unfortunately, like with the thread about the BG live stream, i have a feeling this will get turned into nefas being the bad guy, and leaking information, and being to harsh, and blah blah blah. At least internally at zos. Maybe in a post in this thread, although i doubt it. idk why they find it so hard to look inward and admit they are wrong, or made mistakes.

I used it once in a while, though not too often. Biggest issue is that leaves only ESO-Hub which I'm not at all fond of. Then again, I don't need external sites much anyway.

Yeah sadly you can't say zos acted bad because people will fight to the death that the company that has done nothing but lie and crap talk their customers for years are 100% right and angels!

So is he actually leaving? like the other times he said or is he just gonna be back in april when zos does their season preview?

    he'll be back

Nope he's currently deconstructing the ESOU discord server to cut out ESO (its also no longer called ESOU), he also send ZoS an official demand to remove him from all partnership and banned ZoS employee from the discord as he's repurposing it to be his own

ESO-Hub, that's what I use for seeing what scripts and sets do. ESO-Skillbook has skills but its run by the same group (Alcast). Alcasts builds may be bad, but the websites are good haha.

I watched it because I wanted to see why everybody's so worked up over it.

What I saw was a long video where for most of it he brags and boasts about how great he is and how much he's contributed, and then the rest is moaning about how he didn't get the credit, respect, or special treatment he feels he's entitled to.

But hey <shrug> perhaps I viewed it with a different lens.

He has been bashing the game for almost 6 months now while pumping a plethora of other games many which have failed or play like garbage... Remember almost every streamer has an agenda and when the agenda stops fitting the purpose of the stream, they never quietly go away they turn negative to still get clicks so others check in on other crap content.

ESO is a great game and has yet to be slayed by all the negatively being paid out to promo streamers who take handouts to pump other content. The true streamers are the ones who quietly move on professionally to other opportunities in streaming without turning into true bashers.

Shingles are caused by the chicken pox virus. After we have chicken pox the virus lies dormant in the nerve cells near the spine and can become active at any time.

Someone that has never had chicken pox can actually catch it from someone that has shingles because it's the same virus.

It's a huge loss, frankly, as he's been an inspiration to many of us. Whether or not the forum audience sees it isn't too important -- this is increasingly an uncritical and vaguely useless echo chamber at this point.

But for those of us who engage with the game on more platforms where we're free to speak our minds and think critically about it, I'm sure his voice will be missed, as I know from experience that he's pretty well respected, especially in the endgame PVE space.

Given his reasons provided, I can’t blame him for being done. Those are valid grievances that weren’t handled appropriately by folks who were responsible for doing so, and there seems to be a pattern in how situations are dealt with that isn’t exclusive to Nefas.

My biggest takeaway from the video is that I think it’s funny that CMs can call to lecture him about being constructive but then not see how their decisions have lead to people reacting poorly - IE Lost Depths update.

No game community is ever going to happy all the time, there’s always going to be dissatisfaction no matter what shape the game is in, however this is just another thing in an increasingly longer list about ZOS poorly interacting with their community.

I think you are ignoring the part where pretty much every veteran player (PvE or PvP) are upset at the direction the game is heading. Content creators are just veteran players with a platform. Just because someone makes content about a game that doesn't mean they have to agree with the decisions the devs are making.

Spending thousands of hours and a lot of money for a game you are passionate about, and then seeing the game heading into a worse direction patch by patch while the devs act as if nothing is happening is infuriating. These content creators just say out loud what a large part of the community is thinking, because the devs are clearly not getting the message otherwise.

If you are happy about the current state of the game, good for you, but don't be upset about others disagreeing with your vision.

I did and while I can relate to some of his thoughts, the video is also by definition one-sided and biased. Frankly, I think neither side comes out looking good in it.

For example, the TwitchCon stream: He is being told nicely that they "would appreciate no live streaming", but then starts a debate about it before complying. Sorry, he wasn't on his best behavior himself either. And after all this, he has now publicly posted that interaction on YouTube, which is a dirty move on its own.

Or his claim of attempted censorship after his Update 35 video rant: He quickly dismisses that he was "too emotional" or made some "really crude remarks". Well, in the first 5 minutes he drops 21 f-bombs, which is a higher rate than even the most vulgar Tarantino movies. I mean, if you were ZOS and a stream team member did that, wouldn't you reach out as well? Yet they didn't demand the video be taken down or stop working with him. Also, he seems to think it was ok because he didn't "call for people to be fired", "debase the developers", or "send death threats" - bit low standards, no? :D

    EDIT: Typo

Okay, I have watched the video. I got nothing new out of it.

There are instances where Nefas is right and ZOS seemed to have treated him rather poorly and there are instances where I think Nefas could've done better. He is not deleting all of his websites, my opinion is the one with the most impact is the "improved" TTC is going away but I didn't use it anyways.

But the thing is, I don't think faith in ZOS can actually go any lower, as funny and sad as that is. This would have an impact if the community at large thought the game was going great and ZOS is a wonderful company, but an alarming amount of people just do not hold that opinion. We already feel like ZOS doesn't like us or treat us seriously, so it's not a surprise they would treat a stream team member like that. When Nefas said he was told off for not giving constructive criticism and being too emotional when he thought he was being constructive? Rang bells for me, that's exactly the reputation the forums have-- that you will be told off for not treading the fine line. Now, I do think the moderation has gotten better with less censorship and at times communication has been better, but Nefas' video also covers a greater span of time than just recently.

Edit: See, there we go, thank you ZOS_Lunar. If this was a year or two ago this thread probably would've been really trimmed down by now or deleted, but for now ZOS is letting us speak.

This is your Opinion. I have played ESO prob more than 99% of the people who post on this forum. I agree about a lot of things and disagree about a lot of things too. I still love the game and am not paid or sponsored by anyone. I have no political or financial influence on ESO whatsoever. So, it is easy to see what is going on. Just like in life we adapt regardless if we like it or not. Many Opinions FOR and AGAINST a video game or anything else in life is more driven by brainwashing by gaining an opinion by what someone else does or says. My view is my own and ESO has it faults but is a Great Game that I enjoy with friends and on my own.

    Happy New Year everyone!

This behind the scenes look of how Nefas was treated is VERY enlightening. I’m happy that he’s standing up for himself and cutting off support from a company that absolutely did not support him.

Why would anyone expect ZOS to treat Nefas well when 80% of his content is bashing/complaining? Good riddance.

Not sure it's a valuable input if you're not aware of his content in any capacity. And content is not just YouTube, it's the whole community building from the ground up, all the possible tools etc.

You can have your personal feelings sure but be real. His impact was huge if you've been around for some time at least.

Most of the impact I've seen is Nefas stirring the community into one rage after another over his own pet annoyances that he likes to blow way out of proportion relative to their actual effect on the average player.

There are some studies and indications that stress can cause reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus but there has not been anything conclusive as to why some people come down with the Shingles and others don't. I will say the Shingles can be pretty nasty and is worse the older you get. My wife has a partial vision loss from having a case that infected the optic nerve of her left eye. I also have an older friend that was hospitalized with a case. Another thing is Shingles can return at any time as reservoirs of the virus remain in the body. I can't say what triggered Nefas' case but given current knowledge stress would not be out of the question.
