How much gold to become 1%ter?

There are a surprising number of players in the range of hundreds of millions. I suspect a few have billions.

In my case, if I ever save up enough to pay off my bounty I will be shocked.

If someone has a billion I bet ZoS let them get away with keeping the 1.0 dupes that had over 9 million stacks of Alloys

Well, it's not necessary to use exploits. There are some players who consistently sell around 5 - 10m every week in each of 5 guilds (or maybe even 10 or 20 guilds if they have multiple accounts). Maybe they also spend millions each week, but over time it adds up to Scrooge McDuck swimming pool of gold.

Yeah true, but to have a billion even playing every day since the game came out, seems highly unlikely, but yeah it might be possible if they made 1m a day every day since day 1.

I consider myself poor with about 3 million banked and about 10 million spent. I'm sure ZOS won't release player info, but I'm certain there are many folks over 100 million.

Botter guilds are laughing at this thread and posts.

I'd say on the Xbox Eu-
1% rich would be 10 million plus
10% would be over 2 million

This is from the people I've played with/met and also based on the lower level population base, many are poor, very poor.

PC is probably higher though because they likely have more hardcore players.

    Top1%: 10 mil
    Top10%: 1 mil

I know I know, seems a bit low, but I think there are huge amount of players who have under 1 mil, thus lowering the limit of 10% and 1%.

I myself have a bit over 1 mil, and that's just because I don't have anything expensive to buy I would need

He's unlikely to respond, but I'll try anyway to summon @ZOS_RichLambert so he can provide stats on how much gold the top 1% have.

ESO's player base is like an iceberg; there's a huge portion of players who don't really interact with others, never come onto the forums, and play the game pretty casually, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if 1 million is all it took to be in the top 1%. 10 million would be the top 0.1%, I'd expect.

If all I do is farm (which when I broke my elbow is all did), I can make between 150k and 250k a day just farming in crag and cold harbour city.

It helped that I was able to play at times when the server wasn't that busy, can get 40+ alchemy mats easily in one circuit of Hollow City, but try that peak time and often I'm lucky to get 10

Most gold I ever heard anyone having is 28 million. It's not hard just got play the game as if it was a business sim.

It's not hard right now because there isn't much competition. It is unlikely to change (since it hasn't yet), but I have seen game markets turn on a dime and ruin people with large inventories. In one game, eastern Europeans entered the repricing market and prices fell across the board. My favorite was a player going by the name of something like Honey Bear. He taught me a bit about real world market manipulation and how to detect it without having to determine how much is stockpiled. He applied real world techniques, modified them as he learned the elements of an MMO market, and literally cornered the market on cheap consumables within a couple weeks...

Some very smart people play MMOs just to mindlessly ease the stress of their high pressure jobs.

    Lol, that sounds awesome. :D

Btw i dont know why, but a lot of stuff is much much more cheaper than i was few years ago.

I had a friend who last time I talked to him said he had 200 million and was explaining that for the year or so I hadn't talked to him had basically just been doing trading ingame. I'm sure there are people with a lot more gold than that though, especially those that mainly trade in ESO, as well as those that exploited the Grand Overlord scrolls and sold several for 4million a piece a while back.

While I'll never get that much I do wish there were other gold sinks in game that just housing, I think most people with a lot of gold already have most of the houses anyway, but I'd like to see something like super expensive mounts and vanity items, you know something that doesn't just come from the Crown Store..

For some reason its getting harder and harder to sell things above 100k though, either cause most of everyone that wanted it has it now, or those that can't afford it since they can't get into a good trading guild and have no gold to buy with.

I had 14 mil last week before I went on a spending spree - buying up all the houses I could afford. I now only have 400k and need another 4.5mil to my the last 4 large houses I have access to. If I focus on trading I could do that inside a couple of months.

I had already spent 6 mil on houses, so without housing I would be sitting on over 20 million.

Yeah same here big sink in the housing especially the patterns, once hit the 1.1k mark its basically expensive ones from there on, i'm at about 1,169 patterns now and fully decorated DC manor & Hundings.

    1%?

    Over 50 million

People only say stuff like 20 mill or other numbers close to that, because its reachable.

    The 1%... Is not reachable

1 mil to 5 mil is what I like to call, lower class, the 10 - 80%.
No one has 5-10 mil when you get over 5 mil, you start to rack in gold fast, easily get to 10 mil, but 10 to 50 mil is what I call upper class.

5-10 mil is middle class, hardly anyone sitting in that range.
anyone with under 1 mil, those are new players, or players right outta college with a degree and still getting paid minimum wage. Thats the kind of players under 1 mil.

I guess the question is WHY would you hoard gold? You don't win anything for being a 1%. It's Not like in real life where you can "flash" your wealth.

"Hey, I have 150 Million in my character's bank - wanna see it?"

I mean, there is ZERO reason to keep more gold on hand than enough to buy some tempers or something when you need it - this is not Monopoly...

You wouldn't know the feeling of being a 1%er

See... When you have wealth, your additional income is massive.
Those people at 1%, they could earn 1 million or more in a day starting from nothing to sell to selling stuff if they tried hard enough.

those people at 1% have a sickness, they like Steve Jobs.. addicted to making money. All they like to see is money money money. Obsessed. Addicted.
Its like they cannot log off until they have it set up so that the next day they will make a lot of money.

Ok, but that didn't really answer the question of "what is the point?". There is no purpose to hoarding gold in game.

Amassing wealth IRL is a bit different - I'm no 1%er, but I do very well. The reason I amass wealth IRL is for the overall security and future for myself and my family, but in game all you can really do is buy some stuff you may need down the road.

After making my first million in game (I have made around 8-9 million overall I would guess) I realized that there is really no point in accumulating massive amounts of gold. Mounts, costumes, personal banker, etc are all crown purchased - not gold.

I have 8 characters with full pack capacity, a bank at full slot capacity, and a master crafter that knows more motifs than will ever be useful. What else do I really need stores of gold for?

Interesting, much lower than I would have thought. Makes feel rich with my massive 4 million I've managed to hoard up over the years.
