ZOS, Please Respond to the very low Style Page Drop Rates

There are multiple threads with multiple posts from players that have spent days trying to get these style pages, and many still not getting them. These style pages are unique and are only available during the anniversary event, and are important to many.

The extremely low drop rates are creating a lot of stress and bad feelings among the player base, and are not what we should be dealing with during a milestone anniversary celebration.

PLEASE communicate with us about this issue and consider greatly increasing the drop rates.

I actually enjoy the grind. It makes getting the item feel valuable like you earned it.

That is fine but many don't feel that way. Many also don't have the option to spend hours day after day grinding for these either.

For most this is very stressful and disappointing because of the uniqueness of the pages and the significance of them being part of a momentous anniversary.

It would be very helpful to have some communication about this issue.

They would feel much more valuable to me if they took effort or skill rather than simple RNG. Putting participation prizes behind low drop chances doesn't make sense to me at all.

They warned us ahead of time they'd be pretty rare. So sadly, I think this is the intended experience

They actually didn't, though. They only said the Trueflame page would be "extremely" rare - and that's the one that surprised me with how soon it dropped. The others they just said "a chance." And since the gold coffers during Jester's also had "a chance" to contain a new style page, but literally every single gold box I opened on multiple accounts every day had a new style page, that "chance" was very, very high. There was no way to know what "a chance" meant here or that it would be so much lower.

They only updated the chances for these pages to "a small chance" a week into the event, after everyone had already noticed the very low drop rates.

I agree with @virtus753 reply above. And changing the descriptions halfway into the event only makes it more confusing.

Also, there has been a lot of negative feedback that they may not have anticipated.

Requesting some communication is not unreasonable.

I really hope we hear from someone soon about why these drops rates are so low and especially why the description changed halfway through the event.

I have to say, I hate grinding but wanted this Staff of Worms page. I've been at it 10 days, have done about 100 dolmens (I'm tracking on paper). I know the item is rare and all. I'd have been happy and considered it rare if I'd gotten it 5 days ago at 50 dolmens. I'm not a grinder, so I really hate this. I do want the staff of worms, but there's also no guarantee that I'll get it. I don't like this. This is a reward for people who have all the time in the world to just grind away every day for hours. Not all of us are able to do that.

as far as i was aware these drop rates were always intended to be low, and thats the idea i got from hearing people test this during the U41 PTS 2 months ago

i had actually initially imagined the fishing one would be much worse than the others but seemed it was the opposite case lol

It doesn't. But this was complained about on the PTS too. They want it this way. They made that clear with the update.

They stated on PTS that the chance was supposed to be extremely small for fishing and a chance for the rest. People noted it was also extremely small for the others. They updated the description now in live. They won't change anything and that update is our communication, unfortunately.

Agreed. This cannot be emphasized enough, especially in relation to future limited time promotions like this over the next fifteen months in the name of ESO’s anniversary.

If it was clear right from the start the description wouldn't have changed halfway through the event.

Players are justified in asking for an official statement on this, especially in light of the description change.

I hope they never do things like this again and that next year it's easier to get. I don't have a single ray of hope for this year. At this point, I'm even losing hope that I'll even get Sunna'rah despite grinding it for a long time now.

Meanwhile everyone who couldn’t log in for a few days is being handed them all for free!

I have no problem with this, but a better drop rate for the rest of us wouldn’t hurt!

If a lover forces the beloved to love him by force, it is not love... it is slavery. And where there is slavery there is no affection. Likewise, if ZOS forces players to assiduously attend the event by leveraging FOMO, it is not an attendance dictated by passion, but by slavery. And where there is slavery there is no affection.

I just hope that eventually this evolves into an established pity system for such drops. I don't mind low rates, but there definitely should be mechanisms to guarantee you a drop after certain amount of time or effort.

It's insane that some people have to do hundreds of dolmens and geysers without a prospect of getting a drop whatsoevere. Admittedly, I can see it as part of a 10 year anniversary celebration, because such atrocious ways of getting items are exactly way back from grindy MMOs of 2000x /s

They are being given all 5 for free?!

What about those of us who haven't gotten to play for longer than that because we spent all our time farming for pages that aren't dropping instead of playing how we'd like?!

The very least they could do is increase these drop rates a LOT for everyone now.

I wish this game handled these sort of items like FFXIV. That game also has various grinds, but they're not as ridiculously RNG as ESO's. Cosmetics, gear, etcetera, all feel accomplish-able because even the worst grinds can be broken down into reasonable parts over a set period of time (say, one hour a day for two weeks to get something). It's a marathon, not a sprint. I am not in high school anymore, I am nearing my 40s, I simply do not have the time to grind items based on RNG anymore.

This anniversary has made me reassess my relationship with ESO. As it stands, I will be putting Gold Road on the back-burner for Dawntrail given I don't feel ESO respects my time.

I am very happy for the people who got locked out of their accounts getting the style pages for free. But it still stings, because I've spent a whole week trying to get these things for only 2 out of 5. Had I just logged into the PTS for a second, I could've spared myself this. Just feels bad, man.

I have played this game practically every single day for the past 10 years. And I don't think I have ever experienced anything in game that has left me with a more bitter taste in my mouth that this. Who would have guessed that the big 10-year Anniversary, which I thought would be fun and generous, would be the opposite. The stingiest, most miserable slog ZOS have ever introduced.

I too am shocked at this. This should be a time of celebration not grinding.

These pages are unique and should be more easily obtainable by those that are participating in the anniversary event.

From the start of this event I took the mindset of doing the things I wanted to do first then setting to the grind on any additional free time. Perhaps I have more free time than some or most but i work full time so still only a few hours a day outside the weekend.

Have done my 18 Characters writs daily (for best chance at rewards and future gold sales) Have done all my guild trial nights as planned and have even hopped into some dungeons to help folks out along the way. Finally had the last style drop last night and am relieved and can now just continue on doing what I am doing for the last week of the event.

My worst grind was the geyser grind and it was 10+ hours over 4 days but in that time as i was in mostly full Zone groups it seemed to drop for someone every 5 or 6 geysers so never really seemed hopeless.

I am sure there are some rare cases of just terrible luck but I take the random huge numbers people are throwing around with a grain of salt. Most of the people in my guilds while having had some serious grinds themselves haven't hit all these 200+ x numbers being mentioned.

Good luck to all those still grinding hopefully the RNG falls on your side soon.

I am glad for you. But I have been keeping a VERY precise count. It is not thrown around at all. There has only been a small number of times that I failed to receive loot, and I kept track of each and every one. When I get a pile of them before I open them, I add them the number of boxes plus the number of boss kills that resulted in no loot to a running tally I have on the forum. This character I am doing this on does not get boxes any other way than the method I am farming, so I know for a 100% fact exactly how many times I have killed a boss is equal to the number of boxes (aside from a very few times I missed out).

I am currently at boss kill 256 + whatever amount I managed to kill before work. I will kill some more after work and then add that total. The boxes are just sitting unopened waiting for me to resume.

i do still feel bad for those who are still grinding for these pages

most people i know always call me extremely lucky, and it kind of reflects on that when it took me ~20 hours to get all of the pages with 2 of the 5 (vvardenfell WB ones) taking ~17 hours of that

most of the other ones were relatively painless for me (13 total dolmens, ~70 fish, ~1.5-2 hours of farming geysers, then getting it on 3rd geyser a few days later)
