You think class/item balance is bad now? Lack of content? Wait till the devs are suddenly tasked with putting more *** into crates and trying to juggle all of that. CMFan1966✭✭✭✭✭I've pretty much stayed out of the crown crate debate since the discussion was just really beginning when I started to play the game. I wanted to gather information before offering my thoughts on the matter. On the one hand, the crates are kind of a fun game of chance. If they'd put stuff that is no longer available in the crown store in them, that would be awesome! I've seen people running around with Ice Wraith pets and I'd love to have one or something like that. Maybe a crown crate would give me an opportunity to get something I missed out on by starting to play the game a couple of years after launch.
On the other hand, I watched some of the YouTube videos. How many Crown Lethal Potions or other stuff like that does one person really need?
My final thought is that I hope they don't use the crown crates as an excuse to stop putting new material or new DLC in the game. Then I think I'd want to shove a crown crate where the sun don't shine. Will I buy them? Probably a few just because it's something new to me. Will I continue to buy them over time? I doubt it unless they switch content around as time goes by.1 -

This only becomes an issue if they add in gear/weapons/etc. that are vastly more powerful than what can be obtained in-game. IMO, xp scrolls, cosmetics, redistribution scrolls, and whatnot are all fine.
While it's fine that you're not personally bothered by the exclusive cosmetics, it is very clearly already an issue for those of us who value fair access to the cosmetics being produced.
I suppose that's true. I didn't think of the people who'd want to get access to exclusive cosmetics/motifs that could get locked behind crates. My bad.2 -

Yeah I'm not touching ESO until I know everything I need to about the crates. Drop rates, what they are putting in them, how to "refund" items for gems, how many gems are given - if everything is reasonable then I'll return and just not buy them. If, however, they are as bad as they apparently were on the PTS then I won't be back. Not for a while anyway
Good luck where ever you end up going Cazzy . I doubt seriously they will change their minds or make any major adjustment to the crown gem ratios per refund because profits are bottom line here . You are making a wise decision given your background and I admire your honesty and drive to bettering yourself . Very inspirational .

It is a cash grab especially since they won't publish the drop rates or say how they are planning to make them "more appealing". The worst part is that all new cosmetics may end up being RNG lockbox only and may lead to P2W items included like many MMOs went when they added that stuff.PS4 NA

They encourage gambling. The chances of getting what you wish for without a significant amount of money exchanging paws is very slim. This was shown by all the testing on the PTS.
They take things that would be in the store and make you gamble to purchase them. They are an unfair transaction because you do not know what you buy before you buy it. If items were in the store directly then many of us would have no issue with a purchase - although this one she does object to motifs and dyes being in the store as these have previously only been in the game. Taking content available previously in one form and moving it to the more expensive one is a drip, drip process. First one thing, then another and soon all we love about Tamriel has a significant price tag on it.
They very largely contain consumables that not many people want anyway.
The crown gem exchange system is far too low. You will still need to buy many many crates and exchange many duplicates before getting the item you wish for.
They will probably dictate the future content of the store and the game itself - if they prove popular then all of the best items will be crate exclusive. This is the biggest concern for this one. When the Tamriel becomes nothing but a casino and great shiny shopping mall then many of us will cease to enjoy travelling there.
They took Pacrooti and made him into a crazed, crate junkie monster.
