That's probably the biggest misconception that is holding back decent MMORPGs. And yes, I've done both PvP and PvE.

Seems like a lot of them are also the type of people to play a game such as ESO, that is pushing single player content out in masse, and charging for items in the crown store that real single player games have for free and you can mod whatever you want into the game, for free.
If they had their way they would drive the game to the ground and when it dies, go to the next MMO and run it to the ground.

I'm right there with you. I love PvE and PvP. I've been in the trading community with dipping my toes into the RP (ERP plz) community to lull the boredom while waiting for my friends to log in to do a dungeon. The majority of both the PvE and the RP community seem so keenly against PvP it's ridiculous. It's stupidly easy to get the hang of, provides a few hours of giggles, and you learn things that you can actually USE in PvE.
I simply DON'T get why people (anti-PvPers) don't like it. I mean I respect their opinions and all, but a lot of them that I've talked to that have gave an opinion close to "I don't like it because of the community" have never dipped their toes into PvP at all. Every community has it's bad side, but I've met a lot of good people through PvP and they always give me food for thought every time I have a question. Even MORESO than the PvEers were. Even despite my own grievances to PvP, it's not enough to hate it. I hate the condition it's in, sure... But that's an entirely separate issue.
Either the profit of having a stable PvP community isn't outweighing the development cost or Zenimax are just ignoring it and/or not knowing how to fix their problems.
The so called improvements thus far have been laughable; lowering the population cap just tells us that they don't really seem to care about their initial idea of large scale combat.
I honestly don't see any reason to play the game in it's current state, there's a huge potential but the enjoyable parts are rare and few and I've already wasted enough time on potential.
I might re-address the game once any type of structured PvP is implemented, something tells me that once that happens it will be too late considering new game releases seem to already have taken a fair portion of ESO's player base.
Cyrodiil might as well be removed for all I care right now, they obviously never did any real changes and their focus seems to be selling PvE DLC's which isn't in my interest.

And both PvE and PvP have their whiners so it is not fair to just blanket say it is all PvP fault.
And it is possible to balance separately, they do so now to some extent via battle leveling, although that needs some work.
thank the questing pve crowd for nerfing any grind spot accessable. pvper prefer grinding over questing by alot(as it is much faster) and thus will never demand changes in that regard.

Please point me towards the section where the word all is used in my post, once you've done that, take a close look within any active PvP guilds whether or not the activity has changed, I can only speak for the server I'm playing on.

Pre-emptive argument to hamstring the revisionist history apologists: NO, the performance wasn't better back then because people weren't using aoe, and didn't have max level characters. That argument has no merit. There are plenty of aoe effects, (talons, negate, steel tornado) that you could get very early on and the game didn't lag even in AOE spam. One of the later PvE patches killed PvP. Not aoe. Though having no aoe caps initially probably helped performance too.

Just gonna give you my two cents as a PvEer and RPer. I personally don't go into cyrodiil for PvP, mainly because I don't get too much enjoyment out of it if I'm alone, and out of the content in the game it's probably one thing I enjoy the least. That's not to say that I hate PvP, I by no means hate it, I just don't enjoy it enough to bring me to doing it unless someone decides to ask me to join them or picking a fight in cyrodiil or imperial city if someone attacks me first while I'm doing more PvE oriented stuff like delves and dolmens.

I'm mainly talking about the ones that are hellbent on avoiding it at all and every cost (never ever going into Cyrodiil at all), that would like to have it removed, and that want to burn the PvP house down and enjoying themselves while they do it. I don't think you belong in that group.

Ah I see what you mean. I guess I can understand part of it, wanting to explore Cyrodiil and Imperial City without the risk of being bulldozed by a zerg or slaughtered by a ganker, but without PvP those zones lose a lot of their purpose and would be worse off I'd guess. Although I'd have to say I also dislike the portion of the PvP crowd that like to call PvEers "carebears" or "casuals" and would love an open world PvP that couldn't be opted out of. That said I also dislike the part of the PvE crowd that calls PvPers sociopaths and murderers. Both crowds have their nutcases is I guess what I'm trying to say but I started to ramble here.

You sire need a lecture in the English language, a fair portion does not equal the entire cake.
There's a few new games which some European guilds started playing;
- Black Desert Online
- The Division
Those titles are obviously the most recent ones.
For the record, the sentence you quoted is referring to the fact that the development time is lasting longer than the average tolerance while the escalation of migrating players might continue.

I can only hope ZOS proves me wrong, I want everyone to enjoy lag-free pvp because it can be loads of fun.
Once lag is fixed we can resume the pvp balance discussions.

The lag is caused by the engine. Honestly I hear this complaint in every game. Even ones who dump a lot of money into servers and bandwidth. I dont know there is a solution to it.

Dude I'm not sure if you're aware but UO died with PUB 16, end of discussion. You're indicating the opposite.jamesharv2005ub17_ESO wrote: »As far as these titles neither are MMOs. If thats the kind of pvp you want then you should leave now. You will never have that kind of PVP in a MMO.
What difference does it make whether or not the title is an MMO or a puzzle game, the PvP element is there nevertheless and the fact remains that people will choose the better alternative due to the obvious lack of improvements here.
Now if you'd actually put any effort into analyzing a text before commenting on it you might realize that the community is stating that this game was working better in the past in terms of latency issues.

Those who dump a lot of money into servers and bandwidth are just not getting where the problem is - it is not technical in the first place, but a game resp. combat design issue, which leads to player behavior, which again leads to interaction resolution methods which scale in a horrible way and bring server performance down. You can complain as much as you want, the math behind it is what governs it's viability - and as long as lead design is not getting that, not much will change.

He thought people would actually work together for the common good. He was badly mistaken. Its why at first trammel was going to simply be a mirror of felucca. After losing about 50,000 of the 100,000 original customers UOR was released. Peak after UOR was about 250,000 players so saying UOR killed UO is simply ludicrous.
