cerrudo33✭✭✭The problem en large is that we have a young game on console so in general, people as a whole are focused on quality of life improvements whereas the elder PC community is starved for content and is very likely tired of hearing about chat.
Really there is no excuse to not have the OPTION to use text in game if someone wants to... It is a pressing concern for consoles since we have plenty of content... All of this dissention between for and against text, PC vs console, is that the other parties are worried that focus on one topic would detract from the others concerns...
Tldr: want to clean up community/forums about text? Give a real ZOS response one way or the other but hopefully more then "Soon"3 -

Trying to help it out by saying ui clutter is the reason it should not be apart of the game?
The game needs text chat if it is going to survive. People will (and have been already) leaving because of this issue. The lack of a text chat makes it difficult for people to form groups of a n y kind for either pve or pvp content. It makes it harder for Guild recruitment, it also makes it difficult to sell or buy items. Also the lack of text chat makes it just about impossible for people who are deaf and hard of hearing to communicate with any one in this game.
These are the things affected by not having a text chat, these are things that will cause people to leave the game. Not your "ui clutter".

Trading - Keep in mind, if you want to trade an item for an item (i.e. not selling something) then the guild traders are not an option. If you're looking for something specific (and rare), it's almost impossible to find the item you want. Even if you're part of multiple trade guilds. You have to resort to being one of "those guys" on voice chat that goes from city to city going "OI! ANYONE GOT ANY OF THEM DWEMER PAGES!?"
Finding groupmates - The group finder tool is completely and utterly worthless on consoles; it took me an hour and a half to find one person. Being part of a guild with almost 500 members doesn't guarantee you that one of those people will want to do the dungeon with you. This time, you need to wait ungodly amounts of time outside of the dungeon (sometimes over an hour), spamming people that walk past with group invites.
Text Chat/Zone Chat would make both of these issues so much easier to deal with, and I'm sick and tired of being spammed with "stop acting entitled" when I bring this up.Guildmaster of Spectral Liberty - Xbox One - European Megaserver2 -

...never mind ...you guys are into defending yourselves and your arguments while no one who is a decision maker is asking anyone of us those questions. It doesn't need to be defended of why there are benefits or why text chat should be added.
I thought by trying to ask a broad question but as anyone can provide one or two examples of anything the comments go back to arguments and ppl trying to defend their position and opinions.
On the other side I could show you where each time I go to major cities there are seemingly 50-100 people talking using voice chat to trade, LFG, meet ppl, role play but none of that helps the discussion.
It's not about why any person wants it or a need for anyone to provide examples of why it should or should not be added.
It's all about coming up with ideas that allow Zenimax to give you the feature without compromising what's been decided upon already. How can this be added in a way that fits the current mold without taking away or disrupting anything that already exists.
Hopefully that makes sense

Compromising? The game is already compromised because they felt Console Gamers were lazy.

I don't understand how you could've seen 50 people talking all at the same time , the most i've seen is 5 and even at that the speech gets so cluttered that you can't even play anymore and have to leave area chat.2

Hey man...the direction you guys are taking isn't working. I've tried to help you all understand this as well as inform others of what has occurred from similar methods and the feedback from ZOs on ESO Live to those methods.
Do as you please but it's not that I don't understand.
Let go of the thought that you're compromising with me because to be honest I have no desires to see the feature at all.
As a forum member I'm only helping other forum member communicate to Zenimax in a better way. It's clear that you and many others in this topic do not want nor are open to the feedback of others even if they too want the feature added.
Best of luck on your endeavors...but this isn't progress it's just stubbornness and threads full of complaints and insults towards me and even ZOS-PC (PTS)/Xbox One: NewBlacksmurf
