Lol, good find >_<. Although at least we have a rough estimate now of when it will be moved. Mind you, I will not resub till it has moved, because I am not willing to play and get extremely frustrated because I am unable to block.GossiTheDog wrote: »That's correct. Did you play Battlefield 4? They recently released a patch where it works properly on PS4, 6 months after launch. Have a search for Battlefield 4 PS4 rubberbanding on YouTube to see how much good quality is required with console servers.
Back on topic - here's a photo supplied by Matt Firor at Zenimax of the EU datacenter:
They forgot to strip the EXIF properties from the image, you can see it was taken in February:

You can also see the location of the datacenter in Frankfurt.

They probably stopped working on it in february as well.
The EU server is being moved to Frankfurt as soon as they get the datacenter there up and running. It's a rather large project, this isn't something like 2 guys throwing a computer in a truck and moving it.
Basically, they had 2 choices, and I think they picked the best one.
1) They could have delayed the launch of the EU server until the datacenter in Frankfurt was ready. They could've said "You can play on the NA server until then, but you won't be able to play those characters on the EU server when we launch it"
2) What they actually did - they launched the EU server at the same time by temporarily locating it in the US datacenter, said the latency will be a bit worse, but you can play now, and when we get the Frankfurt datacenter up and running, you can still play all your characters.
I think they made the right decision. They let the EU people play without having to wait, AND they get to keep their characters once everything is moved. Getting a datacenter up and running in another country is NOT an easy project, especially for a company that doesn't have offices all over the world.
Just wow. That is disgraceful.GossiTheDog wrote: »In EU (non-server) news; http://connachttribune.ie/galway-jobs-blow-300-gone-software-firm/
The EU players are leaving BECAUSE THERE IS NO TRUE EU SERVER. They only have themselves to blame for this.So they are removing Customer Support contract Jobs.
It can be either 1) most of EU players have left or not creating tickets or
2) cutting losses because they are too big.
Well...
Another thing about EU lag that iv noticed in my NA.
Is this games Internet traffic, utilization, whatever, the data that has to be sent for multiplayer; seems to be worse or less optimized than any other game I have ever played including WoW, Swtor and so on.
I live in Wisconsin, USA, play on NA server, I experience alot of delay, off and on each day is different, I sit at 60+fps at All times, but I have, and the maximum internet speed i can get in my area is "6mbps" which comes out to about 800kb/s download speed and even less upload speed.
Yet i dont have issues on any other multiplayer game like i do on ESO.
the short term contracts were said to be 6 months, not a few weeks, this is why people are a little peeved. So no one understand the term:
The workers at the facility in Rahoon are understood to have been hired on short-term contracts
"Short-Term-Contracts" you understand?
And Console got Delayed, so why keep People if they dont needed to support Console Players ??
Every Company hires short-term-contracts for Release Times, and after that: byebye.
So nothing new or surprise here.

Errr... Yes? Its been months now with nothing but a vague "eeeh maybe later" comment every time we ask.Sigh.
The EU server will fully be in Frankfurt sometimes this summer. They already have one there. Is it some reason to be so mistrusting?
I do not understand why ZoS did not do it from the get go. Wildstar is doing it, and SWTOR did it. The excuse that "Zenimax is new to the mmo scene" just does not cut it, because so was Bioware, and they still did it from launch.ZOS_TristanK wrote: »Hi, folks. Why is then that SWTOR have same downtime as the have in NA and why is it them when the post downtime time it is always in PST for i don't think the SWTOR game servers is in EU at all the are most like in NA for if the was in EU the would use GMT or BST which never use in SWTOR.
lol, post a screenshot of your resource manager, and a pingtest to Austin texas to prove where you live, and maybe I will believe you that you are not lagging, more likely, you are simply used to lagging. Also, your rig has 0 to do with latency. Frame rate, yes, but latency, no.Sigh.

There is technical reasons to keep the servers at the same physical locations regarding core game mechanic problems like the Group lag bug.
Yell at me all you want, but I guess somewhere in July. Dont care really. I can play just fine, and when the group lag bug is fixed, I will invade Cyrodiil.
I live in Sweden, play on DESKTOP with proper hardware setup. And an ISP that doesnt suck.
SWTOR servers for EU are located in Ireland, I have a whole 30 ms lag to them, instead of the 180 - 300 ms lag to the ones in the US.I do not understand why ZoS did not do it from the get go. Wildstar is doing it, and SWTOR did it. So, I cant help but notice this thread has gotten no love in almost a month, has there been ANY news on the subject? Specific dates? Anything?
EU Megaserver Update
We’re getting closer and closer to being able to announce a specific date for the migration of the EU Megaserver to our Frankfurt data center. As I type this, it looks like the move will happen during either the last week of July or the first week of August. This is obviously a delicate operation, and we have to make sure that everything is up and running and that all character data is transferred successfully. We are taking the time to do it right.
