Most gold I ever heard anyone having is 28 million. It's not hard just got play the game as if it was a business sim.

There are a surprising number of players in the range of hundreds of millions. I suspect a few have billions.

In my case, if I ever save up enough to pay off my bounty I will be shocked.

I consider myself poor with about 3 million banked and about 10 million spent. I'm sure ZOS won't release player info, but I'm certain there are many folks over 100 million.

It's not hard right now because there isn't much competition. It is unlikely to change (since it hasn't yet), but I have seen game markets turn on a dime and ruin people with large inventories. In one game, eastern Europeans entered the repricing market and prices fell across the board. My favorite was a player going by the name of something like Honey Bear. He taught me a bit about real world market manipulation and how to detect it without having to determine how much is stockpiled. He applied real world techniques, modified them as he learned the elements of an MMO market, and literally cornered the market on cheap consumables within a couple weeks...

Some very smart people play MMOs just to mindlessly ease the stress of their high pressure jobs.

This thread reminds me of a 2 hour discussion I had on MMO inflation and whether gold in an MMO economy can be considered a finite resource.

Pppppffffffffffttttt most gold i have ever had at one time is 500k and thats only because i won a guild raffle.

I spent it so fast.... to fast..... i hve a problem.


I tend to surf the guild vendors and buy sets i think are interesting and try out new builds.

Yeah just in the other post someone said he had about 200m, I probably would've had the same but I quit playing for 2 years and came back in December but I've made about 50m or more since morrowind started.

I have enough gold to not have to worry about it..... but I'm stingy. Once the Armiger Motifs come down to a more reasonable price, I'll spend some gold. Otherwise I just use my own found/crafter gear, upgraded with tempers I get from hirelings and refining, and with my own crafted food and potions - and keep the gold in the bank. My home is humble Snugpod, without housing storage I don't really need anything larger.

I don't doubt there are people sitting on a several hundred million gold, but with a few million, I think I'm rich enough already.

how much is your bounty??
i had 1.7mil its down to under 800k these days.

Over the course of the game, I've exceeded 50 million in sales (guild and zone). But unless actually saving for something (homes for example), it's pretty pointless to hoard gold for the sake of hoarding it. You have to have a couple (5 trading guilds are kinda tough to keep full with stuff that matters or returns an actual profit, especially if you actually play the game and not farm 24/7) guilds in high-volume areas that ALWAYS win their trader bid to be effective, else stuff will sit too long, which wastes time with no returns. I've spent most of that running different sets, different weapons, constantly respecing, buying gold jewlry, etc.

Well, it's not necessary to use exploits. There are some players who consistently sell around 5 - 10m every week in each of 5 guilds (or maybe even 10 or 20 guilds if they have multiple accounts). Maybe they also spend millions each week, but over time it adds up to Scrooge McDuck swimming pool of gold.
