Last time I've checked psijic recipe pieces were sold for next to nothing in guild stores. I guess this will slightly change now for a while. Patience is a virtue here - remember the same fragments selling for 2-300k each on the first day being introduced just to drop to 20-30k a week later.

    Too late.

Today on XB EU. There were only 3 completes for sale...I bought 2 of them one for 175k. .one for 250k. ..the other with 30 days left was 1m.

    Fragments have crept up slightly.

Well done zos on giving the console market a heads up and pc got jack.

Now on console zos no one has any chance in hell in obtaining this new recipe. The fragments were always stupidly rare. I've had 2 since day one and had to buy the others as I gave up. Now....well.

PC players complaining console players have an unfair advantage. Laughable looool

@dbrand001 Dust should drop from most crafting nodes (looks like everything EXCEPT Enchanting nodes for some reason) and the Cipher should drop from monsters. Supposedly, anyway; I've yet to find either (admittedly haven't been grinding for them).

So first they made the original ambrosia so time consuming to get the perfect roe for that it completely negated its purpose as a "time saver" insuring that most people would break down and buy the store version that was better anyway. And now they are doing it again, screwing over the crafters even more to make $$ in the cash shop. Nice. :/ At the very Least they ought to let the recipe you already know count towards this instead of making you grind it AGAIN. What a dirty trick to play on your customers ZOS.

I have been, and have not yet received anything from any overworld monster or harvest node. I have no idea on what scale I am at right now, but I will estimate a 0.1 % drop rate, so I expect to do 1000 harvest nodes before finding one.

I'm wondering what the hell the point of this is?

It's not like the leveling was very hard as is.
I'm waiting for the day you can get level 50 in 2 hours and max cp in less than a week. Maybe then it will be causal enough for people.

The point is to offer the in-game version of the Crown Crate exclusive. Why they feel the need to add such a powerful item to the Crown Crates is likely so that they still have the mundane one outside of the Crown Crates.

As for leveling ease, if they go F2P or offer Level 50 boost, you can expect the leveling to get more grindy, probably by slashing XP earned or significantly increasing the XP requirements to level.

Well... I hate grinding and I don't mind that part. Takes less than an hour and you can sell all the stuff that you made while learning.

Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.

Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Only thing is the pieces still drop from provisioning writs. I got another part 4 yesterday. they haven't taken the recipe out of the game.

People who don't want to do the writ grind to get the pieces and have the gold will buy them. Other people will be patient and get them from writs. I'm not going to really complain about the prices until I find they took the opportunity to get the recipe on my own out of the game.

These are only being added so they can buff the crown crates. Eso is going to have crown crates become their primary source of profit.

Dlc like orsinium takes massive amounts of effort. We are talking artist, programmers, actors, and story writers. A lot of time and money to produce.

Crown crates are just money drains that people mindlessly pay into. They will generate much more profit for far less effort. Dlc will be reduced to short content additions, likely small chapters of content. Just enough to keep people logging on to spend money.

This addition is just a consolation to crafters to say an equivalent item exists as promised. That is all. This game will eventually become free to play, and micro transaction focused. They have hired someone who specializes in this.

Never said it would drop instantly. It never did before, they have no reason to change it now. I've been here since early access. I managed to gather 6 of the 7 pieces. I'm still looking for part 3. I've gotten multiples of all the other parts, but not one 3 yet. I did not start doing provisioning until they revamped the system the first time, so I can't count it as hunting for the recipe "from the beginning".

I'm also hoping there will be a little more information about this. It sounds like you have to already know the recipe in addition to having a copy in your inventory to convert it. If that's true, I'll be working on this for a while longer. I'll have all seven parts to find all over again.

LOL. People buying up Psijic recipes and fragments at these inflated prices are probably making a huge mistake.

ZOS is actually pretty specific in their word choice when it comes to things like this. When they say something is "rare", it really is rare. Well, the dust is officially "very" rare, and the cipher is officially "extremely" rare.

So far, nobody in any of my guilds has seen a cipher or know of anyone who's seen one. When I briefly talked with some of the GMs of a number of large trade guilds on NA/PC, nobody in their guilds have seen it either. I wouldn't be surprised if these ciphers make Imperial motifs look plentiful and if most players would never actually see one even after a year or two.

Do people remember what happened to Bervez Juice and Frost Mirriam prices when Psijic was first introduced in-game last year? The prices for these ingredients shot up, which was completely nonsensical because the limiting reagent--the bottleneck--was Roe. It was a speculative bubble--and a very dumb one that made no sense from the get-go--and a bubble that burst once people realized that Ambrosia would not actually have an appreciable effect on the demand for purple provisioning mats.

The same is happening here. The bottleneck for creating the Aetherial recipe is the cipher, not the Psijic recipe, and the skyrocketing prices are simply hilarious. Though it is a good opportunity to make gold off of the fools who do buy them...

My two fully maxed provisioners, completing writs since they started, have received about 8 fragments, mostly duplicates of No 2 and 5. In all that time I still wouldn't have a complete recipe, let alone two.

The completionist in me wants to be able to make this new potion. The fragments will come when they do - or not, as is my experience - but I'm not sure I can be bothered with the grind . First for roe and then for something that might just, once in a while, appear.

I might have to concede defeat to three levels of RNG.

And I'm sure many will, after all this is meant to be an almost impossible hurdle set so very high purely to convince people it's better to buy XP scrolls in the crown store. "It's a convenience, it's in the game"... well, no, it isn't really. If for no other reason that the homemade potions don't last as long.

P.S. Would it really kill them to let us know what they are doing beforehand? I sold a fragment this weekend. OK, I got 3K gold for something that was of no value to me, but now I find that it is of value.

The same goes for the apothecary bags. I have no idea why ZoS want to crash the market in herbs but they just have. Won't be long before people are asking "Can I buy Vigor please? I'll pay for it in Dragonthorn, thank you."

Might aswell quit now then. It's going to happen sooner or later whether you like it or not. Such is simply the nature of MMO's.

I don't equate a relatively cheap store scroll to an insanely rare recipe. A crown xp scroll is 300 crowns for one or 1000 for five. How long does it take an average person to earn roughly $3 to $10? Certainly less time than it takes to go through the process of getting the ambrosia recipe, the cipher and a dust. Ok, the cipher exists in the game, but it's nowhere equal or better than the store version.

I've been accused in this and many other forums where MMOs are discussed of being an ESO fanboy. I've been playing the game on and off (mostly on) since PC beta and really enjoy my time in it.

But the whole crown crate thing and all the present and future contortions to make it seem more acceptable do nothing but cheapen the game down to the level of the worst of the worse cash grabbing Korean grinders.

It annoys me to no end because I care. If I were a 2 months and out ESO tourist I probably wouldn't care.

That is probably wise. I spent Saturday afternoon and evening, plus too many hours on Sunday, seeing how easy it was to get The Dust. I covered all 5 starting zones and picked, mined, and collected until my picker was tired, and I still don't know. I killed more monsters over the weekend than I usually kill in a month, but not enough to find a Cipher. I even killed mudcrabs, just to keep the rhythm going, although there is no indication it would drop from those.

My guess is that the developers asked "Business Intelligence" for the maximum number of monsters killed and nodes harvested in a single day, multiplied that number by the number of days they want to pass before people really start finding them, and set the drop rate accordingly. Then Bethesda Marketing probably came along and told them to halve the drop rate.

If I had to guess, I would put the Dust in the 1 in 1000 order of magnitude, and the Cipher in the 1 in 10,000 order of magnitude.
