Except if you're tank/healer.
I love reading the crap that all these so-called hardcore gamers write. "If you want the reward, do the content". You all agree that "it's a grind", that "you need to learn the recipe", and that "it's frustrating".
Here's the news flash: not everyone has the time or energy to grind, to learn the recipe and get frustrated for hours. We don't all find that entertaining. It's less about skill, more about having better things to do. It's cool with me if you've nothing more entertaining in your life - good for you. But as a paying customer I want it my way. Not yours.
But if you're so sure that all of us who don't want to bother with grind content like vMA, are so poorly skilled, you shouldn't be worried if we have access to the weapon drops. No skin off your tough little noses, right?
Maybe we can get Zeni to give all of you kids a sticker with "I beat vMA cos I learned the recipe" printed on it. Make it your exclusive club sticker. I'll be ok if I don't get one of those.

And you need maelstrom weapons as a tank or healer?
Meh I hate vMA too. Did it twice. Got trash. Realised it was *** cos I didn't play eso to play solo. So I dealt with it by;
1. Made a leet meta tank with masters sword. Every1 needs tanks and tanks don't need MA wepz. In fact bis is masters sword.
2. Made magicka toons. Most people just slot Ma staves on back bar and it dosent add all that much of dps anyway. Still pull 35k no overload on sorc.
So yeah.. You can still be competitive without vMA wepz. I don't see why ZOS has an insane fetish for arena type stuff that lasts for 2 hrs. I mean I'm okay with vDSA cos at least ur on ts with friends talking and stuff for that 1-1.5 hrs but vMA is just painful. I don't like it. Won't do it. Don't really care if I ever get vMA wepz in sharpened cos I can't be f'ed to grind some 1.5 hr arena that is solo. Why they ever made BIS wepz drop in a SOLO arena in an MMO is well beyond me.
Sorry to burst your bubble but master sword isn't BiS for any tank build except for some casual niche build or so. In PvE that is.

I'm forced to play solo for days, its so difficult not to mention horrible drops, its a complete pure waste of time.
Now since they are adding blue versions for every other set in the game in normal mode they should to the same with malestrom arena, most people hate it and will never do it on veteran and no other way to get these BiS weapons.
Now sets lile VO and IA which are BiS drop in normal Trails not to mention all other dungeon sets, the same shuold be done with malestrom weapons and leave veteran for leaderboards and competition. Ofc the drop rates should be decreased on normal, but it should be an available option.
Incorrect: You also don't get DSA weapons or Monster masks in Normal.

nDSA doesn't drop leveled-down weapons from the ending chest anymore? (I haven't run it in a couple months). That stinks. I liked playing with the traits to see how things worked with my build before setting out for the grind. It's easier to find a group that can finish normal, so I could get a "preview" of how things worked. Did that with the Wrothgar sets, too, to make sure I wanted to keep grinding for the CP160 versions.
Oh well. It would be nice to have that option from nMA, but I can understand why it's not set up that way. I haven't run veteran at all yet, but I did set foot in normal for the first time yesterday. (I prefer playing with groups, so I have been putting it off). I did not change my setup at all, and my healer steamrolled her way to the beginning of the 5th round on the ice island arena before the game crashed spectacularly and I decided to go to bed instead of loading it up again. I will finish it tonight. So yes, normal seems much much easier than the vMA.

Ever since the rescaling of DSA, the difficulty gap between nDSA and vDSA is much wider than what it used to be and is similar to the size of the gulf that separates nMA and vMA. nDSA has become easier (it can be soloed, and if you have a partner, it's a great place to level up low-level characters since it's a private instance), and vDSA has become much harder. As a result, having weapons drop from nDSA no longer makes any sense.
