The future of Sorc Healers

I'm just gonna say 4 things:

    1. Shields' cast time must BE REVERTED.
Nothing to talk about this. There are so many ways to nerf shields, but NOT THIS.

    2. I'm sry but delaying half of the dark deal & dark Exchange's resource return, and they still have a cast time is ZOS's so call sustain IMPROVEMENT for sorc?
Pls, be fair. Remove the cast time and this change is quite good. Really makes slot dark exchange worth it in PVE.

    3. The Damage magicsorc deal in pve contents is now truely pathetic and, still I can't see any hope in this subject.
mNB in group post his/her cmx \
mSorc in group post his/her cmx \
    "Oh, well that's fine. 'Cause u r a mSorc." Says mNB \

    4. Cost reduction for Daedric Prey and pets special attack is good, but resource is not the major concern pets sorcs have now., those 1 shot kill-my-pets and those-ya-can't-tell-but-pets-just-not-fit-in-group mechanics are.

This was also my first thought when I saw the dark exchange change, but felt like my comment was already way too long to include as well.

I've always considered that the 1sec cast time was to mitigate what a great burst heal and resource return this was. If we're no longer getting everything at once as a burst then what exactly is the cast time mitigating? Without a cast time this is definitely something I'd slot. As instant cast it'd be good for pve magsorc and also better for sorc tanks. If it keeps the cast time then it's kind of just a nerf that's not helping anyone.

Didn't realize the 3rd bar was useful for Sorc healers. Far as I can see, they don't bring anything to the table compared to other classes, even DK healers. In my mind Sorc healers need much more help than even suggested here.

    More food for thought

Shield is 1 sec + 1.5 secs to summon the pets. This is bad for healers who need to react a d buff allies.

These changes can't go live. Purely the impact to Sorc healers is enough to stop many of them.

They drive the agenda on role diversity, pushing odd combinations like sorc tanking, yet throw Sorc Healing in the can with these changes to ward & 3rd bar.

I don't know why we bother tho. I feel for the class reps, especially Tasear on this topic.

I'm so glad I dropped my main Sorc Healer and made it a stamSorc. With Summerset, they were left behind. While every other class got huge buffs to healing abilities (so much needed though), Sorc Healers got nothing. Actually, they were kind of nerfed due to Twilight Remedy set being obsolete.

Now with Overload redesign, is there even anything unique to Sorc Healers?
    - No healing passive abilities
    - No healing active abilities (well, Matriarch ... everybody knows what's going on with pets in end game content)

The only skill unique to Sorc Healers is Liquid Lightning providing synergy to tanks for Alkosh ... great. Everybody loves being one button support monkey.

Whats the point having class reps then?

In that case, they did not. The OL changes have been on the "suggestion" list. Of course, it was horribly naive to put them there.

Yes to be fair it was mentioned in multiple instances that overload isn't being used by Sorc dps. On that same token the healer things were mentioned for along with some players having trouble switching.

No where was it suggestioned to remove the third bar. Now yes ultimate issue was reported and fixed in wolf Hunter.

Also for the record we share concerns and combat changes are done by combat team. Right now class reps are now also tasked with listening to results of their feedback. Why doesn't it work. Why does it work. What are you happy about? What are you concerned about?

I don't know about PvE DPS, but I know a good bit about PvP. Using OL is very risky. You have to know exactly who your firing at. One reflect from a DK, plus your mention of having trouble switching, is why I never use it in the first place. I would consider trying it now, but the more important thing to me is this shield cast time. Please mention to them that lag plays a HUGE factor in Cyrodiil, and this cast time thing will compound that exponentially =/

Yes it was worded differently in the notes, but overload was mentioned as used by Sorc gankers and lack precedent in pve because it was to hard for players to switch into. I personally had to issues, but it was serious issues for dps Sorcs. They couldn't do enough damage and it was hard to use skill in pve.

