OVERVIEW
The Elder Scrolls Online v2.7.2 adds additional balance tweaks and adjustments to all four classes, item sets, and other skill lines. We’ve also fixed a number of issues surrounding housing, furnishings, the editor, and furnishing crafting. You’ll find that we’ve added Developer Comments to some patch notes that should help give you some insight as to why we’ve made the changes we did.

In this patch, we’ve copied all PC EU characters for use in testing. Please note we are still working on a fix for our players on Mac who are running into consistent game crashes.

Thank you to everyone for all your feedback so far! We’d love to hear what you think of this latest patch after you’re able to test out the changes which is approximately 185MB in size.

    Combat & Gameplay
    General
    • Fixed an issue where abilities that remove and grant immunity to snares and roots (Shuffle, Forward Momentum, Rapid Maneuvers, etc.) were only working against snares but not working against roots.
    • Fixed an issue where some weapon abilities (Blade Cloak, Volley, and Wall of Elements) could not proc Weapon Enchantments.

    Dragonknight
    • Ardent Flame
      • Fiery Grip:
        • This ability and its morphs can no longer be dodged.
        • This ability and its morphs now grant Major Expedition for 6 seconds, down from 8 seconds.
    Developer Comments
To improve Fiery Grip’s reliability, we changed it so the projectile (and subsequent pull/push) cannot be dodged. This ensures that enemies using Roll Dodge or Major Evasion do not cause your Fiery Grip cast to be wasted, and makes the Empowering Chains morph (which pushes you to the target) behave consistently with other charge abilities. The Major Expedition buff granted by it was reduced slightly to compensate. Since Fiery Grip is an unusual projectile due to being undodgable and unreflectable, its tooltip has been updated for additional clarity.
    • Draconic Power
      • Dragon Leap:
        • The damage and knockback from this ability and its morphs can no longer be dodged.
        • Fixed an issue where this ability and its morphs were not granting the caster crowd control, snare, and immobilization immunity while they were mid-flight.
      • Ferocious Leap (Dragon Leap morph): Fixed an issue where this morph’s damage was being mitigated off the target’s Physical Resistance instead of their Spell Resistance.
    Developer Comments
As part of a consistency pass to define abilities as dodgable or undodgable, Dragon Leap has been made undodgable. Area of Effect attacks should not be dodgable since they blanket an entire area with harmful effects, and should still damage enemies trying to Roll Dodge through it. You can still use Roll Dodge’s movement speed increase to avoid the Area of Effect altogether as counterplay against this ability. We’ll continue to monitor and update other Area of Effect abilities to ensure they conform to this standard.
    • Earthen Heart
      • Obsidian Shard (Stonefist morph): Fixed an issue where this morph would not fire the heal if the target blocked or absorbed the damage of the initial hit.
      • Stonefist: Increased the speed of the projectile fired by this ability and its morphs by 100%.
    Developer Comments
Since Stonefist is easy to avoid or anticipate with Roll Dodge and Block, we’ve increased the projectile speed to make it easier to stun enemies.

    Nightblade
    • Assassination
      • Death Stroke: Increased the cost of this ability and its morphs to 70 Ultimate from 50 Ultimate.
    Developer Comments
With the Nightblade’s high Ultimate generation, Death Stroke is available too frequently for how powerful it is. Increasing the cost keeps its current burst potential while making Nightblades think more tactically about when to use it.
    • Shadow
      • Path of Darkness: Increased the damage of this ability and the Refreshing Path morph by 25%.
      • Twisting Path (Path of Darkness morph): Increased the damage of this morph by 32%.
    Developer Comments
Increasing the damage of Path of Darkness will improve Magicka Nightblade DPS in PvE (both single-target and AoE), while also making the ability more attractive to use in PvP. This also won’t affect the Nightblade’s already high PvP burst damage.

