i think i currently use something like 30 different addons, though most are small mainly info bonuses that i feel the game does not tell you very much about

some are even simpler as in "keeps the xp bar enabled at all times" because theres no game option to prevent it from fading out

one popular addon that i dont use is probably a minimap, never really felt the need for it though i could understand why people use it lol

If by the "xp bar" you mean your health bar, the base game does allow you to set it to be visible at all times, stam and mag bar too, it's first thing I do on new characters.

I said yes but I use very few and none that add anything to the UI I see whilst playing. 🙂

the base game one doesnt show the actual numbers of how much you need to level lol, its just a plain bar lol

one of the other things this addon does is add actual numbers instead of leaving it an ambiguous bar

you can always find it in the character sheet
    8sjxcniiytgv.jpg

i know, but i dont want to have to open my character sheet for something i can just glance at on the UI, while in combat or whenever i feel like it lol

its one of the other reasons why i use the infopanel addon, so i can see stuff like my current gold, AP, tel var, vouchers, and number of other things without needing to open my inventory/currency tab

Absolutely. Over 80 of them. Only QOL, housing, and UI, nothing for combat. I don't use TTC, MM, anything that lights up resource nodes, anything that does screenshot stuff, and the only "automate" one I use is LWC, and that only during Jubilee because I craft on about 10 characters on 3 accounts both PC megaservers.

TTC, any sort of set cooldown tracking, Lazy Writ Crafter, and Inventory Insight are really the "must haves" imo. Combat Metrics is also a must have if you're looking to improve or really dive into theory crafting.

Outside of that, I highly recommend Perfect Pixel, especially if you have a larger/higher rez display. It basically just allows all the inventory screens/menus to use the full height of your display instead of wasting a ton of real estate. It's shocking how cramped and cluttered the menus look without it after using it for so long.

For PvP, Better Scoreboard and PvP Meter are great QoL additions, with the former giving BG scoreboards more info and allowing you to queue into both Group and Solo simultaneously, and the latter allowing you to track your kills/assists in a BG as well as giving a small sound whenever you score a killing blow.

Auto Release in BGs is also pretty great - instantly presses the "release" button as soon as you die so that you never miss a respawn wave.

Yes, but on a limited basis for curiosity and QoL.

Quality of Life to automate tedious functions: Auto-Recharging of Weapons; Lazy Writ Crafting.

Combat Metics. I use this for personal reasons, I just like to see how much I'm healing/dpsing. I never use this information to comment on others or remove people from any dungeons. It's solely for my personal improvement.

I think I used to use a few others, like "port to friends" as many of my friends have multiple homes, and skyshard locations. But since returning I haven't bothered getting those again. I think I more enjoy finding what skyshards I can on my own, to increase my sense of wonder and adventure. Having them all revealed on my map made them feel more like a chore than a surprise.

My absolute must-haves are ScreenshotHelper, Unlimited Camera Zoom, and LovelyEmotes.

I don't think all addons are cheating, and ZOS has also changed the API to block the cheaty ones (like that one that used to tell you when stealthed people targeted you with a snipe or crystal frags in PvP). Yes, some players crutch on addons, but a lot of your good PC players will still be pretty good even if you took away their addons. I can't tell you the number of times I've been halfway through a trial before figuring out that my alerts weren't working because I was running an alt character and didn't have the addons turned on... and it didn't stop me from tanking the boss properly because I know what the animation cues are.

I do realize that there are some console people who think that any addon is cheaty though. I prefer to see it as a different game - comparing a PC Unchained run to a console Unchained is like comparing apples and oranges because there are different things going on in terms of addons, controls, UI, etc. That's why I don't think "World's first!" should be a thing so much as "World's First PC!" and "World's First Console!"
It's also the fact that one PC, if you run (or trade, or whatever) with other people, they likely have the addons. That means you're putting yourself at a disadvantage if you aren't. Also, a lot of the raid addons also help new players who haven't seen the mechanics yet and give them alerts for things - I've seen people who refuse to get addons (which is fine if you don't want to), but then they continue blowing people up on the twins because they can't see the circle under their feet that they're converting. The addon will help to alert you of these things to help new players learn.

Still, you will take my screenshot addons from my cold dead hands. I've figured out how to get some incredible shots with the limitations this system has, and it's one of my favorite things to do in this game.

Just the one - Immersive UI so I can auto-hide the cross-hairs and reduce the amount of stuff visible on the screen.

I personally do not like mods that high-light resources in game, that's a step too far, you should need to actually look for these things IMO.

I don't think all addons are cheating,

My answer to people who think all addons are cheating is always RandomMount. It changes your mount and pet randomly (from a pre-determined selection) when you change areas.

At best it's a pointless novelty, and if you're one of the people who think some mounts are fundamentally better because their animations are estimated to be 0.2s faster or whatever then it actually puts you at a disadvantage, because there's no guarentee you'll have the right mount when you need it.

(And in spite of calling it a pointless novelty it's one of the addons I don't like playing without, because it's fun to see what I get each time. Although now the base game has a limited version of the same function for mounts, but I think it doesn't work for pets.)

My answer to them would be the add-on "Khajiit Speak"...

