Hi Everyone. Wanted to provide an update that maintenance for the game megaservers has concluded. Thank you for your patience while we worked through some delays that were outside of our control that led to the extension our originally planned maintenance window for today. All live game servers are now back online and open to players, and the newest Golden Pursuit "Love Calls in Tamriel" is now active. We will publish the information article for this Golden Pursuit tomorrow morning. Please note that maintenance is still ongoing for the ESO store and account management system on elderscrollsonline.com. Thanks again for your patience!

Like I really just totally missed out on the waiting and anticipation of an epic 20 hour maintenance entirely?

I guess it makes sense. Yesterday I did all my ESO dailies in the morning, then I ventured forth into a most epic and genius inspired journey. I went on a road-trip to Maryland to eat at the nearest Quizno's. 122 miles away (worth it). That evening I ventured into a strange realm that resembled 15th century Bohemia but everyone has an Australian accent for some reason (that is I played Kingdom Come Deliverance 2). Then today was a work day, so I went to work, and I got to do something at work that few people ever get to do: record a timelapse video of a tarantula molting. So that was really awesome and I stayed overtime in order to continue watching Scarlet the Tarantula molt and I did it because she is such a beautiful spider and this pleases Mephala, plus I needed the timelapse to be complete and concise capturing the whole event so it could be posted to social media immediately.

So I just got home not too long ago, ate dinner, took care of my own buggies and then hopped into ESO and nothing was amiss. This 20 hour play-session of the ubiquitous MMO known as IRL was unusually awesome.

Friendly reminder: there will likely be more unexpected maintenance (if getting kicked from the NA server a few minutes ago is any indication)
If it comes with strings, it ain't free. It isn't a gift with purchase; you were overcharged. Companies don't love you; they love money.

I_CraftwithPntButter: 2023 is the year your supposed to be doing better , remember ? (Still waiting for that in 2025)

Advice for the future : com·mu·ni·ca·tion (noun)the imparting or exchanging of information or news.

We had our prog planned for yesterday. Everyone in the group was home earlier that day, so we finally had a change to get a longer prog.
Then we get the classic "extended" on top of already insanely long maintence.

Anywho, what I find the most unprofessional (besides the weirdly long maintences).
How come yall are telling us it gets extended after its already extended? Does it come as a suprise after 12 hours that "Hey, oops. We still have 8 hours of work left to do."

Doesnt it already become clear hours ahead of time? We are talking about 8 hours of extension here, not 30 minutes.
Extent of terrible organizing is unbelivable.

It's bloody Wednesday. No-one with traditional hours has a group ready then.

Speaking of profession, it's bloody asinine to complain about mid-week patches.

Hate to say it but expect ZoS to be primarily 9-5hrs (EST) workers (unless management gets a clue and augments such)

Honestly, I don't depend on daily rewards and there is not an active event on ESO currently as Pan-Tamriel ended. If I don't get time to log in I skip a day, Doesn't bother me. ESO is just a game and not my entire life, I have a life outside the game. But if others want to make ESO their life then that is on the player not ZOS. I wouldn't complain or blame ZOS just because of them needing to update their game. They already stated why they are updating it so just relax. No need to have "end of the world" drama.

That you do not bother to loose daily rewards does not mean that noone else does and should get his reward, ZoS creates limited time rewards to bind players who do bother to ESO by making them feel obligated to get them than not extend or suspend obligation when server is down the whole day.

With these rewards ZoS is practically telling players „we want you to login every day“ and by not doing anything when they are unavailable because server down „You did not do your duty, not our problem the server was down all day“.

ESO beeing a game and games beeing supposed to be fun and not be taken serious does not mean that it is the players obligation to ignore or defend every problem making the game unfun and the developers not beeing responsible at all to make the game fun and fix problems.

Imagine your workplace is closed during worktime and your chef does not pay you for work that day because you did not work when you were unable to because he closed the workplace(and doesnt tell you before so you still have to get there).

I also have life outside of eso and not want make ESO my entire life and would not even login most days without limited time rewards and prefer it that way. But some Online games encourage making them your life and have fault if players feel like they have to do ingame things while servers are down.

I do not even blame eso for updating/maintenance their game all day despite other games managing it much faster but only for not giving players vacation from their obligations. Without limited time rewards players could enjoy a break from eso but with them you are still expected to login.

But somehow an increasing number of zos fanboys think because they do not care loosing a reward by ZoS fault(or any other problem) noone should care or get it returned/fixed and everyone asking for it is an entitled brat and should „calm down“/shut up.

I would not mind if the server is down for weeks if i do not miss out so maybe ZoS should do that and everyone else should also not mind or complain.

So all these hours of maintenance and nothing really changed. I still get massive lag spikes, freezes and crashes anytime I approach a city that has crafting benches, and therefore bigger player count in them. The game's been unplayable for me ever since the event started. I only managed to kill world/delve bosses for the tickets, and did some endeavors. Questing, dailies, and crafting are impossible for me. I wrote to support, but they just thanked me for the feedback and ignored my replies.

The extended hours weren't a walk in the park for the ZoS employees that had to put their own lives on hold to get the servers back up again.

It's unfortunate that this happened, but it was a bigger burden for ZoS having to work 20 hours than for those of us that just didn't get to play.

