600 GEMS for ICE CAT MOUNT??

2 yrs ago ZOS introduced a mount to the game that at the time was the most expensive cosmetic item to ever hit the store, the great elk mount for 4.5k crowns

the outrage back then was palpable, numerous threads all across the forums of players protesting this greedy price push.

Now 2yrs later we have them selling a mount that is NEARLY 5X MORE EXPENSIVE than the 4.5k elk mount and the outrage is relatively contained

it's sad how they ripped us off for so long, most people just got numb to it. It's like one poster above said, next year when they offer a mount for 800 gems the 600 gem mount today will have looked like a deal

Normally I itch to collect every cat mount they come out with, but I've never had 600 crown gems in my life, and I'm not going to spend an obscene amount of money to try to get one. And not only that, in the pic on the website it's got the normal cat mount's tail, so now it just looks to me like a lion with a sabre cat head stuck on it

Zos did not price the mount for those sitting on 10 gems since anyone foolish wealthy enough to waste that much money on crates is already spending.

Zos is pricing the mount to try to increase crate sales. Hoping some players will like it enough to buy more crates to get crowns.

There is an old saying. A fool and there money will soon part. That is the entire idea behind the crates to begin with.

I was dreaming about this mount since it was first datamined, I even saved a picture so I could look at it each day

I was 100% sure it will be New Life limited time offer when we got Crystalfrost skin on PTS

But I was almost sure it will just be in store and cost 3 - 4k crowns. My friend thought it will be crate exclusive for 100 gems... We both were partially right

I would buy this mount anyway cause I like the look, so even the fact that it's very expensive gems-exclusive wouldn't stop me. I can only complain about one thing - this mount is not 100% classy for such high price tag

It really lacks 2 basic things which everyone would naturally expect: special summoning animation (it just appears out of nowhere, like simple sabre cat), and mysterious sounds (it sounds like a simple senche and has additional special "icy" audio effects only when you summon it and when it roars) :'(
So far even every 400 gems mount had special summoning animation and many of them have special sounds when they idle,roar, jump...

The mount is very good itself, it has all the nice details and feels like a sports-car when you ride it and look at this cool armor on legs. But why didn't designers make the mount perfect and truly finished?..
It could appear like Frost Atronachs would do (see Iceheart boss assembling itself from ice, or Storm Atronach crate mounts assemble themselves from rocks)?..

Or at least simple "rising out of the ground" animation like most of special mounts do.
And change the simple senche voice to something like Frost Atronachs sound. Or add strong distortion with some winter/icy/snowy theme

I was dreaming about it for so long, and today I was excited whole day before I could finally buy it late in the evening - only to be so disappointed by such basic things...

That's what's holding me back from buying it. Special animations/sounds are pretty much mandatory at that price. Anything else is, unfortunately, lazy.

Every year, ZOS has became more greedier. I think it's safe to say that the company has lost its way to make good quality products but instead just slap an insane pricetag on everything.

I feel bad for finally woking my friends to play this game after years of attempt.

Get 600 gems from zero is equal to spend 60/70€ in crown crates, is much better if they selling those special items in euro in the ESO website store, like 20€ for the Mount as example, is more honest in my opnion and maybe i would buy it.

I have 300 gems. Since I can only earn more gems through crates I'm no longer buying...I might be sitting on these suckers for awhile.

Uh, if the $30 horse had better stats, that would be "pay to win". Which would be much worse.

Personally, I'm fine with expensive cosmetics. If people want to spend $500 on a pair of "name brand" pre-damaged jeans, who am I to argue. It's better than necessary stuff being overpriced.

The Hollowjack Crates bombed hard and FO76 was a sales disaster - so the various marketing departments must be cracking the whip for Q4 revenues.

The removal of free crate sources makes so much sense now. Additionally, people said that they could raise prices after the bonus ESO Plus crowns - looks like they have!

Alcast claimed his sources said ESO was making $50 million a year.

