The event was extended 2 days and doesn't end until Thursday now.

I'm on PlayStation, it ends at 10 AM Eastern 😢

(We're dealing with multiple disconnects every day including heavily during trials. I've had a 6 week IR prog end and we never had a real shot with the disconnects, so many people's progs suspensed or ended. Yet we have no compensation or extension. Not even an emergency fix, we've had to wait 1.5 months)

Well. Got 3 out of 5.

Been grinding away for most of the event and I still didn't get the geyser page and one vvardenfell page.

The amount of hours I put into ESO the past two weeks trying to get these pages is a bit of a gut check for me.

I think it is time for a long break after this. ESO isn't fun anymore if this is how ZOS is going to treat a celebration event.

I can't believe I fell for it, too. I know they extended the event but i'm done now. Plenty of other games that reward me for my time rather than make me feel like dirt after staring at geysers for hours at a time.

Event ends in less than 8 hours and still only 3 of 5 pages on my main account/server ☹️

I hope the pages return for the console anniversary next year, this stinks. Sad little defeated party here at the Queen's Consort at 2 AM....

Same here, still missing Barbas. I’m PC NA so officially I have until Thursday morning but realistically it isn’t going to make a difference.

I didn't realize the extension was only for PC. That's another thing I have issue with. Why not extend it for everyone? What is it going to hurt?

I think they need to put these style pages on the crown store FREE for EVERYONE in light of the lockouts and the horrendous grind players have gone through. This event was just one huge issue after another and is leaving a lot of players with less than good feelings.

Just give us these style pages. What would it hurt?

Just give us these style pages. What would it hurt?

There are some very gracious folks out there with all 5 style pages who would have no problem with it.

There would also be a large number of FURIOUS players who did the Grind From Hell only to have the items immediately given away for free to all players. And I wouldn't blame 'em.

I think the best we can reasonably hope for is to see them return, maybe later in the year and hopefully easier to get.

This supergrind for birthday gifts never should have made it past PTS. But reverting it now would be a PR trainwreck.

There are also players that are FURIOUS that those locked out are getting all the style pages for free when in reality they probably wouldn't have gotten them all if they hadn't been locked out. But that wasn't a good reason not to compensate them, just like it's not a good reason not to make things right with everyone else for the very negative experience this grind has caused.

I grinded for all of them and have no problem if ZOS would make it easier for the last few days for other players to get them. One of my guildies did more that 1000 geysers and is still searching for that style page.

Really hope they won't do this again with the limited time bound style pages with a super low drop rate. 💀

At least those people had the choice to log in and grind (or NOT grind) and weren't completely locked out of the game for 1/2 of the biggest event in ESO's history and beyond.

If ZOS turns around and gives all of these pages to everyone for free at the end of this event, I'll eat my laptop.

I have no doubt they believe it would be even more harmful if they did it. (Not to mention they've got some other things on their plate right now).

I'm just looking for a solution that they *will* consider so that people who dedicated insane amounts of time trying to get these can eventually succeed.

Just to recap: I wish they hadn't done this grind for this event of all things. I hope they'll provide an alternate way to get them in the future. I see no chance of it happening immediately, and I understand why.

if zos was looking for activity metrics, it might show more activity during the event, but as soon as the event ends it might drop off significantly for at least a few weeks up until at least gold road is out

especially for those who have been grinding every day and havent gotten the drops, im glad i got all the pages done within 4 days of the event starting, but was prepared for it to be worse (and reading here it definitely seems it certainly has for some people)

since the overall anniversary celebration is a year long, its likely they will have these styles return for the next years anniversary (as that will likely be the "final wrap up event" to the year long celebration), but i feel bad for those who are going to have to wait another year to get them

Hopefully, ZOS will handle style pages differently in the future and not move to having more drops account-bound and hopefully these style pages will return.

What I don’t understand, and what it seems to me many participating players do not either, is why the need to collect them all? One player told me they definitely wanted all of them and had a character in mind for using each, but many expressed that they would likely never use them and yet were grinding away, maybe at a point of sunk cost fallacy.