I wish I could say that I'm surprised by the reaction over this, but sadly it's what I've come to expect.

You assume they don't work shifts or got paid overtime.

There is a huge difference in bringing up concerns, such as asking that we don't lose out on the daily reward for instance, and bashing.

It's crazy to me how entitled people can get because they miss a day of playing a game that we wouldn't even have if it wasn't for the people running it behind the scenes every single day. Anytime we ever have an encounter that messes with playtime etc they ALWAYS make up for it. Please tell me a single other game you can get on a forum and directly talk to a lead developer and actually get a response? Also, why would you be mad at someone doing their job. This is literally what they do as a job. They're working. I'm sure when they have to take the servers down for an even longer extended period of time it suck for then too! I'm sure alot of them are pulling overtime hours away from their families to get this game up and running. Also, it was brought to our attention a while back that they were having problems with DDOS attacks. When they take the servers down for this long it's in part for our protection. Do you want your information leaked bc of a single hacker? Or would you rather them take the servers down to do maintenance? So many act like this is an everyday occursnce. In the 3 plus years I've now been playing it's only ever been down THIS long maybe 3 times tops. Every other time is regular maintenance. I appreciate every single thing this development team does. They truly go above and beyond for us. They deserve praise not constant hate. What makes yall think that being hateful and rude will actually make them WANT to give back to us if something goes south. They're suffering too. It's not right. They're worried about making aure the entire game is working properly and everyone else is super mad they won't get their daily login that you know they're going to make up for in this case bc they always do. They can't help when this happens. But it's sad they can't get the support and praise they deserve. Thank you to the team from myself and many others. Yall go above and beyond for us and many of us are so grateful for it and you!

To add: many of yall talk about being disconnected constantly... most of us don't have that issue and if you do... I would suggest looking at other issues... maybe your setup? Idk... maybe try hardwiring? I've never ever had disconnect issues of that sort. The most I've had is rarely when I'm kicked I get a 307 error or whatever the number is trying to get back in but that hardly ever ever happens. Truly... most of us don't experience CONSTANT disconnect issues....

And another player calling other players incredible entitled for criticizing ZOS for having 20-hour maintenances without even extending timers for linited time rewards and mail expire.

ZoS totally does not always make up for any encounter that messes with playtime. Last time there was a 22 hour maintenance on 12. decembre less than 2 month ago nobody got their login reward or endeavour seals except they had gotten it before, ZoS just gave seals of endeavours as 1st january login reward no matter if you actually failed to login because of servers down, logged in before or did not play anyway. Probably half the players that got compensation you can get on a forum and directly talk to a lead developer and actually get a response did not even notice the downtime or know that it was compensation and many players quit eso in this 3 weeks.
Giving players virtual rewards/compensation costs ZOS nothing as they can be created out of nothing, that they do not care to give back players rewards unavailable because of servers down shows they do not really care.

Normally you can not get on a forum and directly talk to a lead developer and actually get a response, however a maintenance lasting the entire day affecting the entire playerbase is maybe important enaugh to answer a few questions and not let players totally uninformed.
I am pretty sure other games also inform players somehow over maintenance extension although I do not spend time in other games forums.
For any other topic responses from eso developers are extremely rare and the opinion of players get ignored. Despite overwhelming majority of players disliking jabs nerf and mag blastbones change ZoS does ignore all critic and does not revert changes. There are many other examples.
ZoS already gets a lot of money from ESO, we do not owe them gratitude for everything we pay for especially when they ignore all the time what players want

Of course you also blame the players for server connection issues without evidence and probably if the players cant enter for half an hour because they are still „logged in“ it is also their fault.

I got used to it. Or wanting to play a "EVENT"and get shunted out for a day because it is still night in amerca, you get used to that amongst other things.

Hi everyone. We recognize that the unexpected extended maintenance downtime yesterday resulted in some players being unable to log into the game until the following day, and missing out on daily login rewards and some daily Seals of Endeavor.

To make up for this, we are doing the following on all servers:
    • We are adding the Crown Lesson: Riding Capacity (x3) reward to Day 8 of the Daily Login Rewards for March.
    • On March 3 and 4, all daily Endeavor activities will grant double the usual amount of Seals of Endeavor.
Thank you for your patience during yesterday's extended maintenance downtime.

Not really. You can be pushing code to prod and then have it fail towards the end. Sometimes these issues can be found and fixed while you're still in the maintenance window, other times not. Anyways, sounds like it was an external issue that kept maintenance longer.

I want to share a perspective about something I'm noticing here. I've been on ESO since first Beta first off.

I have also played over that time other MMO's that in my opinion do not hold a candle to this game. I worked as a Data Base maintenance tech for MyMiddleEarth.com for several years and was Webmaster running my own radio station and creating websites for people as well as my self. With that I can honestly say I have an Idea what it takes to work on databases.

With that out of the way. I want to say Thank You! to the techs who take the time to improve, repair, and maintenance the ESO servers. I know to some degree what you do and I appreciate your diligence in making sure that when I play the game it runs well. I would much rather play a game where Devs actually take the time to make sure the game runs right, than a half ass game where the Devs could care less.

I also suggest to people, if you don't know what it takes to serve up a game this big and complain about the efforts put forth by the Devs and Techs to fix it and maintenance it. The best thing to do is either find another game Or just sit back and CHILL OUT!