I have 497 gems. There is no way in hell I will buy Xanmeer crates to get the 103 I am missing. In fact, ZOS would have to pay me about 100 bucks for me to accept even one of those things on my account. I am happy that there has been no freebie Xanmeer crates either. With my luck, the free ones would've contained nothing but apex mounts, and if I was stuck with having any of those utterly deranged lizard hybrid things in my collection, I'd get a serious urge to uninstall the game right then and there. They are that hideous and disgusting.

So.. with 103 gems short, there is no way I am able to get this mount. And that annoys me, since it is the first special mount, in as long as I can remember, that I'd actually like to have, and would've been perfect for my third most played character.

The ambivalent thanks comes form the fact that if I'd had bought this one, I'd have been pretty pissed about the fact that it lacks a special summoning animation and doesn't apparently have frosty sound FX while running about. So it is in fact an inferior special mount, shoddily put together, and priced out of the wazoo. Thankfully I can't buy it and be even more disappointed.

1. They know how many gems are in circulation.
2. They know that the lizard mounts aren't very popular.
3. ZOS employees need to buy Xmas gifts for the kids.

This is to get some gems out of circulation and sell the crates since I doubt the previous season sold very well either.

I'd be willing to pay quite a few crowns for the mount. If it were in a crown crate I'd be willing to buy crates to try to get it and maybe spend gems on it. As it is though, it feels like ZoS is trying to get us to buy crown crates that we don't want just so we can maybe get enough gems for the frost saber cat. It feels more like ZoS is taking advantage of its players rather than offering them a fun cosmetic item for a clear price. I'm pretty disappointed in ZoS on this one.

Just the way of things in gaming these days. Developers used to make decisions with gamers in mind, since at heart, they too were gamers. Now the whales who are *** at games and couldn't care less about the quality of the product control the decisions. Why cater to fans dropping a few bucks now and then when you got some sucker dropping 1000 for shinies who doesn't complain when content sucks? Take my advice, vote with your wallet for now and pray for a change. Until then just save yourself some trouble and kick anyone with one of these crap mounts, they'll quit halfway through your dungeon after dpsing with double ice staff heavy armor.

And you forget to mention they kinda cut us off from free gems from daily login, and twitch drops practically do not drop anymore... It is clearly their new strategy saying: "Buy the lootboxes crates for $ if you want something cool, we don't care about you being able to earn some nice rewards".

For me the few crates they were giving us for free was showing they allowed us to get something nice from crown store for free just by being in the game, doing some events, from daily logins or watching twitch. We never got immediatly what we wanted but I was always looking forward to what I can get once in a while for the gems.

Now... they took it away from us and give us a choice: pay to get it or give up.

PS: I tried buying crates gift from other players for gold, the result was 5-10 crown gems per crate ... considering we need 300 gems and 15 crates is 5000 crowns it means we need (if we are lucky) 10k crowns to get just the nixad pet or 3m gold (if we buy crowns 300g=1 crown). It is a bit insane... guess the Mad God has taken over the prices in ESO Crown Store.

sadly they are making more money selling a broken product than spending the resources to fix that product. At the end of the day, their higher ups go home with a big paycheck, and their players generally logoff with a headache

Screw that, if it was at least 400 gems it would be somewhat acceptable, it's not even glowing like Radiant Apex mounts, so 400 like normal Apex mounts would be fitting.
With that price, it's not good enough for me to start buying crates just to get those gems, while I don't even need or want anything in current crates, aside of that dark scale smooth skin.

I have so many mounts now, I don't feel the need to spend a small fortune on any others. How many mounts can you possibly use? I think at this point I can use a different mount a day for a month or more. And I probably have a small collection compared to others.

I mean, I could always use some more "plain" horses. Without flashy effects or blingy adornments. I like the simple stuff and I like each of my characters to have their own.

I see everyone complaining about these prices being so high, nobody appears to care that it's merely a cosmetic.

Also nobody seems to notice that it's us - the playerbase - that allows this to take place. Why would you blame ZOS here? If they know people are... let's say intelligent... enough to spend thousands of dollars on cosmetics, why would they lower the price?

there are plenty of people that care it is cosmetic. for lots of people, cosmetics are the end game in ESO and seeing this greedy trend from ZOS increase over the years is very disappointing