    Sorcerer
    • Daedric Summoning
      • Haunting Curse (Deadric Curse morph): This morph continues to explode twice per cast, but now explodes once after 3.5 seconds and again after an additional 8.5 seconds.
    Developer Comments
We initially changed Haunting Curse to boost Sorcerer PvE DPS by freeing up global cooldowns. Due to the overwhelming response from the community on this change, we’ve decided to allow Curse to retain its previous PvP burst potential while being more effective in PvE. If you want to cast Haunting Curse every 3.5 seconds for fast attacks on blocking targets, that’s an option. If you’d like to get more out of your cooldowns, then only cast it every 12 seconds to get 2 explosions. The choice is yours!

    Templar
    • Aedric Spear
      • Binding Javelin (Piercing Javelin morph): Reduced the cost of this morph by approximately 20%.
    Developer Comments
As all Weapon skill lines have a 20% Stamina cost reduction passive, we also included this reduction with class Stamina morphs. Binding Javelin and Biting Jabs were missed when this initially happened. Fixing this bug and giving these abilities their correct costs should help Stamina Templar with some of the sustain issues they were having.
    • Biting Jabs (Puncturing Strikes morph):
      • Reduced the cost of this morph by approximately 20%.
      • The damage from this morph can no longer be dodged.
    Developer Comments
Changed as part of our overall Area of Effect consistency pass as described earlier.
    • Blazing Spear (Spear Shards morph):
      • Fixed an issue where this morph was only ticking damage 7 times instead of the intended 8.
      • The ticking damage from this morph now has the same radius as the initial damage.
    • Crescent Sweep (Radial Sweep morph): This morph now deals Physical Damage instead of Magic Damage.
    • Piercing Javelin: Increased the speed of the projectile fired by this ability and its morphs by 40%.
    • Radial Sweep: The damage from this ability and its morphs can no longer be dodged.
    Developer Comments
Changed as part of our overall Area of Effect consistency pass as described earlier.
    • Dawn’s Wrath
      • Backlash:
        • Increased the amount of copied damage by this ability and its morphs to 20% from 18%.
        • The initial damage done by this ability and its morphs now contributes to the copied damage.
        • The copied damage is no longer reduced by Battle Spirit. Note that the final damage done at the end of the duration is still reduced by Battle Spirit.
        • Fixed an issue where damage that was absorbed by a damage shield was not being copied.
    Developer Comments
We want to see Backlash as a burst damage ability that you can use in solo PvE or PvP content. To accomplish this, we not only increased the amount of copied damage, but also doubled it in Cyrodiil. This increase in Cyrodiil was to account for both Battle Spirit and the playstyles of enemies; enemy players are much harder to hit with 5 seconds of unhindered attacks. This change should open up a lot of exciting possibilities for Templars in PvP and we’d love to hear your feedback on it.
    • Radiant Destruction: Fixed an issue where the damage from this ability and its morphs was not actually reduced by 21%.
    • Restoring Light
      • Restoring Aura:
        • Fixed an issue where the Minor Magickasteal debuff from this ability and the Radiant Aura morph was not being treated as a negative effect (and thus could not be removed via purge).
        • Fixed an issue where the Minor Magickasteal debuff from this ability and the Radiant Aura morph were removing enemy player characters from sneak or invisibility.

    Weapon
    • Bow
      • Hawk Eye: Increased the duration of the buff granted by this passive to 5 seconds from 4 seconds.
    Developer Comments
Increasing Hawk Eye’s duration will improve Bow PvE DPS by making it easier to maintain the stack, and also prevents it from falling off while using the Rapid Fire Ultimate. The duration is still short enough to reward players using a pure Bow-focused playstyle, without buffing builds that only use Bow to throw down Volley and Poison Arrow.
    • Destruction Staff
      • Ancient Knowledge: Fixed an issue where the Lightning Staff damage done bonus was not increasing the damage on certain Area of Effect abilities such as Ritual of Retribution or Crystal Blast.
      • Elemental Storm: Reduced the damage done by this ability and the Eye of the Storm morph by 10%. The damage from Elemental Rage remains unchanged.
    Developer Comments
The size of this ability coupled with the mobility of Eye of the Storm has made it extremely potent in PvP without allowing enough counterplay. Due to this, we’ve reduced the base damage but allow you to regain that damage by selecting the Elemental Rage morph. This is similar to previous changes we made to Force Shock and Uppercut – you’ll now be choosing between extra damage or extra utility.

