If I can, my experience differs from yours regarding voice chat on Xbox one.
And that's the problem with this game, Text Chat solves those issues that don't plague other MMO's. Text Chat is important for an MMO especially when it's a game you need to play HOURS a day to progress.

That is your problem with the game. It also may be some others but as I mentioned in the other thread you quoted me for a different topic. The choice is...play it as is, play it on another platform or don't play it at all.
We are all entitled to our own opinions and can freely discuss them but to expect ZOS to make changes due to our opinions is unrealistic overall. They've made changes to feedback they've asked for but on topics where they've not asked for feedback...no responses or changes occurred.

Sorry it isn't unrealistic at all to expect ZoS to make changes especially with Text Chat.
I've already stopped playing, I'll get back to it when they add text chat.
And you act like you're the ambassador of ZoS, it's quite hilarious really. No still going to constantly bring it into ZoS attention that this game needs text chat.

It's not about whose happy and whose unhappy, it's about pointing out how flawed ESO is a long with it's bad choices and they're unwillingness to admit that Text Chat is essential to MMO's.

Text Chat will help with guild recruitment, selling and buying items, grouping up for delvs, dungeons, and other pve group related content. It will make it easier for making pvp groups as well.
All pretty big issues atm
See thats weird as on xbox i hear ppl in Area helping each other, build advice, selling
Never said that grouping, selling and helping isn't happening. What I am saying is that text chat would make those thing much easier to do.

I think guild based text chat window(would serve as a chat room under social within guild tab) chat bubbles and PM system(able to target a player, click message, and have a chat box pop up for instant messaging) would be a sweet compromise for both sides of the argument as none of what I mention would effect another player's screen, except for chat bubbles which isnt a big deal.
it should be exactly like the PC version, there's no clutter. The people who claim that are just lying.

If you've already stopped playing, why linger around on the creep in the forums of a game you don't play, demanding they make a game you like?
It kind of makes me a little sad for you. I think if you had found some good guilds to join, your opinion would change. The game is about having fun, afterall.
I play on PC. But I know where you guys are coming from. No text chat is seriously hindering me from purchasing the console version, so I can play with my cousin. Between us we could text chat through our phones. But still, I can't imagine why it hasn't been implemented.
What I don't want when coming home from a long day at work is listening to kids screaming, and general racial abuse over headphones, as I read is happening. I'd like to chill and play, and read what people are selling/buying.
I agree that text chat is something every mmo should have.
Yeah its a huge issue, the other day I wentered into a city to sell some items to NPC and work on my crafting. There had to be close to 20 people talking at once , which I can deal with most of the time but then there was one person just screaming "Ni**ers! You all are a bunch of Ni**ers!" And was just repeating that over and over, and I could not figure out who was saying that, so I eventually just muted my TV.
This type of obnoxious crap always happens.

The fact that you say "This is it. Play as it is, and thats it." is quite disturbing. These forums are for feedback for devs to make improvements, fixes to the game and thats exactly what this thread represents. If YOU dont like the idea many are presenting, fine, but dont act like an ambassador for ZOS or consoles.. because thats exactly how you are acting. You speak for no one but yourself, so let the masses speak for themselves. Theres more people for this feature, than they are against it, and you know this which is why you campaign on these threads over nd over nd over. Say what you have to say, and move on. This is how MMOs work, and theres many examples of players taking to the forums in hope of change or fix to something in the game, and the Devs eventually listening to the players, and thats how an MMO grows and improves.
Its silly to argue against OPTIONS, and freedom for all players to play the way THEY want, and theres no, I repeat, NO logical argument you or the other 2 people against this request can make to counter "Optional text chat window that can be minimized"
Let it go. You dont speak for console players. People want this feature and will continue to ask for it, you are doing nothing to contribute to the discussion. No one needs your help, we dont need you playing the middleman between players and ZOS, who do you think you are? you are just another player, thats all, like the rest of us. Its not unrealistic for devs to make changes to an MMO because of the opinions of the playerbase, it happens all the time, do you even play MMOs?
The countless logical reasons to add text chat trump the whole "cuz I dont want it" argument the very few opposed posters are spewing. Again, you dont speak for anyone, and no one needs your help.

I have never come across more than a few obnoxious people who are usually just having a good time anyway.
More often than not, voice chat is full of people groupings and talking builds or just emoting and having a laugh.
You know you can capture video on your PS 4 right?
The PS is always recording the last 15 minutes.

Ok there is your issue.
The purpose of the forums...is to discuss things.
There are opportunities for feedback and to ask questions. There are opportunities to request features but the "add text chat to consoles" topics for the most part are not giving feedback or making suggestions.
These topics are bullying anyone who disagrees.
These topics intend to force ZOS to do what you say
These topics are mostly full of arguments and attacks
These topics seem to disregard any prior communications ZOS has provided on the subject
These topics refuse to engage in ideas around getting some functionality
These topics intend to bump and flood other threads with the same ideas that are off topic
This is not the point of the forums which is why so many threads are closed, locked, heavily moderated and ultimately not addressed.
When ZOS grabs questions from the ask of anything thread and avoids addressing the topic that's a response. It's one thing if it's a new topic and overlooked but it's another when the topic has been going on since March /April 2015....sometimes no response is an acknowledgement.
Your points or rather opinions in reference to me speaking for console gamers and freedoms / options or choice.
In short...you are more than welcome to your own ideas, opinions, etc but don't assume that because a small part of the population who have either a smart phone, computer or who frequent forums are somehow the greater voice of the console community is far off base.
My last question...and it's a serious question..
Does anyone want to talk about coming up with ideas for some sort of support or do you want to defend, argue and continue to place input on why your idea needs to be implemented?

