Are you kidding me man? Magicka Sorcs have the best burst in the game. Sure they have no spammable DPS (btw neither do stamsorcs other than weapon abilities, and if you want one as a mag sorc, use destro) but they do NOT need a spammable DPS.

Nope, he's pretty much correct...Magicka Sorcs have some the absolute best burst in the game rivaling Nightblades.

and Sorcs can put out some of the best PvE DPS in the game....

and Use a destro isn't pidgeonholding you, Its one of the TWO magicka based weapons...The only other weapon setup you can run is DW, and you want to do that because how powerful it is..and its only balanced cause it doesn't give you access to a spammable instant cast nuke.

Oh yes they do for PvE. And sorcs got quite a bad burst next patch.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno
Dear God please no, This is good for my PvP setups since I can allocate some left over CP in my warrior tree so I can dodge roll for days but my PvE tank setup would lose so much. I love the increase shield armor passive this tree provides so what am I going to put it in? Spell resistance? Like seriously please change this back to block reduction.

Good for PvP but you lose so much in PvE: this really begins to sound like a common theme. Please keep us PvEers in mind, ZOS!

Why all the complaints about a nerf to blocking? All I saw was in increase in block cost reduction from 30% to 36% and 1% more on your gear. That makes a potential total of 13% more reduction. Am I missing something, because that sounds like a buff.

They took our 20% from bracing and now block cost reduction is now in the Green CP tree not the Red which is WTH

So tanks can have reduced blocking cost and reduced damage at the same time? Honestly that sounds a great deal to me.

As for the Shield Expert passive... that needs rethinking with this switch I agree.

You can have reduced blocking cost and reduced damage, but you can forget about reduced ability cost and increased regeneration (if you decide to put your Thief points in reduced blocking cost). Which not only makes tanking all the more difficult, but also means that it becomes more difficult to switch from a tanking build to a DPS/solo build.

Ravage Stamina and Ravage Magicka poisons are only increasing costs by 30%, instead of the intended 60% cost increase.

Is this right, or should it be the other way around? Even 30% is questionably high.

In several cases, applying two different poisons to your target will result in the first poison being overwritten by the second poison. This is not intended, and all different poison types will be able to coexist on the same target in a future patch.

Poison builds are going to have a fun time with this. ^ Poison is going to be the most op thing in the game. And that says a lot.

What the actual ***? And if you have to make this completely unnecessary change, at least move shield expert with it. This change really falls under the "If it ain't broken, lets break it!" mentality.

OR they intend to make tanks choose to focus more on being tanks?

Have you ever tried tanking? Have you seen the magicka cost of chains and range taunting? Have you seen the stamina cost of low-slashing and piercing? Tanking in PvE is a resource game, and we we have relatively small resources pools to begin with since we need health and we need both magicka and stamina pools. Reallocating green points into block hurts our utility costs. Those green points are useful for everyone, not just for DPS.

Why range taunt gap close and use the cheap Melee taught, you don't need to use that much magic you choose to lean on magic to recover stamina. You can go max health and stamina recovery and be just fine.

Low-slash? You get 25% of damage dealt as splash damage to two enemies near your target with Deep Slash weak on a tank or ultimate over 9 seconds with Heroic Slash why would you be using this more then once every 9 seconds for maximum ultimate generation.

@Feynn Power Surge gives flat value of 1980 health, it doesn't scale off anything as far as I tested. Procs every second as long as you crit.
Skye Cloude - Sorc DPS, Master Crafter. Main, the bestest
Lae Lenne - Templar Healer Trial grade.
Dromede - Stamina Nightblade, she's a newb and doesn't know what she's doing
V'oghatta - Stamplar pretending to be a tank
Ulville Thonvella - aspiring Fire Mage, be careful around her fire sticks!
Dromedaris - lost and not found. Named after a shoe, what else can you expect from her? A proper tank in her wildest dreams
Swims-Naked - too pretty to grind, too silly to quest.
Sun Flair - Dunmer Templar that can't spell for life. To bad she's too broke to afford a name change... Well, at least she's pretty...

