By the way, guys: I KNOW you are mostly awesome and won't do this, but still I will ask. Please, PLEASE, do not flame Gina for the information.

Well, at least now we know.
Yet somehow I don't feel any better

I'll toss an internet hug here for good measure, how about that?
I won't be buying them. I prefer the old fashioned approach to purchasing stuff, i.e. knowing what it is before I hand over my hard earned money. Like the massive cake I bought today to cheer myself up...

The carefully parsed this statement and they happily discovered that Crown Crates do not violate it. They are not "locked"! Weee!
Of course, if they had accidentally said "no RNG boxes", that would not have stopped them. Nothing would have stopped these. No one at ZeniMax (any ZeniMax) or Bethesda would have any interest in stopping them.

let me wish a cheerful 'goodbye and good luck' to all those who said they will quit when the crates are introduced.

And the argument of 'don't buy it if you don't like it' is a bit redundant, I'm sure people against the crates will avoid them, as they did in SWTOR. But that doesn't change the fact that lots of people WILL buy them and the crates can easily become the main focus for the bean-counters behind the scenes and we all know they control the direction games go nowadays.
Hmmm, not liking this at all. When SWTOR started adding these gamble packs the game went downhill fast, new raid/group content pretty much stopped and the only thing to 'look forward to' for a long period of time was the release of a new monthly crate with new cosmetics in. And of course the best stuff was stupid hard to obtain without spending way more than anyone ever should on a game. As you've probably guessed I (and most of my old guild mates) don't play SWTOR any more because there is nothing new for us to do together any more.
I really hope ESO doesn't go this way, but past experiences show me that it inevitably will. Before we know it the crates could well be the focus of any new 'content' and it's a damn shame because gamble crates by design are 90% junk and a real life money sink and add no value to game play or longevity of a game.

Oh. I didn't even know that till now tbh. Now that does have me worried.... very worriedSantieClaws wrote: »

That alone causes this one some concern.

Khajiit will be here. Unless they start charging this one to get into The Rosy Lion or turn it into some sort of gastropub yes.

WOW I clicked on a "Z" marked topic and there was an actual reply from the staff!!!??
What is happening?
As long as you allow us to trade in the useless stuff, potions, lessons etc I don't mind them. (Nobody should ever use them since they are worse than created ones)
If you don't like the crates, don't buy them, can't be more simple than that.
