep a trade guild running. Costs are incredible (I knew that before I started). Competition is fierce (I knew that too!). But I can't run a guild when the system is shot, or the game is so unreliable that I might have all my members offline for more than half the week!

Performance of this game on the EU server is horrific, and getting worse not better. More and more people that I game with are taking a step back and playing less, or finding other games that are better managed. With the absolute farce that was Greymoor's launch (which isn't finished yet, by a long way), and now this repeat of the guild trader issue....... I'm just seriously wondering why we're all still here, you know ? :(

This is exactly the sentiment of the majority of players I run across on the servers in all of my guilds, in PvP, and in zone chat. They packing up to play other games and many have no intentions to return. They're in awe at how poorly the game is functioning and that we accepted it this many years. We all hoped. It would be fixed but it wasn't. It's worse.

All we want is for the game to be fun to play again. Too many server issues and excessive bugs repeatedly returning are not fun. They're weighing this game down significantly, and driving away players old and new. Good content isn't fun if it isn't working. A game that is functioning at this level of deterioration is simply annoying. Please, do what's necessary to get this game back on track before it ends up a ghost town.

As a buyer I have a huge issue with lack of items. Today I wanted to buy few overland gear pieces but instead had to go farm them since there were none anywhere.

But look on the bright side - some non-trader guild folks are overjoyed they got to buy a trader that wasn't actually truly available to them for the absolutely affordable price of only 10k. Think of their happiness, as they tried to remind folks about twice in the thread.

Don't focus on the actual damage done to the winning guilds who have no traders or ability to sell to the general public right now or the inconvenience that you, as a buyer, can't find what you need with all the guilds listing 5 items for sale. Just think of how happy they are today.

What an absolute mess this game has turned into.

For a game to have traders down within an entire mega server for over 2 days is unheard of.

What makes it even worse is how neglected the EU PC server is compared to NA.

Zos it's like you don't care about your audience.

First you remove group queuing from battlegrounds. (Something me and my partner used to really enjoy)

And now you don't even care to give us any feedback to what is happening with the traders.

I mean would it of really hurt to take the server offline for say 1 hour to fix this problem.

If that is not possible would it hurt to just leave a message on here saying why and when it will be possible so that no one is left in the dark.

    This is really not professional.

Hi everyone, thanks for your patience today while we worked through everything. For visibility, the issue that occurred yesterday where the incorrect guilds appeared to win guild traders happened because there was a gap in time between when winners of a guild trader were selected, and when the winners were actually applied. This means some guilds were able to illegitimately win a trader during that gap, rather than the trader going to the real winner.

This Wednesday during our scheduled maintenance, we’re going to swap out the owners of all guild traders on PC EU to the correct guilds that won the bid, and refund everyone’s gold – both the winners and those who accidentally won. We’re also working on a fix to prevent this from happening in the future.

No offense but this is not good enough, this type of thing should be fixed the same day it happens, not 2 days after.

I'm the first to praise you guys when you do good but this is ridiculous.

    Really not happy.

Haha, why fix stuff ASAP if you can also fix it in 2 days, GJ ZOS! Thanks for not being here for us yet again after YOU *** up

I mean.. ship was sinking this whole time, you were aware of the delayed trader bids but now you're actually surprised and will only react on wednesday during patch instead of taking servers down and fixing your mess up on sunday immediately? I feel really cared for right now. No way you could have known that a sinking ship will eventually sink, no chance to make up a backup plan for the worst case after the first time this happened...

    @ZOS_GinaBruno Okay I was wrong.

Just one question for the sake of clarification. On Wednesday you'll swap everyone around so those that won their bid gets their trader and the other party gets removed, but the guild that won will still get its winning bid back as if they lost? Do I understand that correctly?

Once again, this isn't the first time, or even the second time, this has happened on BOTH PC servers. The same response of "we're working on a fix" was given each time. And yet, here we go again.

I'm no guild leader, and it does not appear the guilds I'm in were affected. But still. This is something that has happened multiple times, received multiple fixes, and here we go again.

What are you going to do to stop this from happening yet again? Because a cycle of break-fix?-break-fix? does not inspire confidence.

WHY on Wednesday?! This is destroying the Economy and Guilds, some are already closing as seen above. Amazing how fast the server comes down when people accidentally get access to things, but AN ENTIRE SYSTEM OF THE GAME BREAKS and we have to wait 2.5 days for them to even take it down.

Just more evidence that this is NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

ps. Though I do wonder why we continue to post as I am 99% sure nobody is reading them and actually taking note, just making sure not Forum Rules are broken *eye roll*

... there was a gap in time between when winners of a guild trader were selected, and when the winners were actually applied.
There simply should not be a time gap in that kind of situation, ever. It shouldn't even be two separate operations. If it has to be, for reasons unknown, then at least do it in the opposite order: first assign owners according to the new bids, then clear the ownership for the traders that didn't have any bids. If this runs afoul of your data consistency checks because a guild can't own two traders, and you didn't think to include a state of "pending assignment" for the traders in addition to the "unassigned" state, assign all traders to dummy guilds before the update instead of announcing them to end users as "unassigned". I'm sorry, but I am appalled. Don't leave your live database tables in limbo, ever, even for a short moment. If you absolutely have to go about it in that manner, do not allow external access while the reassignment is being made.

Who are those who "accidentally won"?
The people who knew they lost their bid and snatched up a trader where they didn't win? Maybe even in the very same spots they bid?

Thank you for this solution, I think it's a good one.

    Two suggestions:
    - Implement this solution as a automatic go to should a similar situation occur again in the future.
    - Consider moving the trader swap to a time that coincides with the starting time of ZOS staff on a normal work day for instance on a Monday morning.

    Cheers

@ZOS_GinaBruno while I really appreciate the fact that this issue is being resolved, it's baffling how it lacks in substance. Despite the dismal turnaround time -- to say nothing of the recurrence of the issue -- this answer just brushes it all to the side with the same old apology.

Certainly a good way to lose customers once a better game comes along...

PS: Get your act together on Cyrodiil. The constant lag is laughable for a game with paid content, and paid subscription.

I didn't do the awesome, but after quitting on gming trade guilds and not playing eso for over a year I changed my mind over a lot of things, even about the ah question. I think it's important that people do make a cut when it's starting to become frustrating. this game should be fun. Beeing trade guild gm isn't fun at all. And gm who decide to quit over frustration in this game do make a good choice for their personal salvation. This content is so badly maintained, with pay2win options, exploits and broken vendor auction system. I often thought, it's better to just take it off/to pull it down. If an auction house breaks over and over again, it's a factor as the broken group finder or the broken battle grounds. But nobody is too personally involved into it, as GMs are. I do have an idea which guilds Sturmfänger ist talking about. One of them is actually one of the oldest, starter friendly german communities with a very active chat and very helpful people. I started years ago from there as one of the first members and officer, before I started becoming gm myself. It does hurt to see as well, still I also want that old friends of mine to be happy. And trading in eso and running trade guilds is definitely nothing which would make anyone happy for a long time.

Get Stuff like this (but not this stuff)

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"I have too admit. People leading trade guilds in this game are quite stupid. Not stupid like fools, but stupid like leaders.
They can only bla-bla and waste gold on feeding their ego. I am disappointed."