This one does not think speaking like a Khajiit is considered cheating, no? Then again, khajiiti speech is very powerful ;)

It's a fun little add-on that makes playing a Khajiit a bit more immersive. It's not perfect, but certainly fun.

I have great respect for console players as I just couldn't play without them.

I use tons of add-ons, but as someone who primarily plays support, I would quit if I ever lost Dressing Room, and a couple of other inventory add-ons. Many I could do without, but I have pages and pages of setups for each support character. I use the Armory too but have many sub setups off of the Armory builds.

I'm the type of person who, no matter how careful I try to be when making gear, find that I always miss one piece or enchant or something requiring me to go back to the Guild house to fix what I missed. I really need all those setups saved. :)

Addons are what make me stay in ESO. Without them, I would leave, like I did when I was a new player and tried the game the first time: I gave it a 2nd try only because friends told me about the addons and convinced me that it's better with them.

I use about 30 Addons, mostly for functionalities that should be in the game (Minimap, Bufftracking, Loadouts, DPSmeter, other ways to show Red Green and Blue, Trade Centre, Skillpointfinder, Craftstore, more Map-Pins etc.)
They are not as essential as Addons in other mmorpgs, but I still wouldnt play this game without them. I like customizing my gaming experience.

I think I went OTT with the number of add-on's I have now installed that sometimes my screen is just full of stuff.

I'd struggle to play without them now though.

So every now and again I will unsummon my pets, my non-combat pet and my companion, turn off the UI and just ride around on my mount for a while enjoying the scenery and taking screenshots. Some of the landscapes really are very beautiful.

I think the only addon I'd struggle to play without is the mini map (which is actually a base game feature, the addon just unhides the map ZOS built). I have no sense of direction, especially in games and the compass doesn't really help (I usually play with it off) so without a mini map I have to stop every few seconds to check I'm going in the right direction. Even with it I sometimes start going in the wrong direction and have to turn around. I can and have played games without a mini map, but given the choice I'd always have it there.

Also before Tamriel Trade Centre I rarely bought anything from guild stores because it wasn't worth the hassle. Virtual shopping isn't fun for me, if I have to waste my time going around multiple traders hoping to find the item/s I want by pure chance, and risk paying several times what it's worth I'd rather just not bother. I don't need the addon to use the website to search, but I need some people to be using the addon to gather data so it seems reasonable to contribute.

I could play without all the ones that make the UI less cluttered and more convenient, but I'd miss them. Especially World Map Wayshrines Controller which lets me hide map markers I don't need (like houses I don't own and dungeons) so I can find the ones I need, and Decluttered Scrying Leads which makes it easier to keep track of the ones with a time limit.

Also Azurah which lets me move bits of the default UI out the way, like the huge announcements when you complete an achievement or start a quest or something, I have all that as much smaller text just above my chat box so it doesn't block what I'm doing. Before then more than one quest ending was ruined because the game decided I'd rather see an announcement that I did the thing I was just doing than the actual culmination of the quest.

(I have 19 addons installed and of course I like using all of them, otherwise I'd uninstall them, but those are the ones that really stand out to me when I'm playing without addons.)

No, they completely change the ESO experience into a spreadsheet/UI clutter instead of a game.

Also, I do consider some add-ons cheats, as they offer a clear advantage over other players who are not using add-ons. Like the ones that show resource nodes, treasure chests, thieves troves, and other locations. The ones that auto-repair/autocharge weapons and such. And many more. which are a clear advantage over other players without add-ons. I also consider some add-ons forms of botting, like the crafting writ add-ons. And feel ZOS should not allow that, as they are basically removing crafting as a specific part of the game for players to enjoy/specialize in. They would never allow the same automation add-ons for dungeons/trials/PvP/arena's, but somehow they allow it in this one specific part of the game.

In my opinion, which most players disagree with, ZOS should remove ALL add-ons from the game completely. At the very least ZOS should remove all add-ons that grant advantages over other players(no matter how small), and all add-ons from PvP completely.

PS: It's ok to disagree with me! :)
PPS: I'm not against adding some basic add-on functionality to the base game, as that would be a level playing field for everyone still.

You are free to use whatever addons you like, not my problem if you decide not to and beeing disadvantaged over other players in your opinion.

Addons just make the whole game experience much more comfortable and fun to play. Why would you spend your lifetime on useless, timeconsuming tasks like repairing your gear, doing your crafting dailies, fillet whole stacks of fishes fish by fish (ok that got added to the game lately finally), looking for hours trough guild stores to find prices for an item you want to sell and so on? If youre on PC and not using addons, your basically denying functions which make the game a lot more fun to play and less time consuming with the same outcome.

I dont understand. I never will. Its just dumb if you ask me. But its your decision. If ZOS would ever remove addons, which i dont think will ever be the case, i will stop playing the game and probably 80% of the player base would too.

I also think some of the add-ons are a little bit cheat-ish. "Writworthy" is one for sure, and perhaps "map pins" and "harvest map" but I do still use them as for me, I would rather spend my time questing than doing crafting, but that is just my experience and for others, some genuinely like crafting and harvesting. Each to their own.