OK... Taking points in order.
Forums are for many things. To discuss yes but also for player feedback. This is what we are giving.
We are making a suggestion. The suggestion is add a text box. The reasons for this have been given many many times.
Arguing for what you want and disagreeing with people who come up with insubstantial reasons against it is not bullying.
Yes. We do want ZOS to do as we say. Thats kinda the point.
Arguments yes but thats not always a bad thing. The only attacks tend to happen when sanctimonious trolls turn the conversation that way.
ZOS can change their mind.
We have a functional idea. A text box that can minimised as per the players wishes.
Actually this is a massive issue that leaks into other areas very easily.
You have no idea why this is not being addressed. And so many are locked and heavily modded is again mainly due to said sanctimonious trolls baiting people.
No when a topic has been going on since then its ignorance and rudeness to not give a single response. So we keep trying to get said response.
You have literally NO idea how many current players want this. Non participation in forums is just that. It neither confirms nor denies anything. All we can go on is what people who are here say they want. They overwhelmingly want text chat.
No I do not want to engage with a random player on suggestions for 'compromise' that only he seems to think has more chance of being listened to. We will stick to our guns.
Thanks for coming.

Just curious

Gotcha...
If I can, my experience differs from yours regarding voice chat on Xbox one.
And that's the problem with this game, Text Chat solves those issues that don't plague other MMO's. Text Chat is important for an MMO especially when it's a game you need to play HOURS a day to progress.
Respectfully...
It is what it is
The fact that you say "This is it.

First, I don't have an issue. Dead that right there please.
So what that this thread has been around since March with no answer, why does it bother you that people are still clinging to the hope of it being added? Check any MMO forum, and you'll see countless threads similar to this one of fans rallying for the addition of a feature, and sometimes the Devs eventually add it. Like I said, do you play MMOs? its baffling that you act like this is unprecedented. It's not.
We represent the vocal community, not the whole console community. We aren't trying to speak for anyone but ourselves. Like I said yesterday, me my brother and 4 guild members created a profile just to vote and support these threads. We don't have to be the greater voice of the community, those players probably don't even care whether it's added or not. I'd like to think the average person wouldn't be against options (I feel weird even having to point this out)
Stating the game needs text chat, or asking for it to be added is NOT trying "force" ZOS to add anything, please stop accusing us of doing that unless I missed some "ZOS PUT TEXT CHAT IN RIGHT NOW! DO IT!" posts which in that case you can point those out for me, and no, posters crying saying they will quit is not "trying to force" its whining.
For your serious question, I already came up with ideas in this thread and the other one, and in a discussion with you directly, when you asked me, which you didn't respond to and so I'm not going to bother posting it again. I'm not just in support of text chat, I'm in support of options and freedom to all players, to play the game the way they want to play it. Again, this isnt unprecedented.

It is what it is
I've already stopped playing....
If you've already stopped playing, why linger around on the creep in the forums of a game you don't play, demanding they make a game you like?
It kind of makes me a little sad for you. I think if you had found some good guilds to join, your opinion would change. The game is about having fun, afterall.
I too have stopped playing but the reason myself and others keep posting is the reason we have left is entirely due to the no text chat issue. We want to come back and play because it is for the most part an excellent game that is being ruined by the most bizarre decision that any MMO has taken ever. I myself am not asking people to stop playing and it is a personal decision. So the message is simple as far as im concerned. Pop in the text chat and you get £120 from me a year as I always sub to games I play. Dont and you get nowt. So yeah I'll keep posting here till its put in.

Please stop replying to this guy. He got the last thread temporary shut down for his antics.
This guy avoids questions, troll baits people with rediculous demands and "compramises" and he does not add to the discussions positive notes.
I suggest you ignore him and mrskinskull becauseboth have demonstrated the same behavior.
We need to continue to bring the severity of this situation to Zenimaxs attention with how much adding text chat will enhance the gameplay experience on consoles. Please ignore those two trolls.
Here is a secret
I've not been moderated, warned or had any comments removed or deleted/edited.
My opposition to the idea or comments (other than one) aren't baiting anything but ideas that haven't been scrapped.
If it's uncomfortable for you sorry but that's how I engage on things like this.
Pulling ideas out of ppl to get to a resolution.
I'm not why threads are being closed.
Ace_of_Destiny wrote: »Be careful anyone posting in this thread.
I have a suspicion that some people posting here are trying to get "reactions" out of other posters, and then reporting the "replies" themselves directly to the forum Mods.
So...act like you are talking to your Grandmother when replying to anything in any "textchat" thread.

Text chat as on PC - scrapped previously by ZOS
Text chat via bubbles using customized radial chat - maybe
Text chat box within the social menu - maybe
Other text chat ideas- needed
here's an idea then,
Keep the PC chat/text box as is, right stick "in" for Xbox controllers (nothing mapped there anyways), this brings you now into the chat box itself, now click "a" on one of associated tabs (area, trade, guild, custom etc), use attached usb keyboard or standard Xbox on screen keyboard and type said msg, now hit enter/done
And omg! We now have the PC chat option on consoles, in all of its glory using the unbound keys already on my controller! I don't even have to get up for that
For the options that are usually present on PC chat to exclude certain channels, show the box, etc (your chat options if you will) can be added into the social tab like a standard options menu including the option to MINIMIZE/HIDE the chat box... In about 5 mins there's a solution to chat that uses all of the joy in this topic for the pros and cons and in my mind works while taking into consideration all sides of this argument
I play on Xbox NA so I don't know PS controls but I would venture a guess it's similar/doable as well... Don't get me wrong it's not a simple feat but shouldnt step on anyone's toes and in theory, a win win....
