Looking forward to the crates arriving. Already got some crowns saved up for all the P2W gear im gonna get. Im gonna be so boss with all my new equipment and mounts.
And if that wasn’t enough, with all the people about the quit the game, im hoping there’ll be a lot of ‘have my stuff’ threads around……

The carefully parsed this statement and they happily discovered that Crown Crates do not violate it. They are not "locked"! Weee!
Of course, if they had accidentally said "no RNG boxes", that would not have stopped them. Nothing would have stopped these. No one at ZeniMax (any ZeniMax) or Bethesda would have any interest in stopping them.
That was the answer to someone posting "Hopefully the cash shop model doesn't introduce Locked RNG boxes where you have to pay money to buy the key..." on reddit. And if people would stop posting that one-year-old quote out of context it would probably stop appearing here...

They encourage gambling. The chances of getting what you wish for without a significant amount of money exchanging paws is very slim. This was shown by all the testing on the PTS.
They take things that would be in the store and make you gamble to purchase them. They are an unfair transaction because you do not know what you buy before you buy it. If items were in the store directly then many of us would have no issue with a purchase - although this one she does object to motifs and dyes being in the store as these have previously only been in the game. Taking content available previously in one form and moving it to the more expensive one is a drip, drip process. First one thing, then another and soon all we love about Tamriel has a significant price tag on it.
They very largely contain consumables that not many people want anyway.
The crown gem exchange system is far too low. You will still need to buy many many crates and exchange many duplicates before getting the item you wish for.
They will probably dictate the future content of the store and the game itself - if they prove popular then all of the best items will be crate exclusive. This is the biggest concern for this one. When the Tamriel becomes nothing but a casino and great shiny shopping mall then many of us will cease to enjoy travelling there.
They took Pacrooti and made him into a crazed, crate junkie monster.
If you feel the same way as this one does then feel free to use the relevant line from the signature of this one in your own.

Please post again with how many crates it takes you to get one of the apex rewards. You might be one of the chosen the rngesus will smile upon. Seriously. I'm not going to touch them after seeing them on the pts.
I'm curious as to how many crowns it will cost to get an apex reward when they go live, as opposed to outright being able to buy the mount. Iirc the most expensive mount to date was 5,000 crowns. Some of the people testing the crates on the pts opened the full number of crates you can buy for 5500 crowns every day for all 8 days. A few people got more than one exclusive mount, a few got one. Some got none. A few of the ones that got none finally racked up enough gems to buy the mount they wanted. So that mount cost about 33,000 crowns.
EDIT: Even if I leave, I wouldn't give you my stuff. You have the gamble crates to pick up all kinds of wonderful useful things since you're so enthusiastic about them. Just keep shoveling the crowns and you have all you need.

I knew I’d catch someone eventually but not within the first couple of posts
ps if you do leave, id put your stuff to good use on the guild traders..(then I can spend the gold on crown crates)
By the way, guys: I KNOW you are mostly awesome and won't do this, but still I will ask. Please, PLEASE, do not flame Gina for the information.
Please, do not kill the messenger. At least they were not simply put in the game with no warning.
I am sure most of the people who works for ZOS also have previous experience with MMOs and are not happy with the addition of those either (I want to believe!), but of course they can't voice their displeasure like we can.

I'll be trying them out. See what they came up with. And if I don't like them, I won't buy them. like a normal, non-whiney person.

Nah. Lately I've been running with a low level newish character. People would have no interest in buying the stuff I have. I'm deconning most of it. My guilds will get my mats and stuff.
And, O Troll, please explain how you'll buy "crown" crates with gold. I'm curious about that too.

Forum discussions tend to be very over-stated so far as player opinions are concerned, given how small a proportion of the playerbase actually contributes to those discussions.
So far as the crates are concerned, my hunch is that one percent of players will hate them, one percent will love them, and the other ninety-eight percent either won't know about them or else won't be bothered one way or the other by them.
Personally, I'm not against them but I have no interest in buying them nor any interest in what they are likely to contain. I'll be interested, however, to see whether ZOS have addressed any of the concerns about them in the final Live version, and it would have been good if they had dropped them in response to the genuine opposition to them although that was always unlikely and I do think the grounds for opposition were over-stated.

I would much rather see the December crown store showcase than an article about crown crates tomorrow. If there are not nice things available to buy for direct purchase anymore because they all go into the crown crates I'm going to be spending a lot less in this game.

ah that's a shame. i'll just have to use my own millions of gold to buy stuff then.
seriously, im not a troll. (check my posts) but do you have any confirmed details n how they will work (from ZOS) ? Or is everyone just guessing and crying Armageddon.
From what ive just read, theya re posting details tomorrow so I’ll hold off on stocking up on tins of beans for a day or two
