    It's not a bug, and it never has been, no matter what you read on the forums. When ZOS says something is "unintended", what they really mean is that they didn't intend to hear any complaints about it, LOL.

    Animation cancelling is a byproduct of ESO's fast paced combat system. There isn't anything you could do to change it that wouldn't break the game, like introducing hard cooldowns to each and every action. No thanks!

    Why do people think that this is cheating, or that people with automatically jump to macroing? It isn't hard to do, by any means, adds a bit more depth and skill to combat, and has been officially embraced be ZeniMax a year and a half ago. I really don't understand the disdain and contempt people have for animation canceling. People jump to conclusions aboUT ZeniMax not being able to fix, is there any evidence of that whatsoever?

    Stop complaining already, and understand that animation cancelling is a mechanic in a lot of games. For example, World of Warcraft and League of Legends both have animation cancelling and it is considered a very important mechanic if you want to play competitively.

    O.o Macros are against the rules so I'm not sure what the point of this thread is. Also I'm not sure if you could magically write a macros letting you override the global cooldown (wouldn't it be kinda hacking if possible at all?) but you definitely can't do that manually.

    I think ani cancelling is cool. An experienced person can promptly weave all his/her attacks together like a master martial artist probably would which makes it more about skill and is cool to watch. (Plot twist - I'm not actually very good at it myself, doesn't mean it needs to go)

    Wow, PVPers are on a streak to try to remove a mechanic which lack would kill off PVE tanking.

    L2P I guess, you must be the typical one that can't do it so you want it to be removed.

    What about you buy a Target Skeleton and practice there?

    It is not a hard to learn how to do and its a useful skill to have under your belt.
    ZOS are okay with it, complain all you want because animation cancelling is here to stay, they will annoy more people by removing the ability than they would be pleasing.

    It is called animation canceling, not cancel casting.

    It also does not permit avoiding the CD for casting a skill. There is a CD for casting any skill.

    I would vote for changes, but not THOSE changes. The ability to interrupt should remain. BUT whatever it is you are interrupting shouldn't have its effect until a full animation completes. Meaning you can still block or roll away mid-strike if you need to, but you can't animation cancel any more and still get the payoff from canceled abilities. You do a full attack and get the effect, or you do an animation cancel and do nothing. Juking will still be a thing, just not spazzing out with animation cancels.


    Why am I against animation canceling? Mainly because visually it looks absolutely dumb, and makes no logical sense. The graphics department spends time making these animations, and the game is based on animations to let the players know what attacks are being done, but both of these are nullified because the animation is simply canceled.


    Second problem with animation canceling are macros. Yeah, they're against TOS, blah blah blah. Guess what? Tons of people still use them. And while some special snowflakes keep insisting that macros offer no advantage, logically if they offered no advantage, nobody would be using them. Secondly, even a simple macro (LA + Skill + tiny delay + Block) remapped to each individual skill makes light-weaving animation cancels fool-proof and very easy to use. And the difference between someone doing this manually, and sometimes messing it up if they press something too fast, and someone using a macro and doing it flawlessly every time, is pretty significant. With removal of animation canceling this will become much less of an issue.


    Personally I'm convinced that the reason ZOS allow it is because they lack the capacity to fix it. Just like they can't seem to fix Cyrodiil lag and being stuck in loading screens for the past 3 years. There's no good "but it's fun!" argument for keeping being stuck in loading screens. So they don't know how to fix it. Most likely it's the same with animation canceling, and rather than keep banning people they just went and made this bug a feature.

    Are you aware that skills with instant cast time are applied at the beginnig of the animation and not at it's end? Even if you do not cancel "Wall of Elements" first tick fires the moment you press the button and not once the character finished striking the ground with his staff. Animations are there just to make the game look nice.

    There is a strict 0.9 second GCD on all skills. Once you've used a skill it's impossible to use another one for 0.9 seconds. No animation canceling technic can bypass this GCD. Light attacks are not considered a skill and are not blocked by GCD or initiate it. Because of that you can fire a skill and follow with a LA immediatly after it. But even if you weave a LA after the first skill you still have to wait for 0.9 seconds before using the next skill.
