Not at all. Melee range in ESO is 5, 7 or 8m (why can't ZOS just pick one and stick with it) and Puncturing Strikes is a melee skill. The last thing I want to do, as a melee build, is knock back my target out of this range using my spamable melee skill and chase after them. Keeping a target in melee range is also important for other skills to work, such as, Sun Shield, Rune Focus, Solar Barrage and all weapon skills.
If we ever do need a knock back, the very next skill in the skill line, Piercing Javelin, provides it. Although, I would prefer an AOE CC skill, or better shields.
Templars don't have an escape like Sorcs or NB, so we are expected to fight it out like DKs. DKs have a lot of skills that allow them to stand and fight - we know what they are - their skills work and are well supported by the devs. Our survival skill set has included our shield (Sun Shield), a damage multiplier (Backlash), Eclipse (I can't think of a category for Eclipse), an AOE CC (Blinding Flashes), quick heals (Rushed Ceremony), and two powerful buffs (Restoring Aura, Rune Focus).
Over our history, Blazing (Sun) Shield and Backlash quickly got capped in returned damage and/or shielding - multiple times. Blinding Flashes was axed. Eclipse became really bugged, Rushed Ceremony is delayed on casting and the Templar must be Magicka-based anyways for the big heal, Restoring Aura is passive only for us unless we go Repentance - leaving us with.. ta da.. Rune Focus as our sole unbugged, uncapped, survival skill.
I know, I know, none of us used Backlash prior to 1.6 due to the cast time except under certain circumstances.
Maybe we need an escape and need to play more like NBs and Sorcs our skill set seems rather... it needs work and a focus. I don't think ZOS has any direction for for our class. Why give us a ranged execute when most of our premier skills (by premiere I mean ones getting most of the nerfs) are melee range - to help healers do damage; why not put the skill under Restoring Light? Why remove the limited synergy we had with our Restoring Light passives and all healing? What good is Enduring Rays when used with damaging skills like Backlash and Radiant Destruction with their hard limits on damage or time?CLASS changes

I prefer "Practice Dummy".

Toppling Charge is intentionally broken for over a year, and we have to fight for literally a year to get even a response to a problem that breaks the skill.
DKs complain about an animation bug that does not affect performance in the latest patch and get a response in the same day?
And they wonder why Templars complain...
Not only that but she said something along the lines of it not being able to do it in a hot fix as if they actually looked at doing a hot fix for it. LMAO

I can not agree more with you.
They either need to revamp the Complete Templar, or stop the nerfing and start boosting skills.
When a skill has potential it doesn't mean it is OP, A good example is/ was Blazing Shield.
Forsake everything but HP and you will blow people away. Was it powerful... yes, but you will completely Gimp yourself if you focus on only using Blazing shield.
I have done this, and it worked like a charm, but even in PvE its pretty hard to use, as you need to know what each type of enemy can do and how they fight. Drop this build into PvP, where you most of the time face smart enemies (players), and its even harder. A melee NPC stays besides you, even if your shield is active... a smart player back up.
Having them as more "passive" fighters/ Support class could work, and personally i think it could work like a charm.
You Have Sun Shield/ Blazing Shield, which should speak for itself.
Backlash could deal a lot more bonus damage.
Eclipse could have a magical and melee morph (1 reflects magick attacks for 6 seconds, and 1 reflects Stamina/ physical attacks for 6 seconds)
Radiant Destruction could change back to Blinding flashes, and the Radiant Destruction skill could become a replacement for Restoring Aura (over a 3 second duration a 10-25% of the damage will be converted to Magicka and Stamina. Morphs could become a damage becomes 100% magicka or 100% stamina effect).
The other skills could be focused more on their secondary effect than their current main focus:
- Puncturing Strikes (a CC skill with a bit of damage)
- Spear Shards (Group CC Skill)
- Sun Fire (a High DoT skill)
This is just an idea though...

I thought you were joking but there it was in green and gray.
We have several major issues over the history of the game and no one can care less. DKs have a small graphical glitch and its "Stop all development. WE MUST FIX NOW!" I wonder if all DKs will receive some crowns or a special pet "Templar on a leash" for their inconvenience.

ZOS_GinaBruno wrote: »As promised, here is an update for some of the abilities that were called out. Keep in mind we tried to focus only on abilities that appeared to be bugged, and not actual design decisions. We know some of the answers may seem a little vague, but we honestly just don't have a solid date yet for some of these fixes. Hope this helps, though, and let us know if you have any follow up questions!
- Focused Charge: This ability has a GCD that locks you out of any action for 1-2 seconds after each use. We are aware this is happening, and are working on a fix.
- Eclipse: After a successful spell reflect, you are unable to use any abilities for a few seconds. We are aware this is happening, and are working on a fix.
- Solar Barrage: This ability grants empower, but does not apply to AoEs. It turns out that the bonus damage wasn’t applying to itself, and we’re currently testing a fix for this.
- Sun Fire and Solar Flare: The travel speed of these projectiles is noticeably slower than other casted-projectile spells (such as Crystal Frags). We plan on increasing the travel speed for these projectiles in a future update.
- Breath of Life: This ability appears to have a consistent delay after activation. We plan on increasing the cast time for this ability in a future update.
- Puncturing Strikes: We’re seeing reports that this ability is giving a 4 second CC immunity to every target it hits, regardless if they are hit by the knockback. We’re currently investigating to see if this is a bug or working as intended, and will let you know when we have an answer.

Oh here it is! The most epic CC in the game.
Just noticed that this week..I don't see this bug reported, hope I didn't miss it.
But Radiant Destruction and its morphs are bugged. If you use it on a low health target, then the beam won't show up, nothing will happen in fact, and the target will simply die a second or 2 later.
When using this skill often, this is truly annoying (not as much as Focused Charge, but still) because you're never sure if you're just lagging, or if you haven't targeted the npc correctly, or something else...
Anyway, just reporting yet another bug of our beloved Templar.
Because this CC is impossible to break out of with normal mechanics. I heard popping a potion breaks the self CC.ZOS_GinaBruno wrote: »As promised, here is an update.....

Templar is on a different template, the one with the GCD for every new class ability animation. So this fix does not apply to Templars.likewow777 wrote: »Gotcha! Almost let this fall to page 3. Oh, but did you not see? They released a hotfix with the text:
"Fixing an issue that was causing many abilities to not display their proper visual effects."
Hmm... Many abilities? That suggests 3 or more abilities, otherwise she'd just list the ability names because the list would be so short. But if the list is long, I think we, the players, would really like to see stated which abilities had been fixed. Plus, they, the developers, would be proud of their hard work and would want to list out the fixed abilities.
But they didn't list those "many abilities" explicitly, which I can only assume means that "many" is "one". And that "one" is Talons. GUYS I FIGURED IT OUT!!! *whew* That sure did take me a while to deduce.