    Armor
    • Light Armor
      • Evocation: Fixed an issue where this passive ability was reducing all ability costs instead of only Magicka ability costs.
    • Heavy Armor
      • Rapid Mending: This passive now increases the amount of resources your Heavy Attacks restore by 12/25% from 25/50%.
    Developer Comments
Part of the counterplay against a Heavy Armor enemy is to stop attacking them for a short period (to drop their Wrath stacks and not trigger their Constitution passive), but Rapid Mending made it so they could still restore a significant amount of resources, even if you were trying to avoid them. Reducing this should ensure Heavy Armor is more about constantly taking damage to maximize its strengths.
    • Wrath:
      • This passive now increases your Weapon and Spell Damage by 5/10 for each stack, down from 10/20, but it now stacks up to 20 times, up from 10 times.
      • Reduced the duration of this passive’s bonus to 5 seconds from 6 seconds.
    Developer Comments
Shortening Wrath’s duration and allowing it take longer to build up its stacks to its full potential should allow more counterplay against Heavy Armor enemies, and take them longer to ramp up their power when engaging in combat. This also helps promote a berserker-type playstyle with Heavy Armor where you get more powerful the longer you stay in combat.

    Master Writs
    • Adjusted Master Writs so that purple items are more likely to be requested than gold items.
    • Provisioning Master Writs now require either a Food or a Drink, instead of both a Food and a Drink.
    • Master Writs that are ready for turn in no longer list their requirements in your quest tracker.
    • Increased the cost of Diminished Aetherial Dust to 50 Writ Vouchers from 25.
    • Replaced the “Poisonmaker's Satchel” pattern with a much larger and more visually impressive “Poisonmaker's Cabinet” blueprint in Rolis Hlaalu's inventory as the Satchel was already available as an Achievement Furnishing.

    • Fixed an issue where some eyelashes displayed incorrect textures when worn with a number of helmets.

    Housing
    • Fixed an issue where some homes were classified as Notable homes in the Crown Store, but were actually Classic homes.
    • Fixed the image that appears in the Crown Store for the Cyrodilic Jungle House specifically in Gamepad Mode.

    Exploration & Itemization
    General
    • The Shalk found in Senie will now drop loot.

    Achievements
    • Fixed an issue where the names of two manors for the Count or Countess achievement were swapped.
    • Collectibles of a given furniture category now count toward the Decorator achievement for that category.

    Item Sets
    • Armor of the Trainee: Reduced the Max Magicka, Stamina, and Health granted by this item set to 1250 from 2500.
    Developer Comments
Armor of the Trainee was meant as an introductory set that required no advanced strategy to utilize. The attributes it was providing were too high as you could get the same amount of Stamina that Draugr Hulk’s 5-piece provided, as well as significant Magicka and Health bonuses. This set will now provide less Stamina than the Draugr Hulk 5-piece, but more overall stats.
    • Black Rose: This item set now increases the Magicka or Stamina restored by the Constitution passive by 35%, down from 40%.
    Developer Comments
Black Rose was too powerful with how much more resources it gave to the Constitution passive. Reducing this bonus slightly keeps the set viable, and balances it better against other Heavy Armor options.
    • Chokethorn: The strangler summoned by this item set now despawns when it dies.
    Developer Comments
This should make all summoned monsters consistent in how they despawn when they expire. We want summoned monsters to be removed immediately for better visual fidelity and game performance.
    • Draugr Heritage: Fixed an issue where this item set’s proc could trigger before you fell below 35% Health.
    • Dreamer’s Mantle: Fixed an issue where this item set’s proc could trigger before you fell below 35% Health.
    • Maw of the Infernal: The Daedroth summoned by this item set now despawns when it dies.
    Developer Comments
This should make all summoned monsters consistent in how they despawn when they expire. We want summoned monsters to be removed immediately for better visual fidelity and game performance.
    • Morag Tong: Fixed an issue where this item set was proccing on some non-damage abilities.
    • Scourge Harvester: This item set’s proc now provides Major Vitality instead of a generic non-buff category healing received bonus.
    Developer Comments
Being able to stack the Scourge Harvester proc with other healing received bonuses was too powerful. With all those bonuses, enemies could quickly heal back to full health before you had time to back away and snap the tether. This can no longer stack with Major Vitality given by Potions.
    • Tremorscale: Reduced the damage done by this item set’s proc by approximately 10%.
    Developer Comments
This set was meant to be a more utility-focused set for tanks with its powerful snare, but it did too much damage in builds (particularly PvP ones) that would spam Taunt abilities to kill targets.

