All this time later: Have you bought the banker or merchant?

They are the very last on my list of what I would eventually buy from store. Price is too high for such things, even with crown sales; banker doesn't offer guild store (I often go to bank just to list something in store), merchant can't repair... And most important: they don't work in Cyrodiil/IC where they are actually needed :D

Well, as embarrassed as I am to ask this question, I just want to end the insanity, I have the merchant, WELL WORTH IT TOO, but I see people say the banker is better, PLEASE, what am I missing? I can go without putting gold in the bank for weeks, but going without selling/clearing out my inventory, doesnt take long before I need a merchant.

    How is the banker better?

The banker is better because you can find merchants in the wild fairly often, and in cities, there are lots of them, whereas there is only one banker in a city, sometimes in places that take a couple of mins to get to.

There are probably 10 merchants to each banker on the game, if not more.

    Banker yes. Merchant no.

There is no point having to the merchant. She can't repair your armor so she is worse than trash. If you need inventory space, dump the trash into your banker, then sell it to a real merchant later.

@luton0watford4, Thanks so much!!, for answering my question, very much appreciated :) .
After your answer though I still feel I made the best decision, the merchant by far seems the best to me ;) .

For dungeons, events, etc, the Merchant wins my vote ten fold, the Banker, not so much. I can carry a lot of money for a lonnnnggg time before I need to worry about putting it in the bank, just my thoughts on it.

So all of you guys are fine with Zenimax charging almost the cost of a full xbox one game for a gimped in-game service that took them no time at all to program and implement in comparison?

I remember the days when you had to leave a dungeon to sell/bank if your inventory was full. Having the banker/merchant is so much more convenient and, therefore, makes my gameplay more enjoyable so..........the answer to your question is YES!!

Anyone with a functioning brain would, I hope, give their inventory a quick cleaning and/or make sure they have enough space before they commit to a dungeon. if you ever cap your stuff in the middle of a dungeon run, it means you messed up. You only need like 60-80 slots for a dungeon run, which is practically a non-upgraded bag.

This statement is a bit over the top. I have a perfectly functioning brain and there are times, especially when doing the dailies bouncing from Dungeon to Dungeon that the 20-30 free spots I have get filled, having the merchant/banker means we don't have to leave, it is a convenience thing, necessity, not at all but your insinuation is just idiotic.

What on earth are you carrying (and what is your bag space) that you only have 20-30 free bag spots at a time? On my main character, a magicka NB, who is also my hypermaxed crafter, I have a 200 bag count and can typically shave my bag space down to 60 or even 40 when I get rid of everything I don't actually need to be carrying. I do not have ESO plus right now, but I did at one point.

No disrespect, but how do you know? I received a letter once from a University where they wanted to have test results from people with healthy brains to compare for their studies ... I sensed a trap right there! No way I let them scan my brain for a cuppa and before I know it I'll get a white west (edit: vest) and a cushiony room without windows and food in pill form three times a day ... (hint: not an astronaut).

I keep several different builds on my NB at a time, plus master writs, any number things. This response it a bit more on point, rather than insinuating that someone is otherwise incapable of making intelligent decisions was my issue. I suppose I could carry less, but with the merchant/banker I don't have to, again its a convenience/QOL purchase.

To the people talking about 5k crowns for ten to be less functional than the in game bankers/merchants. That's still a better deal than 5k crowns for a house with no purpose

I have both but it took me awhile to buy them after they came out because of how much they cost. I bought the banker first and then a bit later the merchant. I really wish the merchant had the repair armor ability, for the amount of crowns you pay she really should.

The banker is extremely useful if you have multiple characters, and want to transfer stuff between characters ... stuff like recipes and weapons/armor that another character can use or research.
And it's a lot easier to find a merchant than it is to find a bank.

I want the banker, but so expensive... I would need to buy crowns on sale for him. He's worth $40 USD if you buy the 5500 crown pack, but waiting for crowns to go on sale, he could be even cheaper.

Nope. The price is ridiculous. I've been managing quite well without those so far. I guess it's different when you spend HOURS on grinding and "dolmening".. but it's so boring. I tried that for an hour..and had to quit..otherwise I'd have gauged my eyes out and stuck needles in my hands..

Yes and I'm not happy at all with the AI package they got, they move around right after you close the interface so you are forced to go after them.

Plus, the interface suddenly closes because (AI) they move!

ZOS have been sloppy and didn't correct a problem that is there, I guess, from release.

I'm very disappointed, while they are certainly useful, for the money these products cost, ZOS should assign an appropriate (very basic) AI package where they just stand still and put an end to this annoying issue.

I do not recommend to buy until the AI get fixed, if you are not in dire need of them, DO NOT BUY.

I got the banker on EU when banker and merchant were first released. I don't have him on NA, as I play there less often. But whenever I do, I really miss the convenience he brings.

Nope, at that price ZOS can shove them up there... ! Well you get the idea. I'll go buy a brand new game for the cost of one of these and they aren't even full featured so I have no plans to ever purchases these 2 assistants. Maybe at 2500 crowns each I would consider it, but 5k is just absurd IMO! Too each their own though but they aren't for me, I have better things to spend my hard earned money on.

I sub to ESO+ and buy additional crowns for other items so I enjoy supporting this game but not these assistannts.

If I may ask, what do you spend your crowns on then? Just about everything else in the store is pure cosmetics... So... why wouldn't you get something useful...

Depends, I know I have ESO+ but I usually use the ESO+ allotment of Crowns to buy the DLC Collector Edition packs since usually I want the mount and pet with them and generally the C.E. packs cost 300-500 more crowns than buying the mount and pet so this way if I let my subscription lapse for a while then I still have all DLC. As for the additional purchased packs, it depends, costumes, mounts, pets, motifs if I feel the price is not absurd and it's something I want.

I would like to have the merchant and banker but at 5000 crowns in my opinion is just far too much for digital content. It's the price of a game so I'd rather buy a game because I can make do without either. I either go back to town or someone in the group has them so I find no need to spend $100 for 2 assistants that aren't even fully featured.

Too each their own but they aren't for me. Half price then for sure but not at this price.

I was skeptical and reluctant. But eventually, I got them from accumulated sub crowns.

    Best. Purchase. Ever.

Also, the Personal Assistant addon is a must--it lets me bind a hotkey to each of the assistants. So no need to waste a quickslot (or even fuss with the quickslot wheel) or dig through menus or anything. Just one press of a single key. (I did F6 = Merchant, F7 = Banker, F8 = Fence)

Best purchase I've ever made in any MMO hands down.

I got them the day they were released and have used them both every time I've played ever since.

As someone with limited playtime it has accumulated alot over the past year and a half. I estimate that I save at least 20min on a daily basis, so over the past year and a half that would equal about 180h of playtime that I have used in dungeons, farming or questing instead of banking and selling. Now of course I havent played every single day during this time, but either way - thumbs up!

Sure, it's a high initial cost, but when you consider how much use you get out of them it's a bargain in the end.
