    IMO single target DoTs should hit harder than AoE DoTs. This change is good, and it’s nice to see Entropy finally become useful. This buff may offset the nerfs to so many other skills (Blockade, Liquid Lightning, Winter’s Revenge, Twisting Path, Blazing Spear, Solar Barrage, etc.).

    On a Magicka Necromancer in PvP gear with a Flame Staff and un-morphed Skeletal Mage (since Arcanist simply makes it worse for PvP), I'm at:
    Skeletal Mage - 5,479 every 2 seconds
    Entropy - 28,952 over 12 seconds
    I don't remember exactly what my CP allocation is offhand, but I know I'm at 40 in Thaumaturge.

    well mage will give you 2739 dps and entropy is 2412 with your numbers. skeletal arcanist is also aoe. seems balanced to me. does the skeletal arcanist get reduced by major evasion, is that why you say that it is worse?
    Yes, the only thing that changes with the morph is that the attack becomes a 4m AOE, which means 25% less damage on Stam builds (especially with even more widespread Major Evasion in 5.1).

    In theory, yes. In practice, I really don't feel like swapping my skills between each and every trash and boss fight. I especially don't feel like swapping out class skills like Twisting Path for generic single target DoTs.

    Actually, I'm pretty sure Soul Magic is one of the skill lines for sale, or else soon will be. That said, the skill line's passives do NOT have anything to do with Sout Trap, so you don't need any ranks in the skill line to do damage unless you want to use the ultimate.

    i agree. we complained about entrophy being basically just a buff skill and we were trying to find ways to drop it for barspace to put more offensive skills in its place. Now its a dot for builds that need a buff but also need dmg.

    I think its great. More skills dealing more dmg in a meta that still has pirate skeleton/high resistance. Play the damn changes, post videos and then let us decide. Too many tooltip warriors posting biased *** lol.

    Good Lord. You still have to have leveled the skill line at least once. You are basically just paying to not have the find books for 4-6 hours after then. Sad you feel this is somehow bad.

    It changes nothing in the end. Mage‘s Guild and Undaunted are pretty much vanilla skill lines that haven’t changed over the years, long before ESO was F2P or we had the Crown Store. They weren’t capable of creating nice ways to level skill lines before so they aren’t now. I hate grindy skill lines but don’t think they’ll get worse now just because you can unlock them via store.

    On topic: the numbers seem crazy but I like it. Finally crappy skills are useful, even when the numbers seem off. I prefer an overpowered Soul Trap accessible to everybody than the useless crap it was for years now.

    After testing it it doesn't feel really OP anymore. Almost all builds have the tools to counter dot stacking in PvP right now so I don't think it'll be that much trouble.
    I used to think that PvP was a tragedy, but now I realize, it's a comedy.

    Single target hots were buffed to counter single target hots. Everything is still balanced. You have to take all the changes into account when evaluating things. You can't just take the over buffed tooltip on someone and claim that is what the damage is normally.

    As mentioned, entropy is in line with other single target DoTs.

    Maybe they should have put the damage per second value instead of the total damage so players wouldn't go "chicken little" over it?

    Well, looks like good combat direction to me.

    Patch notes 5.1.1: Reduced 5 piece damage bonus of Oblivion's Foe set to 5%.

    I checked on PTS, and Entropy's damage over time is almost exactly the same as:

    1) Fire Reach
    2) Soul Trap
    3) Haunting Curse

    I don't see any problem here.

    People keep comparing single target dots that last 12s with single target dots that last either longer, shorter and don't take into account passives, cost etc..

    Same with comparing single target with aoe.

    Besides for most boss fights you're going to have to do more than everyone slot single target dots.

    You'll need aoe somewhere to aoe adds.

    probably your class aoe dot. unless you are talking pvp, then i would have to see your bars.

    This is good. This was one of the few MMOs where pvp was strictly setup/cc/burst.

    It was sorely missing functional maintained-pressure/attrition dot builds (at least from magicka) - now they exist.

    Obviously they will need to be tuned so they're not doing 5 times the damage of a direct ability; but for them to be viable, they need to be doing double to triple depending on duration.

    woah, never drop blazing spear as templar...still the strongest ST dot (instant hit+ dot + burning light) available for you...

    quick testing results from yesterday (5x siroria, 5 spell strategist, 2x zaan. just kept aup dots, no spammable)

    i used unstable wall in this test, but will most likely switch to elemental wall (longer duration) just to have some time for a spammable...but they are close together damage-wise, which is a good thing :)

Area of Effect DoTs will now be 33% weaker than a single target DoT counter-part and cost 30% more, just like direct damage AoEs vs single target ones."
