As for me, I'm running one character with hirelings, on one account (because I'm not an alt-stacking powergamer). That's 3 years and 6 months, based on YOUR average, before I gathered enough legendary tempers to upgrade all my gear to legendary.
And you want to NERF this....?
The proposed nerfs wouldn't nerf you, they would nerf only the people running hirelings on alts they don't level. It only makes sense for the devs to base the hireling loot on either points in hireling or character level (probably points in hireling). This only affects your scenario while you're low level, but crushes the hireling on 7 level 3 alts.
ok, so lets say I actually take the time to level and alt to the point that he can have 3 hirelings, then I take the time to run that alt around to get the skill points to actually put into the skill that gets me those hirelings. I have done the work to get those points, but you say I should not be able to get things from those hirelings because I am not actively playing the character right now.
Why?
I got the points I chose where to put them. So unless you are OK, with me determining where your points go on your characters then don't try to dictate where others spend their points.

and what loot would that affect? I could easily create a lvl4 legendary if I wanted to.

Why do people who have no idea how this even works keep commenting?
Have your main put decon mats for woodworking, blacksmithing and clothier in the bank. It doesn't take much to decon to level 3. Makes alts, skip tutorial, start with 3 skill points. Decon mats until level 3, it takes less than a minute for each alt. Activate 3 hirelings per alt.
It takes like 15 minutes to set up 7 alts with 3 hirelings each. Then sit back as the mats come in. I've got 3 epics and 5 legendaries this week, for 15 minutes of work I did at the start of the game.

As for me, I'm sure I would be considered a "casual" player because I don't sit in front of the game for 14 hours at a stint. As such, it's nice to have what you refer to as a "mail lottery" show up that allows me to have slightly better gear. None of my hirelings have ever come up with anything legendary, so I guess I'm getting the short end of the stick. But in reference to whether this is "pay to win" kind of game, what do you call the Imperial Edition? It was a retail early access, items, free transportation and access to a special race and the ability to play in any faction. Seems very much like ZOS had "paying to win" in the cards from the beginning, despite the fact that CEs are nothing new.

You are doing hireling WRONG if you have not got a legendary. DO you have all toons on your account loaded up with all hireling getting 50+ mails a day to open? If not I suggest you go back to beginning of thread and read slowly this time.

Or they are just unlucky, or simply not as crazy devoted to maximizing hirelings? Also your math seems off.
As I unstand it, your suggesting that if I have ALL my character slots with hireling on them that I'm pulling more then 12 mails a day, am I missing something? 50+ hireling mails makes me think you would need 50 characters, am I missing something here?
If you want to spend all your time logging back and forth to check all your hirelings on all your alts, while I play and enjoy the game. Be my guest. Couldn't care less. I have one hireling and enjoy the experience. You people whine for absolutely any reason.

/facepalm. This thread is crazy. I've never seen so many people just not get it. Whatever, I don't care. I hope they don't nerf it.
I read what the OP wrote and I understood perfectly. But to me to go to all that effort everyday is crazy to get a few legendary items. And it's just a crafting item so you still have to level crafting to use it.Laharl_Overlord wrote: »If you want to spend all your time logging back and forth to check all your hirelings on all your alts, while I play and enjoy the game. Pretty much. Makes me worry a bit for the next generation and the fate of mankind when people are not able to look at things objectively. And are so obtuse to shoot something like this down when the facts are all laid out right in front of them. Find a guild bank dupe bug that does the same thing essentially (albeit at a faster pace because hey its a dupe) and everyone loses their junk and calls for a rollback
/facepalm indeed.
Your math was not off that was meant to be 30+, typo and corrected.
4 hireling X 8 characters = 32 mails a day with like 15-30 mins of work/effort.
However since I do this on 2 accounts I do get 60+ a day.

I have one hireling and on my first email I got a legendary item but Im unable to use it because I have no purple item to elevate. Do you understand now what I mean about the effort it takes to even make the legendary stuff an exploit?
Ok yes they could sell it. but in my eyes they would almost deserve it for all the work.

You need 32 in smithing to even hit 3/3 on the hireling, the chance at yellows is ridiculously low, I've gotten 2 since day 1 early access, and you can also get them from REFINING ORE. I've gotten more purple / yellow upgrade items from just refining the ore than the hirling by a TON. Another case of theory crafting vs experience -_-
Also note the hireling wont BRING you yellows until 2/3
they are constantly modifying the game with these weekly patches. 2 patches ago, they halved the sell price to vendors for provisions, making provision farming less lucrative.
who's to say they won't sneak in a fix soon to nerf this as well? I don't see any reason for them not to, now that everyone and their brother are jumping aboard.
