No Love for our Warden Bear in the Horns of the Reach DLC :( : ( :(

Let me first tell you this.

I was a bear hater and now I have grown to love my bear (class defining ability of warden).

But I really wish my bear (the only ultimate that occupies two slots in the game) would be better.

Let us say I have this boss and I am sniping on him.

After like 2-3 snipes I get the aggro eventhough my bear was asked ( :'( "command pet") to hit him first while I initiated my attack with LAs.

Is it too much to ask for a taunt for my bear ?

It does not even have to be constant taunt but a taunt on an internal cooldown of X seconds would suffice.

So TLDR

How many of us would want a taunt (with a internal cooldown of X seconds) on our bear ?

Yup. All the Morrowind DLC did was make me miss my huntard and resub to WoW to play her. It's such ana amzing feeling to have a pet with a taunt and actually be able to pick what my pet looks like. Plus the fact that Vvardenfell had so little content and I blew through it all in two weeks.

    Honestly mate,

For a solo player (and not a PVP ***) I will be happy to get a hit on my dive skill if I get a taunt on my bear

I'm having far more fun on my Necromancer in Diablo III. Having an army of pets to do the heavy lifting for you feels amazing.

ZoS dropped the ball with the Bear. It could've been the strongest pet in the game (since it's an ult), but ZoS once again proves it fails to do anything intelligent, even when pointed in the right direction by players....

To be fair, that video of his is old and you shouldn't blindly believe one person. There are plenty of videos out there with people hitting 35-37K with magden and even clearing vMA flawlessly.

The bear is essentially a DoT, with an ulti execute. Why do people want it to be a tank as well? That would mess with tanks, if anyone actually took the bear into group content, and there is no reason for it in open world.

Bear don't really need a taunt, bur warden could use some buffs sure. Although that will be the day everyone jumps over the warden train and that would be a boring day.

Didn't all the taunts from combat pets (including Storm Antronach) get removed due to complaints from PvE groups about "stealing agro"?

None of them are able to taunt anymore as far as I know, but they can take agro from the player if their owner/summoner is the highest threat present. In group content that's almost never the case, but in solo play it's almost always active. Warden Bear can be improved sure but I don't think taunt is the path to take.

As someone who made a baby warden: I wish that they added 3 little squares on top of the 5 we get for when the bear is active (attack, taunt, stop attacking) bound to keys 6,7,8. The problem is I guess console users ugh.

As a tank: I wouldn't mind if the bear got a taunt when the warden heavy attacked. That's right! I said it. Just don't heavy attack the boss when we are in a dungeon and you can have your taunting bear. Besides I feel like if I was a warden I'd run two more useful ultimates in a group dungeon.

I just use the bear ultimate as a taunt. On elite boss mobs, I can send the bear in and use my Ultimate. I'll have a hard time pulling agro (I can if I go balls out on DPS) but for the most part, I can sit back, weave light attacks in between my snipes and cliff divers. Bear holds boss with no problems.

    Heavy attack an add.

Also I said that there are more useful ultimates a warden can/should slot during a dungeon than the bear ulti. Oh noes your light attack bear isn't helping us? What ever shall we do? Please. Bust out that cheap healing ult, a destro ult, a shooting star, lights champion, warhorn, pretty much anything else would be more useful during a boss attack. Which points to how the bear is a novelty not a useful tool.

I remember in vanilla wow a decade ago I built my hunter to specifically buff a bear pet so it had enough resist to tank in dungeons. That was fun. But we don't have the same controls here and we don't have the same skill trees where we can focus our build on our pets.

Hey guys, apologies for the delay. We got some answers tracked down for you and this is, actually, intended behavior. There were some changes for pets that went in back on the PTS, and unfortunately the patch notes for the changes were missed. Here are the things we changed and what is currently live:
[*]Removed passive healing from summoned pets.
[*]Increased a pet's damage reduction to radius attacks to 85% from 75%. This bonus applies to all attacks in Trials.
[*]Clannfear pets no longer taunt enemies in Trials.

They went back on the passive healing nerf so this is a bit outdated.

Also, it says trials. Meaning they still allow clanfear to taunt everywhere else. No reason why that same rule and exception can't be applied to bears.