Why would you grind for rare drops to the point of making yourself miserable and not enjoying the event? The purple boxes have been rewarding to collect, or one could play however one wished and just enjoy the extra XP. If you really love all five styles then I can understand a bit, but this is not the general impression I’m getting.

So, while I agree that the style pages should have been handled differently, and that is a ZOS issue, it seems to me that how players respond to it is a player issue. I am not criticizing, I am just baffled.

...why the need to collect them all?

Many players are completionists and would like the complete set for that reason. Many players would like the complete set as a token of having participated in the 10 year anniversary event. Many players would like the complete set to display on their characters.

I personally just wanted the sword and 3 staves to display on my characters, but I was unlucky enough to get the helmet instead of the staff from the world bosses. If I had gotten the staff instead I would have stopped and not tried for the helmet that I never intended to display.

These items are cosmetic and offer no advantage over any other player. They should be given free to everyone in the crown store. That would help mend some of the bad feelings many players have over how bad this milestone anniversary was damaged.

While I don't agree with or like how this went down, I do have to agree with people who would be angry if it was given away now. I don't have them all and essentially gave up. Some other compromise at this point would be nice, but I don't know what it would be. I'd feel a little guilty if I just got them after opting out at the end.

Although individuals like yourself who tried the whole time it does still feel like something should be done. I don't know I'm so tired of this whole thing.

Would be nice to know if we have another opportunity later or some way to unlock through an achievement or quest or just buy it with gold or tickets. That's what I usually do for pve events honestly. I don't like to grind so I wait for later or buy it. I sell pvp stuff for those who don't like pvp to get rewards..seems reasonable to have those options.

The biggest reason that I think these should be given to everyone now is how incredily horrible this grind was and for what? Today will be my 11th day and almost 600 boss kills so far to try for the last staff I don't have.

It's not like these are items that grant the player a great advantage which would be more appropriate to have them be rare. They are cosmetic and part of the 10 year anniversary event. WHY in the world were they made so incredibly rare that players that really wanted them have to grind for days and hours on end and still not even get them!?

This has really tarnished how a lot of players now feel about this game and giving these style pages to us is a much needed gesture to repair some of the damage done.

Also, if I were a new player considering trying this game and I read all the feedback about this... I wouldn't.

I can only speak for myself but...

I intended to only seriously grind for the staffs. I was aware ahead of time these would all be rare (though I underestimated just how rare) so I made a plan to only grind the staves for a long time. Unfortunately for me, the last item to drop was the staff. If the staff had dropped first from the world boss, rather than the Barbas helm, I would not have continued grinding as long as I did. I had plans at the time to use all the staffs.

But the other reason I really wanted the staff is because the Elder Scrolls Franchise has been a big part of my life. I share a birthday (not the same year) with it! I have been playing some game in the franchise for the majority of my life. It has helped me get through some truly difficult times by giving me a fun experience to take my mind off things. I would never get a brand tattoo, but if I did, it would easily be something from the Elder Scrolls. I have actually discussed this with friends that have tattoos! I own a ring of Mara! The Elder Scrolls Franchise as a whole means as much to me as a video game reasonably can. I wouldn't name my kid after it or anything. But, I'd be lying if I didn't say that it hasn't been a go-to comfort for a long, long time.

So, when the 10 year anniversary came along, I was legitimately so happy for it. Even though I have technically only been seriously playing ESO 9 years since I'm on console. So I really wanted to at least give some effort into collecting all of the things the 10 year anniversary had to offer. I ended up ruining the entire thing for myself. But I know once I get over the salt a long time from now, I'll be glad I made the effort and have everything the 10 year anniversary has to offer. Just like I got mad at the VMA weapon fiasco but am glad I got my perfected staffs back.

WHY in the world were they made so incredibly rare that players that really wanted them have to grind for days and hours on end and still not even get them!?

If they weren’t purely cosmetic that would be much much worse as then every player would HAVE to obtain it or be at a disadvantage. That is one of the large reasons I stopped playing SWTOR, along with the advancing level cap and bound-to-character nonsense, endgame gear was VERY RNG dependent. :persevere:

I don’t know why ZOS put TWO items behind the same grind, as that added additional RNG for those who wanted just one of the items, as both you and @spartaxoxo mention with the staff, and WBs are a much worse grind IMHO as the incursions at least are active only one at a time and which one is indicated on the map. I would probably have worse feelings about it myself if an item I’d really wanted had been behind WB RNG this event.

