It may strain the servers. But only because ZOS doesn't know how to make it not Strain the servers. I will reference GW 2 again which has Physics on many items and clothing and GW 2 does not have much lag, if any in large scale PvP.

If an MMO that came out 2 Years Prior to ESO can do it, I see no excuse for ESO not being able to do it.

Well I now know of one person who claims they actually got a refund on the costume and another who has put in a ticket asking for a refund. I kinda feel like everyone who is unhappy with it should at least ask for a refund and then post what happens here. You know...if that's allowed. >.>

Tried to buy something hing nice but the preview doesn't let me move the camera or my char.

Had I know the cape was legs I'd never considered it.

You actually got a refund? Nice one!

I had two tickets....first was a can u have the devs fix this.....they said they'll share it.

Next ticket was. O K let's do a refund as its not acknowledged to be fixed soon.
    Got canned reply
Then replied asking for a refund and why
    Got refund hours later.

I hope that's everyone's experience at the least.

Yeah, if you actually feel burned by this, absolutely ask CS. The worst they can do is say, "no."

I bought it without checking what it looked like. I equipped it and am quite disappointed in it. I would refund it if I could.

I realize this response may be a bit late, but for anyone interested in a refund, know that others have managed to obtain one (with some persistence it seems):

Rich was posting in a thread about personal experiences with the game, and @N0TPLAYER2 was trying to derail the thread, because of his (or her) personal agenda.

Honestly, the fact that when mods lock other threads regarding this that they link those threads to this one is acknowledgement in my book.

No its not. Its damage control. You herd all complainers into one thread and its just a thread instead of a massive oucry overwhelming the forums. Then it eventually dies down and falls off the front page and the issue is gone.

And how would they know to herd them if they did not have a thread they know about to herd them into? Trust me, it's acknowledged.

Moderators arent devs. Mods saw the issue and contained it to be, most likely, ignored by the devs. Yeah, sure, maybe if barely anyone bought the costume theyll do something about the next ones that get made. That does not mean higher quality tho - most likely theyll just avoid the coat/cloak style in the future altogether.

They do work for the devs though, which means they are able to contact them. Also mods may very well report their actions to their "higher ups". Besides, this thread is 12 pages long and growing, how could the lurking devs NOT notice and acknowledge it lol

There is a huge difference between being aware of something and acknowledging it. Knowing this thread exists, or that these complaints exist, is being aware of the issue. Making a public statement that admits there are problems with the costume, and that these complaints are valid, that would be acknowledging the issue.

The silence from ZOS indicates that they are either currently unaware of the issue (doubtful), or that they are ignoring it. To date, there has been absolutely no acknowledgment.

It would strain the servers is what they actually said, and you can call them out on that all you want but personally I'd rather them not take a chance and make the game TRULY unplayable.

I'd like to see a technical explanation as to how this would strain the servers, because frankly I don't buy it. If the assets are kept client-side, and the rendering is done client side, then there should be practically no impact to the servers. Unless for some reason ZOS is trying to add collision detection to the loose bits of cloth, which would be ridiculous.

I agree with you 100% but, ZOS knows full well that eventually this thread will get buried like so many others in the past voicing players concerns and discontent. All they have to do is sit back and wait. They could care less about the concerns of players there actions show that time and time again. However, they also know that the majority of players will stick around anyways.

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Sorry to nitpick, but you've used this same phrase at least four or five times already in this thread alone.

If their infrastructure is really that *** that they can't support basic physics then give the cloak an animation, its not that difficult.

GW2 does not have full on cloth physics.

Also, EQ2 has full cloth simulation in the engine on a number of items (most of them are older robes, funny enough) and they don't cause server side lag.

Why ZOS claims it would cause server side lag is beyond me, borderlining on asinine. It could potentially cause framerate issues, but that's something toggling would remedy.

The one that honestly kills me was the WoD MMO that got canceled a couple years ago. Partially because I was a huge oWoD fan back in the late 90s, and early 2000s, but also because of the cloth physics that got demoed after the game's cancellation was announced.

Sigh. I am still scarred by this. Nor will I ever forgive CCP or give them another dime....and I liked EVE. But back somewhat on topic... this game is so beautiful and with some great realism in some areas. Character skin is pretty amazing. But then those same amazing characters don't have eyelashes...though they are now willing to sell us eyelashes... for the girls at least. And the really bad hair. And the lack of realistic (even realistic-ish) clothing just baffles me. I kind of WANT to believe that it just couldn't have been done for some really overwhelming technical reason... but I have a hard time believing it.

Well, CCP had to cancel it at that time - cost of production surpassed revenue and it was basically an emergency bail out of this project in order to get CCP back to normal. It was economically a necessary move.

Yeah, it is shameful, that they can get a 500 crown outfit right, but not one which costs 5-times as much. Just look at those casual wear outfits which came out lately - they look nice on both, males and females (well not the dress, but the male outfit). The male one is even better looking on female characters (given that they need wider shoulders to create this look).