For the same reason a OL, Mend Spirit was too clunky to work into a rotation, I can't see myself using OL but as a healer I originally used it for the extra bar space.

Pets take up slots, which I'd rather load up on utility/support skills for group, not dead weight.

With pets, I need to shield them, which is now going to be passively worked into a rotation rather than proactively/reactively using it (cast time makes that too difficult).

I hate slotting bound aegis for the 8% max magic, but it feels essential to have with a pet (same with inner light but it's more satisfying), despite never activating it.

Absorption Field costs a lot and doesn't provide any utility, I'm more opt to use the Storm Atronach for the synergy because of this, and it lasts longer.

Minor prophecy buff for spell crit being 6% I nice, now I MUST have a dark magic ability slotted. (But which as a healer?)

Anything else is outside of the sorc toolkit...

Not healer related but I'm surprised ZoS did nothing for Twilight Tormentor (again).

I suspect that the change to buff Bound Aegis might be an attempt to get people to use that more if you can't pop a sheild instead.

Which is crappy for healers and pet sorc dps because blocking does nothing to protect your pet.

And I say this as someone who actually really likes Bound Aegis and uses it a lot. I think it gets a lot of hate but if you get into the habit of using it right before you block it's awesome... If you're a non-pet build.

So if that is their logic (it may not be, but who even knows at this point) then it needs to be pointed out what flawed logic it is.

Based on how they are doing "class balance" I'm going to go ahead and assume the combat lead dev for ESO is either a stamwarden or a stamblade. More likely a nightblade, since warden has been underperforming in pve whereas NB has been overtuned in pve & PVP. I wonder if they even play end game pve vet hms or regular pvp.

Above is 3 years of work

We still have meeting coming up and we were told pts is for testing as such implied things can change, but we do have to show why our concerns are important.

Why your concerns are important? Well you can tell ZoS that the only explanation they need is that it doesn't feel good and a large portion of the community shares in the sentiment that some of these changes are unwarranted, not liked, not wanted, and not fun.

If they need any more than that then they have Bungie-itus and I feel sorry for them. Cause learning this lesson the hard way usually costs studios egregious sums of money in the end.

To far in a way many of the changes not just healer ones where a result of feedback given. It's just somethings lead to unexpected or undesirable results. So yes they have been listening well. Some of the postive changes are from the feedback given by he players to the class reps and delivered to the devs. A different topic all together, but let me share with those listening in what I personally see changed as a result of class rep notes.

    Overload
    - It's unforunate but I did agree with this but when spoken it more of making it easier to use for players. Just the results where unexpected.

    Earthen Heart
Ash Cloud: Increased the healing done by approximately 50%.

^ many people spoke that they weren't finding it a good enough heal.

Nightblades dps overtaking nightblade healers and other healers in their roles because of off healing+ damage they can provide

Shield change - Never was it our attention, but we did mention healers not having a place in gameplay because people don't need to heal themselves

There's more but those things come off the top on my head. On that note p.t.s is for testing and giving feedback how changes affect your ESO experience and now class reps are here to talk about how the changes even some we influenced affect the gameplay experience..

    More issues

    * Unlike the other 4 classes Sorc doesn't have damage migration option for an entire trial team now that war horn doesn't give minor toughness.( War horned used to be offensive and defensive ultimate)

Not sure if I mentioned it but pets take two to 3 slots with 1.5 to 2.5 sec cast time.

Sorcs unique buff is shared with Warden who also gives stamina regain ontop of msgicka regain for 20 secs and instant cast time.

Yeah, drop the twilight entirely at this point.
    Just run all resto skills.

Sorc, worst tank, worst healer because of non existent utility.

You can get the sorc utility passives from a dps easier to cover the minor prophecy and just don't bother with the rest.

Hilariously the only other sorc utility is the minor intellect from empowered ward, which won't save your twilight, so it's not really a healer skill.

