I watched one episode some weeks ago, someone was spamming questions about text chat and nothing was said about it, but maybe we'll get lucky this time, though I think no aswers was given as it was asked rudely...2 -

ThoraxtheDark✭✭✭✭Agreed. I am not one to talk to others (not because I can't but because I am a sarcastic, rather nasty person with a mean sense of humor) and, frankly, I don't really want to listen to them either. Most are absolutely inane.
Makes it tough to group.
Example: I have probably talked on the phone 5 times in the last 10 years. Text and IM are ways of life for me.
im sure you have a lovely voice, socializing helps create new friends and acquaintances and can actually help you on multiple levels by communicating with people.
i dont think this game needs a text chat because i love the fact it mirrors real life, if you want something you have to speak up and someone will hear you. just be polite and be mindful that there are younger players playing and listening.1 -

Mirrors real life ? In most places I work and go if a group of people started screaming out what they do in area voice chat at women they would be arrested. On the spot.
You must live in a horrific place if area voice chat for the PS4/Xbox mirrors how people act around you in real life.

No one screams where i live / work. Exaggerating the claim that all area chat is is " screaming out" is a bit immature. i have heard countless polite conversations, between respect individuals in game on lots of different occasions. Depending on which platform you play on, there are probably more newer players on the consoles, knowing that it is reasonable to assume some of these new players can act a bit excited when they throw on a headset and yes their are younger ages that play this game.
i understand people shout and scream and act silly, but i feel as though it is not as bad as you make it out to be as i play the game and cannot really relate. teenagers are not the most mature bunch of individuals i give you that2 -

One of many , many , threads and posts in various places of how women are harassed in area voice chat.
But yeah , nothing but polite folks you've ran into , and yeah , the 12 year olds screaming out C word definitely will calm down for you and others telling them to.
Go into starting areas or main towns on the console , start asking questions as a female , and it's like 8th grade locker room chat x10 within a minute or two.

Now you are trying to avoid the obvious and we all know it.
A user can be gender-less in text chat if they wish.
They are known immediately to be female in voice area chat. But you think it's ok for them to be called Cnt , bioth ,wh0r , etc often and immediately because their voice is heard I guess.
I'll just ignore you from now on , just saw your other post in another thread with the "cool story bro" remark disregarding someones's problem with being harassed because you say you haven't heard it.

Sexual comments. Swearing. Racial comments. Religious comments. Random music blasting away.
How is this NOT in an breach of Xbox one T&C?
What rating has this game got again on Xbox one?

Its one of my few complains about the game,it just removes much of the social aspects of the game,it makes everything feel empty and its so hard finding a group,I am tired,i am playing eso less becouse of this. By talking about this i have mostly been met by downvotes,silly arguments like "console players dont like to type" and people telling me to go back to pc.
Those people could not be more wrong,i have sent and gotten more messages in eso then any game on xbox,and in Eso you got to first stand close to the player,then hold start,then choose view gamercard,then you have to wait a couple seconds,then finally choose send message! Alot of people are doing it so what makes people think console players will be against text chat?
Why not have text chat so we dont have to go through all those things? Its so annoying,how could ZoS not see that this was a bad design?
There is nothing wrong with voice chat,but having only voice chat is not enough in a MMO, not having text chat just makes everything more difficult,i cant type lfg so everyone in the zone can read,i cant advertise my guild,i cant chat with many people,cant do all the great stuff we could do if we had text chat,
Instead i need to yell lfg in voice chat and be met by people telling me to shut up or people making fun of my accent,crying babies,dogs barking,people figthing,someone chewing etc.
I have heard people say that text chat would ruin their immersion but they couldnt be more wrong,seriously why cant we have both text chat and voice? And no i wont go back to pc,i want to help zos improve the console versions.
Zos,what about people who cant hear? What about people who cant speak english to well but can read and type better? What about people who just dont feel like talking? What about people who are mostly in party chat?
Zos,I love this game,i just think its such a shame that you are ignoring this problem,why make the console version inferiour on purpose? Please listen to your paying customers,we just want to make the game better.

I think there is only one problem with text chat for console. and that is the interface.
1) What button does the user press to open text chat window and type.
2) what button do they press to switch between chats (LFG/TRADE/ETC)
3) how do they close the chat, and what happens when they close it. does it minimise to maybe a few lines of text in a corner.
4) how will people invite to group and message/reply
(1&3)the reason being is for pc with numerous key bind options its very easy to have a chat window bound to a letter on a keyboard you probably wont accidentally press. and even if you do you can close it quick. unfortunately say on the ps4, If i open a chat window it will take a while before the console keyboard controlled by the pad movement (or the buttons if you prefer) will pop up and then take a while to close it again. if i accidentally open my chat on the console i will very likely die because it will be 2 or 3 seconds before it loads and i can close it again.
I believe for PS4 the touch pad is not used currently with ESO, so this may be a good option. but i dont know what the XBOX1 is like. otherwise pretty much all the buttons do something. So accessing the chat by going through the menu system is an alternative, but would be very frustrating particularly if LFG "healer looking for group" you dont reply fast enough because cant just pause the game to respond and navigate sub directories only to find someone already managed it and invited the guy.
(4) or you want to invite the guy but when you invite to group or in game message it now navigates you out to the PS4 menus you then have to look for the person if they aren't on the firends list. you need to look in the psn search box. you cant just type their name and you also cant easily navigate back to check how they spell the name and so on. a good way this is sorted on DCUO is the invite to group option will display the last 20 or so people who spoke in addition to allowing you to type the name.

It's not as complicated as you make it to be and remember, ZOS is a game developer, designing UIs is part of what they do and I am sure they will find and implement a solution to those issues. We have to express our feedback, and they will analyse and take action upon it.1 -

How long did you have to wait to have that happen?
As on Xbox EU i haven't ever sen ppl dancing like that, I rarely hear swearing, racial comments and that is in the same area as vid. Mostly i hear ppl passing on advice, arranging trades, I did hear one guy call himself the king and ask if anyone wanted to donate to him .. but ppl enjoyed that, they were chatting, swapping advice etc
I haven't ever heard ppl have a go at females either but probably because these days .. the majority of ppl couldn't give a rats if you are male, female, both and yes that is with voice as well.ZoS please understand everyone thinks and pronounces things differently, so please add to your 'rules' that things get removed if the Mod doesn't actually quite understand phrasing0