@Dromede , thank you for the answer. From a PvE point of view this sounds like a nerf to our Surge heals, although of course I haven't tried it yet. Is this supposed to be a way to make Surge heals work somehow in PvP where everyone will use shields? (and again, the PvP logic comes first and foremost!) Or is it a way to force Sorcerers to use pets and Dark Exchange by nerfing our only viable healing option? (because of course if people are using a particular skill instead of others, the best way to go is not to improve the skills which are not being used, but rather to nerf the few good ones people are in fact using)

For some reason I haven't been able to complete veteran Maelstrom Arena yet (I know, I know, I need to "git gud"), and I'm really feeling like I'd better complete it before the patch goes live, or I can just kiss goodbye to it. Or, you know... I guess I can always re-roll.

    TEMPLATE UPDATES
We’ve continued to make some improvements to the available character templates:
    • Character templates now have at least one wayshrine unlocked in every non-DLC zone.
    • Added a new item, The Crafter's Rune Crate, to the contents of The Ultimate Crafting Crate. This new crate contains 200 of every type of rune, and there are 10 of these crates in each Ultimate Crafting Crate.
      ...
      Restoring Light

Extended Ritual (Cleansing Ritual morph): This morph now also increases the amount of negative effects cleansed from the casting Templar to 5 from 2.
      ...
      One Hand and Shield

Fortress: Increased the block cost reduction from this passive ability to 18/36% at Ranks I/II from 15/30%.

      ...

Potency runes can once again be obtained from runestones!

Each harvestable runestone is guaranteed to contain an Essence and an Aspect rune, and one third of the runestones you find will also contain a Potency rune.

    <3Thank you very much! <3

    Nameplates & Health Bars

    ...

    [/list]

    Off-button? Please?

Let us please turn the ugly things off completely.

Please @ZOS_GinaBruno, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @... anyone explain to me why the current "off" setting do not dislay "nameplates"? What are these "@name charnames" - thingies I see called, if not "NAMEPLATES" ?

    Enchanting
    • Half the time, when you find a Potency rune it will be scaled to your combat level, and the other half of the time it will be scaled to your rank in the Potency Improvement passive.

I’m very glad to see that potency runes will be harvestable, but I do not like node scaling in the Base Game Zones because you SHOULD be able to reliably harvest any level of material - by going to the appropriate zone (not by having to have gathering alts strategically leveled to pick up specific materials). With this scaling method certain level potency runes will not be harvestable to many players because they do not have a character of that level and/or have not leveled enchanting to that specific point and left it there. I think this scaling strategy is going to result in a lot of certain runes and hardly any of others, and basically force you to have to buy your runes rather than harvesting them, and that is not a direction I’m pleased to see crafting going.

Crit surge does around 3k heals every couple of seconds depending on your crit strikes. Did some testing on a Khajiit stam sorc with warrior mundus stone ( weapon damage I know ) 10 cp into recovery and I was healing every 3 to 4 seconds with crit at 55% for 3.1k.

It's absolutely possible for good magblades and magplars to outdps good Overloading sorcs. While doing that, magblades and magplars also won't have to sacrifice using their ultimates on trash and possibly even half the bosses in order to save it for the next fight(during which sorc's sustained dps is gonna be the lowest of all classes), they can just keep using them as they fill, providing for much higher overall dps as well. Also, while doing that, magblades and magplars are also capable of pulling some OP selfheals(in magblades' case group heals even) just as a side effect of that dps, that do not have a cooldown and do not depend on crit.
Magblades, magplars and even DKs are also capable of using DW as their main weapon of choice to further increase sustained dps as, unlike sorcs, they DO get "spammable insta cast nukes" without a destro staff.

So please stop talking about OP sorc dps. It's simply not up there. Sorcs have an "easy"(and buggy) option for rather high burst dps but it is NOT the highest and it's literally all they have. No utility, no good selfheals, no good sustained dps and not even the highest burst (anymore).
Also, what's Overload like on PTS? On live it's the buggiest skill #1 for me, working properly about as often as Toppling Charge does, and I haven't seen anything about fixing it in the patch notes.

