    Complaints: False Advertising
If you have a complaint about deceptive advertising, you should contact the company responsible first to try to resolve the problem. If you are unable to resolve the problem directly with the company, there are several local, state, and federal agencies that can help you with resolving a dispute:

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) handles disputes involving companies marketing and advertising practices. If it does become necessary to file a complaint regarding deceptive advertising, the local BBB where the company in question is located handles these types of complaints.
Contact your state or local consumer protection office.
At the federal level, contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). While the FTC does not intervene in individual cases, your input may help the FTC identify a pattern of law violations that could facilitate law enforcement action. Visit the advertising section of the FTC's website for more information.

04/10/14 - Bought digital Imp Edition directly on 3/5/14. Hadn't been able to play since launch.
Finally got a callback email after 62+ hrs. Asked for a refund. Got a 1-day code instead. -_- Heh.
Pending decision: one more chance or go stuff yourselves.

As stated via the screenshot this is not a mistake, it is a feature and requires you to add a subscription. However I am still unable to load a subscription and still get the transaction not authorized using visa, mastercard and paypal. So my 30 days inclusive is going to just tick off and I cannot access the game unfortunately.
as i said in some previous post you should ask for a compensatory 1 day code in order to set your account to the status Active- non recurring, i purchesed the game on gmg too... and it worked.

Completely correct. I replied to my ticket again asking more assistance as I still wont be able to play and they redeemed a 1 day compensatory code and sorted it all out. I can finally start playing again! Going to be a long nights this coming weekend.

After waiting about 6 hours, I got contacted by phone but unfortunately there was a connection issue. I had explained in the comment box that I don't have a credit card and thus don't plan to choose a recurring subscription, but iDeal instead.

After the failed phone call I got an email with apologies for the bad connection and with a game time code. A quote from the email:

"I definitely understand the concern regarding the subscription and would like to offer a temporary resolution. Below is a one day game time code. This will place a subscription on your account and allow you to use the 30 days game play included with your game."

So I'm not sure if I will be able to play only one day now, or 30 days... I will come back here once I know more, but I hope for the best!
After two and a half days I still have access, so I suppose the one day game time code really gave me access to all my 30 days!

Nope but I find it really sad for someone who has little else to say beside trying to belittle someone else who is giving information for the rest. And really though since we both know you don't know the person you are talking about, just how do you know what profession the above person actually does in real life? Hmm ever thought that a lawyer would actually play MMOs? Reality check pal doctors, lawyers and even actors all play MMOs and that has been a fact for a very long time.

I think I noticed that if you submit another ticket, it'll close out your previous ticket. I can't swear by that though.

So I don't know if i'd recommend spaming tickets, but at the same time you almost have to before you'll get a service rep that'll do something.

I logged about 4 tickets, the one they finally managed to fix my problem on was the first one i logged on friday the 4th. Then this morning I got a response to one I logged later and I had to explain it was sorted out. So maybe logging multiple tickets is not a good thing. Also I found if you immediately respond to a email as soon as you recieved it, you tend to immediately or within 5 to 10 minutes get another response. However if you dont look at your mail for a couple hours and only then send a response.. then expect another couple hours before they get back to you (in my case 48hours) for the next ticket.

So what do people like me get in return for having a direct debit bounced (which will now cost me £15-20 in bank charges) because the funds that should have been there to cover it have been held in limbo for a over a week for what is basically a credit card verification. Because I opted for the 3 months rolling subscription, I have had £23.97 removed from my account, now on the 5th May, I would have accepted that money to be removed from my account when it was due, not on the 4th April.

When you say credit card verification but then direct debit, what do you mean? Was this a fee against your bank account?

Ah ok. I was thinking if they had direct debited you without your approval you could throw the book at them. A credit card you can obviously perform a chargeback but a debit card may not carry that protection. I personally never use mine for that very reason.

I would speak to the provider and explain the circumstance and see what protection may apply. Ultimately suppliers should not be taking money from a card or account without prior permission, I am really not clear on the credit hold matter as this has not happened to me with ESO and the times it has happened (hotels, car rental etc), I have agreed it with the supplier at the time. Either in their WWW terms and conditions (car rental) or face to face (hotels).

Only my guess, but did you saw the forum posts complaining about bots ?

Removing the payment verification process would have huge consequence regarding gold farmer / seller / bot that would have life so easy to stole (no they don't pay them) and activate 100 times more account, poisoning us much more.

    This is not solution.
(That doesn't mean there's no problem with this process, but it exists for some good reasons).

Right okay yeah. Ask how well having a sub based system worked for WoW or UO in dealing with bots. Most "gold farmers" Actually do a process called carding. Carding will bypass there "fund holding" Your excuse for ESO is a very poor one.

You know in dealing with "gold farmers" Just yesterday I was booted off the server while fighting a solo quest boss. With a temp ban.. why?? For spamming chat?? Really I have said maybe two words in chat and that was THANK YOU to someone who helped me in a public dungeon. That was during EARLY ACCESS. At no point in time while fighting that solo quest boss did I say anything at all. I can not complain the ban was only for less then a minute. Yet this shows there system is seriously flawed.

I doubt that a credit card authorization will stop them better than actually having to pay 60 dollars for a new game key whenever their accounts get banned...

I agree the system is somewhat flawed. I'm quite certain it will be improved and our feedback will contribute to.
But it exists for some good, legitimate reasons to protect us from harassment, from gold sellers etc.

This task cannot be handled manually. They need automatic systems to perform it, and it cannot be perfect. It catchs innocent player and cause them trouble. Yes.
But without those systems, there would be much more player complaints.
it's a delicate thing to equilibrate and yes it needs improvement.

Well, in that case the account will already have an active subscription. They won't be paying someone else's subscription. That would kinda forfeit the purpose of stealing, wouldn't it?

They could have done it after the first 30 days, like I've said many times before. I'm not saying they shouldn't do it at all. And there is a difference between people with a credit card subscription and people using pre-paid methods.

30 hours ago I was charged a full 14.99 - other companies charge .99 to determine if your account is active - I don't have the use of my money - I really don't want corporate America accessing my account with rollover billing. We're told that time cards are available from select retailers (but not which ones) why can't I purchase game time directly from ESO? I can do that with WoW. If this is not resolved by today's close of business I will cancel my account and get a refund. So far this constitutes a breach of contract.