At this point we might have to start thinking about a sorc rework, I know templar were whining about temp reworks but the recent changes feel like enough to fix them, sorc are going to need a similar overhaul.

I am thinking we are going to need skills with multiple utilities to them to make up for the lack of bar space, the way spear shards used to be overloaded for templars.

I kind of really love the 360 healing of the twilight, its just got to be smarter, I want it to stick close to important targets, like fly over to the person most in need of healing you know what I mean.

    I will put this here.

    Overload:

The idea is interesting but it could get some additional changes.
    • Make it deplete 5/10 ultimates every 1/2 seconds, it should reward skilful rotation. If your weaving is perfect you would make better use of this ultimate, get better damage and restore more magicka.
Let's imagine you have 170 ultimate, the choice between an atronach and overload should be interesting ... Overload should deal more damage than the atronach IF your weaving is perfect ( + help with sustain ) WHILE atronach would be useful IF you can't weave properly or want to play a pet build or/and don't have any sustain issue and so want to grant major berserk to 1 ally.
    • overload proc enchantment of the bar you are currently on ( this is a nice thing ) ... make it so your right hand hold the staff and do a LA while the other hand could do an OL LA if the ultimate is active ( both would hit at the same time )
    • What about the morphs ? One give 1K magicka each time you do an OL LA, the other morph increase the LA range and the HA radius, nobody care about OL HA, and the increased range on OL LA is not needed since the base range is the same as a standard LA = it mean you don't need to get closer to the boss when you active the ultimate ... They should better merge both morphs into one and keep the 3rd bar on a morph ( the 3rd bar is really useful and unique on both stam and magsorc for PVP ).
    • About the OL HA, Nobody is gonna use that ... I would prefer to charge the ultimate on trash and keep it for boss, I don't think i'm the only one. They should better make it a beam we could use on atronach or pets increasing their damage during X sec or a Dot ... Anything.

    Pets

Pets take two bar slots, stucks behind wall and under the floor, triggers mechanics in Vas and VAA, CC and prevent grab, these are the firsts pet pain points and the reason you can't bring them in raid
    • Scamp and daedric prey both cost 500 less magicka, i's interesting ! Thank for this change.
    • The tormentor change is laughable, the few players who play a pets build in pve and pvp prefer the Matriarch morph , 15% reduced cost on tormentor special attack isn't gonna make it interesting when the special attack we are talking about is beyond uselessness.

    Dark Conversion

I'm still wondering if it's supposed to be a buff or a nerf. How much is that ? 8K health + 2400 magicka instant then 2400 magicka over 20 sec ( = 120 magicka each sec). It's supposed to help sorc with sustain ? ( because it's not better than the previous version, it's even worse ) Or it's just a PVP nerf ? A Developer Comment is needed.
    • if your goal is to make it interesting in both PVE and PVP, here is an idea (not the best):
" Dark Conversion: Cost 2000 stamina ~ Cast-T : Instant ~ Duration: 20,4 sec ~ Self : Bargain with darkness, restore 8K health and 4696 Magicka after 1,2 sec. [ Then restore 1100 health and 230 magicka each 1,2 sec during 19,2 sec. After 1,2 the skill deplete 350 stamina each second, until you run out of stamina or the ability is toggled off]. You can be interrupted within 1,2 sec after you used the ability, in this case it won't restore the cost of the skill.

Or Same thing But restore 2500 magicka after 1,2 sec instead of 4696 and you won't lose 2000 stamina if someone interrupt you
I really like this idea, make it a toogle like mend wound ( requiered on one bar only), toggle the skill on ... wait 1,2 sec then toggle it off, and repeat if you only care about the first part of the skill, or keep it on and it will start draining your stamina while restoring your health and magicka each 1,2 sec after 1,2 sec.