Please. Don't go suggesting crazy things. Bah, what am I saying. I am sure there is someone in the studio that would love to do this and this is already on the white board.
Right. They've either thought about this already, and it's already on the board, with this being the first stage of rollout, or they will realize that it's a crazy suggestion and will see that doing that exact thing to potency runes is just as crazy. If this is the ultimate plan for crafting, we should encourage them to stop it now, before it goes any further. If they want people to engage in crafting, making it harder for that to happen by restricting what mats can be gathered from the world is certainly not going to help.
Unless this is a bug, I am pretty sure they won't realize this is a "crazy suggestion". For one thing, it would be deliberate, so they would obviously think this is a great idea.
Yeah, I'm sure it is deliberate. What I don't understand is why they would make one crafting profession function in a completely different way to all the others. It's inconsistent with what we have learnt about how crafting materials are distributed, and that's what I think is crazy.

This is from PTS 2.4.0 patch notes:
    Maelstrom Arena
Improved the rewards for Maelstrom Arena so now every level of the Arena is guaranteed to grant a set item.
Note: The only exception is the final Arena on Veteran mode, which may still drop a Maelstrom Weapon instead.
Maelstrom Arena leaderboard rewards are now guaranteed to contain a Maelstrom Weapon, and have an additional 50% chance to award a piece of Jewelry as well.
Expanded the weapons awarded through the Maelstrom Arena leaderboard to include a wider variety of Traits, including Nirnhoned.
This is not what you want?

    2. an anti-Sorc. agenda'ist because of Sorcs having second best burst in PvP (which is far more easily dodged...)
    3. working for ZOS...

    Which is it huh?

Sorcerer's are getting nerfed into PvE oblivion and you have the gall to make utterly unfounded and counter-factual statements like this?

    Wow...

Actually he is comletely right and you should L2P sorc. Sorc have by far best burst in pvp, sure you have to time it, but if you'r exped you can do 30k+ in 1 sec no problem. As for PvE, I almost never do it with my sorc, but when i do i pull 20-25k non overload and 35k+ overload single target. I find that more then enough to pull my weight in PvE.

Poisons are way too strong and will kill the rest of what little small group pvp was viable in PvP. It's all about who has more numbers now. 60% cost increase? How about 5% if you want to do an effect like that.

I've stuck with the game for over a year now with nerfs, nerfs, and nerfs for people who play outnumbered. This poison change will simply make it impossible to get any enjoyment out of small group PvP.

Instead of jumping in the forums and crying a river. I think I'll test the new sorc changes. I have been a stam sorc since pre launch. I know everyone else wants spamables for the class and I get it But for someone like me who wants to be able to do different things what your doing works. The only thing I honestly think would really unload stam sorc to greatness would be making pets scale off magica and stam. I enjoy playing a ranger style when I solo from time to time, but because it's actually awful damage wise I don't in any group content. Also a reduction in cost for the clanf heal. Magica don't use it and stam can't afford it for such a small heal. Not a huge reduction, just to where a stam sorc can use it 1 or 2 more times than now would be good. Lastly mag sorcs need a dmg buff on non overload play. Templars do more dmg and have more survivability thus making mag sorcs kinda a run and hide caster instead of the cast in your face bad a$$

It is odd that all content they are releasing is primarily PvE, but they always balance skills based on PvP. Strange.

What I don't get is, if they can 'battle-level' Cyrodiil and adjust how things work when our character goes there, WHY can't they make certain skills have a 'Cyrodiil ONLY' variation?!? This way it wouldn't so severely impact PvE. I swear, every MMO that has PvE/PvP always has this same exact problem... why they don't code their games with the ability to have different skill variations between the different content is beyond me.

    Templar
    • Restoring Light
      • Extended Ritual (Cleansing Ritual morph): This morph now also increases the amount of negative effects cleansed from the casting Templar to 5 from 2.
      • Ritual of Retribution (Cleansing Ritual morph): This morph now also increases the amount of healing done to you and your allies by 20%; the damage done to enemies has been increased to match this value.
      • Sacred Ground: Fixed an issue where this passive ability’s Movement Speed reduction was removing enemy players from crouch or Invisibility.

    OMG ... Thank you

I was abut to give up my magica templar
    Thx

I wonder if Ritual of Retribution will actually be a viable alternative and legit DPS in PvE now. The Cleansing ritual morphs are now looking very good again.

Has anyone tested the new Ritual of retribution ? Is it any good for PvE?
