I don't know how long this thread will stay up but this is a huge blow for the ESO community.

ESOU is shutting down.
(Sorry for posting the wrong link earlier. It's the correct one now.)

Elderscrolls University. The largest source of information and builds for ESO.
It was run by Nefas who is probably the largest content creator for ESO on youtube. (Skinnycheeks probably had more subscribers but focussed mostly on builds).

Soon you'll see dancing on the bones from "ESOFAM", because it's not important, as it doesn't affect them directly. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Didn't nefas quit a while ago? Is it for real real this time?

Well it's always too bad to lose a source of knowledge and builds, but also the link is just something about an alligator.

I think in the last 5 years I went on esou twice. Both times didn’t find what I was looking for and instead found it on Reddit/esohub. A general overview/comparison doesn’t really showcase much difference between what esou offered that esohub and other websites didn’t … other then nefas’s specific advertisement of his YouTube videos. And since he quit eso a while back I’d say shutting down makes sense as it would lead to outdated information if he’s not marinating the website.

Nefas did post a video today that seems to indicate an intent to actually shut esou down rather than just sundown it but its 45 minutes and I aint got time for that right now

It's always the same thing. They always pick and promote people with main character syndrome and then it ends with some drama. At least Nefas is leaving because he is fed up with the whole thing. Other stream team favorites have left for less illustrious reasons, like being accused of doxxing minors (in case mods want to squash this post, this is public information available in known outlets like massivelyop).

If he's no longer playing ESO, and no longer interested in it, paying to keep the website up and running is probably something he's also not interested in doing. People's interests change, and they move on.

If the people who used ESOU extensively want to keep the website around, maybe someone could offer to buy it from him and take over running it and keeping it updated?

ESOU was a cool idea but yeah, I never used it either. I once joined the discord and saw the toxicity (they literally had a channel for making fun of people?) and left.

what a bad look for that lady at the end calling out nefas.

To be fair, in the beginning she does say in a very polite and coaxing manner with a smile, 'we would appreciate no live streaming', and when Nefas disregards it and tries to go around it, while she is clearly repeating that she is being serious, and he ignores it, she then has to ask him to stop for the event to proceed. There's nothing humiliating about this, it might be embarrassing, but he was in the wrong (and he wasn't even sheepish or graceful about it afterwards). It's like you are walking in a park with a group and you step on the grass when you are told you're not supposed to, and then someone calls you out, so you have to step off and people might stare. It's just embarrassing but that was your mistake.

Agree to disagree that the original comment about no live streaming was "very polite." I have no problem if their policy is no live streaming; it's their event, they set the rules. But the tone and manner struck me as pretty condescending.

The description of the call by/with a community manager earlier in the video could set them up in a negative light, yes. And Nefas, in my very limited sample of his behavior, seems like he can come across as antagonistic himself at times. But the video clip, IMO, doesn't look great from the ZOS end.

I haven't watched it, but just going by what was said here-- if they said no livestreaming but he did anyway, how exactly was his manner any better than hers? It sounds like you're painting him as a victim in this, but it kind of sounds like he set himself up to be a victim by deliberately being disrespectful. You apparently think she was disrespectful toward him, yet you don't see him as bearing any personal responsibility in the matter even though he was disrespectful toward her first. Wow.

I mean ESO has been at the point that it doesn't need HUGE streamers to do much of anything to push the game. Sure when the game came out they had the best ones for or with SypherPk, King Richard, Lefty Lucy, Fengrush just to name a few but this day in age ESO has HUNDREDS of content creators for all types of stuff for PvE, PvP, Trials, Housing, RPing, Gold Farming and much much more since ESO is whatever you want ESO to be for yourself end game is truly whatever you want to to he and end game can switch for you as well one week it might be PvE and the next just killing it in the gold market or getting down on the drip game or just jumping online to hang out with friends 🧡 But if you want to truly grow as a content creator it's always best to move on to different things it's very rare with ESO that you find someone who 100% quit their 9-5 to truly go full time with ESO content especially now and who have achieved it.
