Well, I wouldn't say I hate the idea. But really, I don't have any interest in it, so if it lands I just won't use it.

Having zero ability introductions since Summerset has actually ruined the game for me.

ESO stands out among other MMOs because of it’s combat system, that needs to be capitalized on.

It's been a long time since Summerset and ESO is still going strong without Spellcrafting.

only 1% or less of items will be what you must get. skill wise you either run the same skills as meta for your class or you suck. so spell crafting would need to be better than current meta to be used.
EA sets are not meta and not needed or desired except for collecting.

I’m sure people said the same thing about tanking with a Warlock in World of Warcraft.

Yet Season of Discovery, a watered down version of Spellcrafting, is one of the most popular additions to the game that ever existed.

I can only imagine what Spellcrafting would look like to ESO.

    I'd rather not.

It's be a balance nightmare AND mandatory for certain classes and roles, plus everyone would just be using the same mathematically superior setups.

    Waste of resources.

How is that any different than current?

Right now you run 5 Arcanist DDs, a Sorc MK/Spaulder, a DK ZenKosh, a Necro EC, a Warden SPC Pillager, Nightblade RoJo, and either one or two DK tanks with the first wearing Pearl PA, the other with Turning Tide and Saxheel.

You can mix and match what class people are on, but you end up with the same roster in a fully optimal group.

The idea that meta chasing would be what held back a feature like this is asinine, considering that it already exists deep-rooted in the game with set chasing and optimal classes for activities.

If anything, more skills would open up options, rather than close people into a clear definitive meta like what we have now.

No, you're deluded on the illusion of choice. Wow's talent system has the same problem. There's cookie cutter builds and you will be expected to use them. It's a great idea in a single player game, and I'm sure the soloers want it, but I just can't agree.

I also don't agree that we need new skills.

    For the anniversary:

--skill lines: unarmed, polearms, crossbows added to Bow skill line with their respective options (just like Dual wield: hammer, dagger, sword and axe)

--more perks in the Craft tree (if interested, please check here https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/594079/idea-craft-cp-sub-tree-ideas-constant-wip#latest)

--Bandaari merchants in Cyro OR Elsweyr (or somewhere) to cook feasts - a meta-quest (i.e. requiring green and blue quality meals) on weekends

All I can say i'd like to see is new character models, maybe finally have argonians looking like their trailer and loading screen counterparts.

Spellcrafting would likely just be 3 meta spells and the rest barely touched, sure it would be a fun gimmick but it wouldn't be any more than that, or give any longevity to the game unless they balanced it perfectly

Really tired of seeing people shoot down ideas that would really make this game more fleshed out and fun first opportunity they get. Spell crafting even just as a cosmetic system would be fantastic and liven up what year by year becomes increasingly stale content. Combat lags so far behind everything else because risks aren't taken with it. Then people wonder why nothing ever changes and just stays the same. We get fantastic new zones, dungeons and stories. The enemies we fight get cooler mechanics, spells and animations, and what do we get? The same builds we've had for years. Unchanged.

Please no. The changes that were made to character models in WoW was why I finally left and haven't been back. I don't want to see the characters I've spent so much time with changed into something unrecognizable!

Just consider what they did to the jabs and flurry skills.... I have a bad feeling about what could happen to my girls....

Personally I'm not interested in spell crafting. I think it'd be cool to get a new weapon line like polearms or unarmed or 1H sword and other hand tome.

I also keep wishing for a huge overhaul to PVP but I won't hold my breath.

Whatever it is, I hope it's good and functional.

I don't think spell crafting is likely. But if it does come then what I would like to see it extended into full skill crafting.

Along with that separate pvp combat from pve effects so the can be balanced separately.

Because if we are going to hope for something big like this we should shoot for the moon.

It's never going to happen. Ther are to many variables for it. You would essentially be locked down Alchemy where they can control everything and you get like the base Fire, Ice, Poison, Lighting, and only able to combine with certain things, making all the same spells.

It would just be another basic skill line. I guess the difference they could do though would be have like 4 morphs of each skill. Where you can change the base spell type to change the base type of damage, but then everything would be poison because it's always the most powerful affect in any game really. Then everyone would be complaing out Spellcrafting poison is to strong blah blah.

Just accept it won't happen. Just like PvP at this point will never get love cause it's a PvP mini game added onto a PvE game.

You’re entitled to your negativity, but don’t tell me what I should or shouldn’t expect.

Spellcrafting was advertised as a feature that lead to my initial purchase of the game, and one day it very well could make it’s way to the game.

There’s quite literally no better time than next year.

While spell crafting would be a nice, unique addition to the game for the tenth anniversary of Elder Scrolls Online, I do not believe that we will be seeing it next year.

174 characters and counting over 13 accounts.

120 writ certified. 73 at CP rank.

It would be a good gift for peaceful professions: spells for fishing, for theft, tactical reconnaissance on the battlefield, talking (sympathy spell), research, and possibly new professions that can be added to the game. In order not to break the stable combat system, combat spells are not needed

as I've seen people pointing out, the ''we're crafting something special this year'' I think is a huge hint. ''Crafting'' would normally be a weird word choice here. Something normal would be something like ''whipping up'' instead.

I really hope so, this would redeem a huge chunk of ESO for me

I also find it interesting that there are three separate colors of the fire, one character has red, another has purple…

It’s as though your character is attempting to “craft” a flame.

Spell crafting and new weapon types have been requested ad infinitum to help expand ESO's combat which for many has grown a little samey and stale, it would be great just to get one of the two which looks to be the case from this hint. Here's hoping whatever it is, it's done well.
