@ZOS_Kevin you mentioned that paint is extended by 8 hours.

Does this mean extended by a FURTHER 8 hours - i.e. 8 hours beyond the 5pm estimated completion time?

I'm just wondering if it's worth sticking around tonight, or not.

The times reflected here are correct:
    • [EXTENDED] NA megaservers for maintenance – February 5, 12:00AM EST (5:00 UTC) - 8:00PM EST (February 6, 1:00 UTC)
    • [EXTENDED] EU megaservers for maintenance – February 5, 5:00 UTC (12:00AM EST) - February 6, 1:00 UTC (February 5, 8:00PM EST)
    • [EXTENDED] ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – February 5, 12:00AM EST (5:00 UTC) - 8:00PM EST (February 6, 1:00 UTC)

Upgrades? Sweet, what kind of upgrades, can you explain? Is there an ETA to the dungeon bugs, MHK, Castle Thorn, Wayrest 2 join in progress bug, etc? Queue finder bug with 1/2 dps and support takes long time when support queues? Banner bearer bug where someone enters and leaves and it permanently disables all buffs for everyone until turned off and on again?

I am curious as to the logistics and limitations which prevent your teams running the respective NA / EU maintenance separately?

Would it not be more prudent to run them from, for example: midnight through the early AM hours and into the morning?

Historically, we’ve been in a similar situation as today many times, meaning overruns are by no means a surprise to us & certainly ought not be to your teams either. Given this fact, it hardly seems like asking too much to have maintenance windows shifted to factor in these circumstances & ensure prioritising uptimes during core hours.

I’d consider it not only basic consideration to the player base, but simply good business practice…

I have been in the software industry for 28+ years. These server down times are worse than when I was upgrading entire clients in the late 90s. We had the clients full upgraded (network, hardware, and software) in a few hours. Start at like 10 or 11 pm and the client would be up by 1am to do acceptance testing then be back full before 4am. oh well. I'll go kill some Spartans in Halo.

Most every Maintainence is completed in the Window, if not sooner. I think it is once or twice a year they get extended. True, this is a longer than most however these database changes make things better, then it will be worth it.

Now, since we are doing database updates, how about giving us more storage? Like, maybe, Off Line Housing Storage!

20 hour maintenance is crazy, idk if it's a consequence of the megaserver structure but really, this needs addressing, every game has maintenance and downtime is expected, but hardly for an entire day or more

it's worth noting the subscription model + daily engagement system for many activities that are a part of many mmos punish the player for a missed day, which is precisely why they work on making sure the game is down as little as possible, or give appropriate compensation when it has to happen, i have played this game for almost 3 months only, and i am very invested, it is just sad to see that this kinda thing is expected

Some of you need to get outside of playing just one game. Are you afraid you might not actually miss ESO and enjoy something else for a while?

Playing other games insteat of or additional to ESO would be easier if ZoS did not use daily rewards, daily rewards, event shines/boxes and now golden pursuits to keep players artificially depended because of fear of missing out(FOMO).
And even if you play other games besides eso you might still feel obligated to login daily because of FOMO (rewards).
However ESO consumes so much time you better not spend time on other games.

Honestly, I don't depend on daily rewards and there is not an active event on ESO currently as Pan-Tamriel ended. If I don't get time to log in I skip a day, Doesn't bother me. ESO is just a game and not my entire life, I have a life outside the game. But if others want to make ESO their life then that is on the player not ZOS. I wouldn't complain or blame ZOS just because of them needing to update their game. They already stated why they are updating it so just relax. No need to have "end of the world" drama.

This is where ZOS drops the ball a lot.

Instead of sincerely apologizing for the inconvenience and providing us with a reasonable explanation -- which they should because this has disrupted the plans of thousands of customers -- they leave us in the dark, frustrated, festering and theorizing conspiracies.

There may be little outrage in the forums, because it isn't allowed here, but that's not the case elsewhere.

Most of ESO's daily login rewards are cosmetic items like costumes, emotes, and furniture (that is craftable furnishings). Any really exciting daily login's are DLCs which isn't available this month, so I'm not bothered with missing out. Riding skill books... eh, you can just upgrade at stablemaster with in-game gold daily so not really a problem there.

No active event currently, no active golden pursuits, no DLC in daily logins

Costumes and emotes can be added to new crown crates like the "/washyourdamnhands" emote. originally released in daily login rewards but now in a crown crate that can be bought with endeavor seals.

Endeavor seals are just a currency. not a race to see who gets the item first. They rerun crates all the time so whats the deal. no rush just do it when you can. It's just a game, it's not meant to control your life unless you choose it to do so.

Don't let games control you, Life is more important.

That is IMO a player issue. You don't need everything, constantly, right now. Even if you played every day forever, you'd still not have EVERYTHING so it's best to make peace with that and play the game more healthily.
    Hoping for more playable races

Chances are will not be any sort of patch after all of this, its all backend, unless some of the new hardware and updates to their gear requires minor code adjustments which is doubtful
