There has to be something to do to keep people playing for years.
Ofcourse you can you still complete content with non meta sets but we spend half our time trying to get better and the other half enjoying our new strength. Unless your some weirdo that role plays lol.
If the meta shifts slowed down, i think it would be hard to keep people (with years vested) interested.

Been playing since beta.
I have plenty to keep me busy without having to rebuild my characters every 3 months.
In fact having to do so is keeping me from playing the game and it's getting tiresome. Its not playing, its rebuilding.
I would argue that right now, more people are being driven from the game because the constant changes.
With all the complaints about the meta shifting so fast thought it would be good to see what people think by making a poll.
I don't concern myself with the "meta". Never have. Never will.
I would suggest people just find a build they enjoy and have fun with it. Those who always chase after the most OP build every update are likely just going to be disappointed with a future nerf. Because basically all people do when they do this sort of thing is highlight imbalances in the game play and advertise to the developers that they need to be nerfed (which is usually exactly what happens).
The Meta is a Myth. With variations in Rotations and Timings and Lag that actual combat has, there are many ways to the Leaderboards and Victories. Just play the way that makes sense to you and how you play. You will find these changes have less of an impact than you would think.