    • Fixed several cases where the main tradeskill required to learn a recipe did not match the station where the recipe was crafted.
    • Woodworking recipes and furnishings can now be found on Carpenters instead of Woodworkers, matching the distribution for other professions.

    Homes
    • Visions of the Prophet will no longer show up uninvited to your home when he wants to reach you during the Main Quest.

    • Closed a gap in the boundary of Mistveil Manor.
    • Fixed an issue that allowed your opponent to knock you through the entrance door of some homes during a duel.
    • Fixed an issue in the German game client where the name for the Flaming Nix Deluxe Garet (Luxusmansarde Des Flammenden) was cut off early specifically in Gamepad Mode.

    Home Previewing
    • Fixed an issue that prevented you from previewing a home when many other players were already previewing the same home.

    • The count of items within a specific category in the Housing Editor is now the total number of items you possess in that category, instead of the number of different items you possess in that category.
      • For example, if you have 99 Target Skeletons, you now see “Workshop (99)” instead of “Workshop (1)”.
    • Added tooltips to furniture lists in the Housing Editor.
    • Left clicking a house in the Crown Store will now start the preview process.
    • Fixed a UI error that occurred when navigating to your collections from a Housing or DLC-related notification.
    • Permission screens in a house will now display a message when you have no one added to them.

Makes sense to me. Stambuilds don't need Dawnbreaker and Crescent Sweep.

I actually official give up. Been writing detailed information based on me and other experienced players experience. Been sitting for hours basically. And nothing.. Not even hoping for another patch note.

But they announced the new stamina morphs earlier, why would they put them in official notes and not release them with these patch notes? I am so confused.

These aren't all of the testing patches to come before homestead release right?
I'm still holding on if @ZOS_RichLambert and @Wrobel decide to give us DKs our AoE Flames of Oblivion back with some new features of course. I would also like some sustain issues to be solved with the DK class in general as there's no more dynamic ulti regen so we're not recovering our resources like we used to. Other classes have abilities that now give minor mag steal, while others get a better convert resource into another resource(s) ability, etc.

Addition: My fellow DKs remember @ZOS_GinaBruno said -

To be clear, we won't be able to make any additional changes in time for next week's patch. You can certainly provide your thoughts and feedback, but please understand that further tweaks wouldn't appear until the following patch or, possibly, when the update goes live. Also, please be sure and test the changes, too. :) A lot of times, these things feel a lot different when actually in-game against NPCs or other players versus just reading them on paper (well, on a screen).

Thanks so much for the heavy armor nerf and also for the nerf of lingering health potions :)

Yeah, I'm sure you're worried about all the OP stamplars in cyrodiil using OP crescent sweep on you. Oh wait, there aren't any stamplars in cyrodiil.

So no physical damage on crescent sweep now? Or was that just missed in the patch notes? @ZOS_GinaBruno

Also even though we saw most of them on the individual class feedback threads already, the developer comments are really nice. Helpful to know where you guys are coming from with some of the changes.
