I use Riposte on my front bar when paired with Transmutation because the Riposte debuff is shorter than the Transmutation buff, and I spend the most time on my front bar. I figure that gives me the best arrangement for maintaining 100% uptime on both. I use Riposte on the back bar when paired with Lich or a damage set. Damage sets naturally go on front bar, but I choose to place Lich on front bar because Riposte is a defensive debuff. I figure having that on the back bar, my defensive bar, works best when I am under a ton of pressure and forced to stay on my resto bar for extended periods (healing ward spam, mist forming around, etc).
