Controversial? You mean as controversial as every other special snowflake casul? "Achievement elitism" is a the way someone chose to play so yea let's make it brain dead for all special snowflakes to have anything they want without moving a finger
P.S.
It's not as fun as doing quests for some for instance
EU PC 2000+ CP professional mudballer and pie thrower"Sheggorath, you are the Skooma Cat, for what is crazier than a cat on skooma?" - Fadomai
This is like the Malatar skin, "casuals" complained about the skin being "unreachable" for the "common player". That's the result.Cheezits94 wrote: »As it currently stands, there are two almost identical senches in the game files. They have different description texts and different item IDs.
First one is a crown store item and has a leather saddle. The other one has a golden saddle and can be earned by completing the new trial Sunspire on hardmode, with no-death and speedrun.
I know there has been another topic on this, with people looking at this picture and just saying "hurrdurr it's the same mount in different lighting hurrdurr", but the item IDs and the description texts speak for themselves. The Achievement senche is described as "a special variant" of the other one, with the difference mentioned being the golden gear and saddle.
When they introduced the Asylum polymorph and sold a different colored version (silver instead of gold/bronze) in the cash shop a while later, i already thought that was pretty bold, but these mounts have even smaller differences between them and this is a step too far IMO. With lower graphic settings, gold is just a shade of brown, so you won't even be able to see any difference. People already can't tell which one is which from this picture and claim they are identical, which obviously is not the case:

Same goes for the vAS skin.Raiden_Gekkou wrote: »rosendoichinoveb17_ESO wrote: »I wounder what would be people's reaction if they started selling in Crown store Dro M'athra skin with an extra blue vinyl on it to be classified as different.
So many people have glitched that skin for free in the past that no one would care since everyone and their cat has it. They can sell the regular Dro-M'athra in the store and it wouldn't matter since it's worn out and easy to get now.

Both versions look too gaudy for me so I'm sticking to my 'boring' leopard senche, thanks.
Doesn't matter anyway. Here's what will end up happening:
Those of us who are capable of running this content will progress and run it, get our goofy mounts, and run around on them for a few days. The Crown Store version will drop and the casuals will get their chance to pretend they put in the time to progress the content, and the end game community will never run that mount again. It will become an embarrassment to be seen with it on the off chance you'll be perceived as another wannabe.
With the amount of people who currently get carries from friends or pay for skin carries, even skins themselves are losing their in-game prestige. The only things that really mark a good player these days are their titles, and so far, you can't buy those in the crown store.

I see this in a similar way, in the end they can buy all the skins and mounts they want but they will never be able to buy skill. After all, good players know each other.. you can't simply pay money to be part of the end game raiding community.

To all the people crying about this, stop playing ESO. They do things like this for people that don't own or play dlc/harder content that want to RP or have cosmetics applied to their characters. Yes i understand that you get cool rewards and it's acknowledgement for beating the hardest things and that's definitely an achievement worth showing off. The real facts are that a lot of people don't have time or skill to do that *** and they offer purchasable options for them. The differences should be greater than a slight color change though, that's too close.

No, but you can pay them to carry you through the Trial so you get the achievement, the skin and the mount. LOL

Rewarding people for a great achievement that gets nullified by the *** crownstore. Not a fan.....

You'll notice that while there are people who sell Malatar skin carries, nobody sells Scalecaller skin carries. People sell vAS skins. But never Immortal Redeemer titles. People sell vHoF skins, but never Tick-Tock titles. Sunspire skins, I can see being sold. But you'll never see anyone offering to sell the Sunspire mount.
There are many things that you just cannot carry because they are too difficult. Trifecta achievements are not carry-able. And the Sunspire trifecta is by far harder than any existing trial trifecta and is one of the achievements required to get the mount.

Casuals don’t want any cosmetic to require effort, that’s the problem
Casuals still had the gal to claim regular non-hm, non-speed run, non-no death, regular vet was too hard for the skin
It’s not about looks, it’s about them not wanting someone having an item that proves skill over them. Ego inferiority complexes means ZOS caters to them and removes prestige from actual skilled gameplay rewards

What does it matter if there is someone with the same mount at your side and I buy it with crowns?
You got it for free and with effort and you know it, i do not understand the need to want to shout it to the world.
I think it's good that there are two options, there are people who can not do it because of time or disability, they deserve it too.
I don't want ZOS to tell me "With this mount, we wanted to give something special and unique to our endgame raiders to work for" in their Livestream if that is not the case. I feel lied to and I hate that feeling.
That's on me though, for believing marketing blabla.
I wouldn't have felt remotely as disappointed had they said "We have a nice crown store mount coming up, and our raiders can even earn it ingame instead of having to spend crowns."
Does that bother you? that ZOS has lied to you? ZOS lies all the time.
I already lost count of how many times i read that they fixed the group finder.