Some aspects ZOS has made much more player-friendly with transmutation and curated drops — I’m much happier working TOWARD something with the possible good fortune of getting it sooner than just endlessly rolling dice. Alas, other things are very much RNG and even RNG within RNG in the case of some antiquity leads.

@spartaxoxo thank you too for the perspective!

Also, if I were a new player considering trying this game and I read all the feedback about this... I wouldn't.

Hey, I'm thinking about trying ESO, do you recommend it?
Oh HELL NO. They put limited time cosmetics into a horrible grind, I spent 60 hours getting them only for the company to give them to all of the millions of players absolutely free 5 minutes later.

That's pretty rough word of mouth as well.

With the immense amount of enjoyment I've gotten from ESO over the past 10 years (longest I've played any game), I wouldn't let one bad decision on cosmetic drop rates turn me into someone trying to discourage new people from playing. I feel the good far outweighs the bad or I wouldn't punish myself by sticking around.

I'd rather give reasonable feedback that may get these in people's hands at a future date without alienating a lot of people who successfully grinded the ones they wanted...and hopefully they'll keep this feedback in mind for the future. <3

Dont know why anyone would expect ZOS to address this issue. The outcry against AWA was far more numerous and louder, and yet that went basically ignored as well.

So, this said, I am not expecting a reply. However, in this case no reply is needed. Just fix it.

I am addressing this not to ZOS, but to forum mods that I know are reading this. I understand that you have as much power over this as we do, which is to say none, and again a reply is not necessary. I just have a request.

I ask that you put the word to those who may be able to do something, that players, especially the long term ones who have been supporting this game for years, are very unhappy with the way these style pages are to be collected.

Perhaps you can remind them that this is not just a celebration for ten years of ESO, but for the players as well. We all did this 10 years together, through good times, through bad times, through [snip]?!? times, and this is an anniversary that belongs to all of us together.

The way players are being treated, having to grind away for something that they know they may not even get, and can not obtain by any other method, does not put them in a celebratory mood. In fact it just makes them angry and resentful.

Its probably too late for consoles, and Im sorry about that, but its not too late to fix it on PC. All that needs to be done is for the next 48 hours, just raise up the drop rate. This shouldnt cause anyone to be upset, because honestly no one would really know.

Did the chance of a style page go up, or was it just rng and good luck? No one can say for certain.

But if theyre going to do something, it better be done quick. This is not right, the way these people are being treated on an anniversary that they share as well. Such a small gesture, such as a sizeable increase in drop rates, would go a long way in making it right.

i dont think that they are able to adjust drop rates on the fly, it would require a maintenance (meaning downtime), which if it didnt happen on monday, likely wont happen at all as the event ends in less than 48 hours (~39 more hours as of right now)

and not to mention that the event is still even ongoing for PC, the event ended for console servers this morning

whats happened, is said and done, its what they do in the future to make up for it will be what counts

You know there would be a huge outcry from those who did the grind to get them! I think the best that ZOS could do now is to make them available again by another means, as they really should have done in the first place, for tickets or via a quest after zone completion, etc. Anyway, I hope that all those who want the style pages are able to get them sooner than later.

And I wish that people in general (thinking of other threads here) would not value things based on others not having them nor adopt an attitude that everyone should “suffer” because they had to. :pensive:

While it's very unlikely that they will be offered for free or that there will be any type or response as at this stage as it is safer to leave it lay until the event closes. They already know who's unhappy and might not want to risk a backlash from those who spent the time getting the styles right now.

Hopefully they will come up with some discussion to address the concerns of those who didn't get the drops in the future so at least the sadness can be relieved. It would be best for overall morale if there is still a way to get them in the future.

Maybe they can offer them for tickets in a later event such as New Life where there can often be an abundance of extra tickets available. Or some reduced crown price special for ESO plus members.
