    • XB1 - 90th percentile - 412k gold

    • PC - 90th percentile - 890k gold

Interesting, much lower than I would have thought. Makes feel rich with my massive 4 million I've managed to hoard up over the years.

I don't know how I did it but I managed to make nearly 50m or more in about 2 months since the Morrowind launch, started morrowind with like 800k and 100 patterns, lol.

I tend to surf the guild vendors and buy sets i think are interesting and try out new builds.

Most I've ever had at once is 200k. Just recently I logged on after a long break, saw that I had 165k, spent 100k of it on crap from guild vendors. It's a really bad problem...

And yet there are people like "Oh lordy everything is SOO cheap I'm sitting on 50 million oh what ever shall I spend my pennies on? Woe is me and my cyber wallet."

Yeah I don't know how much gold i'd have total if I added up everything I spent, have every single in game motif, 1,169 patterns, DC manor + Hundings fully decorated

Thats when most money is made, new expansion, new items to loot table, selling those items. Has to be within the month or two, which is what you did.

Thanks for this comment. Would be cool if you guys added a page with all stats to the website. Gold distribution, achievement points distribution, maybe how many people completed each dungeon/achievement, got a pvp rank etc. Not that it should be your first priority or anything, but I'm sure some of us would really appreciate it :)

    Sweet info, thanks.
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

Some players are into triple digits of millions with at least one i known breached 300m.

For some reason its getting harder and harder to sell things above 100k though, either cause most of everyone that wanted it has it now, or those that can't afford it since they can't get into a good trading guild and have no gold to buy with.

Nothing in the game worth that much except BiS weapons due to their low drop rate. used to be the BoE gear, especially the gold jewelry, from trials but that has gone. The economy is still solid and when an update brings in some gear desired by enough players some stuff goes for a pretty penny in the beginning.

Well the new patterns sure do go for 300k+ atleast, and the BA motifs are still selling averagely for about 100-250k per page, just takes a longer period of time to sell now I guess since everyones saving for the dlc.

Ok, but that didn't really answer the question of "what is the point?". There is no purpose to hoarding gold in game.

Being rich in ESO is very comfortable.
You can buy all motifs you don't feel like farming, buy all houses you fancy or just for the sake of having them all, buy all kinds of furniture, recipes, blueprints... if you start a new toon you don't have to wait for a double XP event, you can buy all the XP boosters you need. You can buy titles and achievements (getting carried by "pro" guilds), you can golden a new non-BiS set just for wearing it every now and then for the lulz, you can buy pots and ingredients if you don't fancy farming and don't have time for it, etc.

Just like IRL money, it doesn't make you happy, doesn't buy you love or true friends, but it does make one's life more comfortable.

However, unlike IRL money, it doesn't pervert your relationships with other people. Gold isn't that important in ESO that people will hang around with you just for your gold. Which inevitably happens when you're rich IRL.

Amassing wealth IRL is a bit different - I'm no 1%er, but I do very well. The reason I amass wealth IRL is for the overall security and future for myself and my family,

I had a friend who last time I talked to him said he had 200 million and was explaining that for the year or so I hadn't talked to him had basically just been doing trading ingame. I'm sure there are people with a lot more gold than that though, especially those that mainly trade in ESO, as well as those that exploited the Grand Overlord scrolls and sold several for 4million a piece a while back.

While I'll never get that much I do wish there were other gold sinks in game that just housing, I think most people with a lot of gold already have most of the houses anyway, but I'd like to see something like super expensive mounts and vanity items, you know something that doesn't just come from the Crown Store..

I had a friend who said he had 600,000,000,000,001 gold
doesn't mean anything if you haven't seen it in trade screen

If I could sell one of the Houses I bought with crowns for a nice lump sum of gold, I would in a heartbeat. I got hasty and bought two when Homestead came out and I don't even visit one of them, it's useless (more so than the one I actually visit) and I don't want it anymore. But nooooo.

As you say "could", but you can't... by assets i was talking about items you can sell and have a price.

    1%?

    Over 50 million

People only say stuff like 20 mill or other numbers close to that, because its reachable.

    The 1%... Is not reachable

1 mil to 5 mil is what I like to call, lower class, the 10 - 80%.
No one has 5-10 mil when you get over 5 mil, you start to rack in gold fast, easily get to 10 mil, but 10 to 50 mil is what I call upper class.

5-10 mil is middle class, hardly anyone sitting in that range.
anyone with under 1 mil, those are new players, or players right outta college with a degree and still getting paid minimum wage. Thats the kind of players under 1 mil.

lol no, 5-10 m is not middle class, nor is 1 mill new players. 90% of people in this game don't even have 412k gold and thats official stats from game developer in this thread for xbox 1. 50m+ is 0.1% those are rich people whose name you recognize right away as you probably seen it so much in traders. I have about 2mil. Been in game since launch. Mostly a pvper. So I'm glad to see I'm more well off than I thought. I've spent alot, all on armor, weapons, jewelry, mats for crafting equipment, and of course the gold tempers. My guess would be close to a hundred gold items in bank I've improved.

Anyway, I sell what I find in a couple guild stores that have been awesome. I make purple food to sell, some purple glyphs, and that's about it. I would say 5-10k average sales per day. I just make sure to keep them full and I get by.

But also I've traded between friends in guild for mats and alchemy stuff ect with gold not involved. So say master writs for Columbine or perfect roe. Oh ya, I do writs every day with one toon.

Anyway, my point is I'm pretty casual as it comes to money, just get in a trade guild, keep it full, and over a little time you will become top ten percent apparently. Cheers.

I'm guessing they're referring to the 90% percantile of people keeping 850k at all times, or how much they've spent in the past like someone said we should count luxury as well as just gold