    • Dark Conversion: Cost 2250 stamina ~ Cast-T : Instant ~ Self : Bargain with darkness, restore 8K health and 4696 Magicka after 1,2 sec. and 2500 magicka over 20 second. you can be interrupted within 1,2 sec after you used the ability, in this case it won't restore the cost of the skill.

Or Same thing But restore 2500 magicka after 1,2 sec instead of 4696, cost 2000 stamina, and you won't lose 2000 stamina if someone interrupt you
( This would make the ability useful in PVE cause the cast time is the main problem ) and keep it useful in PVP.

    Rune cage
Initial and early feedback for Sorcerers is that their class is walking in place with the buff-nerf cycle to Rune Prison.

Seriously ? a new visual effect will display on the target to indicate this effect during 1,2 sec before it stun the target ?! Do you really think increasing the damage and the stun by 22% and 1 sec is gonna help ?
    • Most of the time you won't stun anyone with that ... If you stun someone they will break free easily within 3 sec ... And if they break free it won't deal any damage ... make it deal deal damage when the stun ends ( even if the target break free) would be a good step, even though I don't think it would worth slotting ... Clench is better and can be used instead force pulse ... and with all the nerf coming ( shields, 3rd bar gone ) we will need a lot of bar slot !

    Crystal

Good change but not enough, atleast our main skill escaped the 1st PTS nerf wave.

    Bound armor
Bound Armor needs to be more worthwhile
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/428310/sorcs-do-you-use-the-active-effect-of-bound-armor/p1

Why ? Add this block mitigation bonus in " Rebate " when we active bound armor ... or give us another bonus when we active Bound Aegis
    • Bound Aegis: Cost 3443 magicka ( reduce the cost ? ): Protect yourself and your pets ( cooool ) with the power of Oblivion, Creating a suit of Daedric mail for you and your pets that increases your block mitigation by 36% for 3 seconds, also anchor your Daedric Familiar in Tamriel during 42 sec. While slotted, your Max [...]

Isn't that cool ? " Anchor " mean you would not need them on Both bar ... If you don't refresh the buff you will need to reactive the pet, it's the risk and it reward skilful rotation. Of course they would need to slightly change the pet ( see below).
If you have the scamp or the twillight on 1 bar and barswitch ... they would just stand where they are " screaming" during 1 sec then dissapear unless you active bound aegis or barswitch )

It's unfortunate but seems a playstyle will be gone next patch. I must say really enjoyed it for being rewarded for effective timing, but won't be as such next patch. It just seems boring at the moment.

The good things are won't need ward to keep up pet, but at last does seem like the last utility is gone with high possiblity of Sorc dps using empowerard ward

Gear wise I would try shalks and jorvulds to play on last remaining class identity feature for utility. I hope things will be looked at in the future. :(

As a class rep, I can only convey concerns, so I start thread for something that concerns me deeply and I feel other players should discuss on.

The overload changes destory a build I have shared with community for years and put in countless hours to test ideas and share variations. By taking away the third bar you leave Sorc Healers without options or balance.

    Negate
This isn't a good support ultimate as the effects hardly work in content. Why because you have to time it pricelessly right for it have any impact. I have tested it and the stun doesn't work even on at some non elite trash mobs.

Pets take two bar and now Sorcs only have 2 bars. This makes them provide - minus utility compared to other 4 classes of healers. Let's not forget pet still can die and likely needs a shield.

On that note the shield changes ...one sec cast time with will cause additional struggles with maintain the pet pet in gameplay situation where you won't hay a second to respond to changes.

Other things 10% Magicka regain doesn't add up correctly ..in fact hircine used to provide stamit regain but gave cost reduction instead because math didn't add up to useful support to teamates ... especially damage dealers where the gain is not noticable.

Storm annotach can't be used by healers as it only supports 1 Ally and healers have to think about the team.

A side note overload now does less damage so healers will lack in this too.

Disclaimer: As a class rep, I only convey pain points and how it affects player's. Also things things are issues I advocated before in a 7 page document for all Healers.
