Maintenance for the week of January 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – January 6
• NA megaservers for maintenance – January 8, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – January 8, 9:00 UTC (4:00AM EST) - 13:00 UTC (8:00AM EST)

So whatever happened to that Q&A?

How do you guys think a live AMA would work? It would be flooded with trolls.

Agreed. However, an AMA, with prominent content creators and community subject matter experts (Nefas, SkinnyCheeks, Code, et al) being the ones to ask the questions, would be a lot more informative and still avoid the canned, scripted appearance that an FAQ, or a self hosted/answered Q&A is going to have. I'm not holding my breath, though

Then everyone else would claim that ZOS only cares about the opinions of streamers, and to be honest that would be a valid criticism if the questioners were determined by YT subs. I saw many a complaint about content creators at the start of the pts cycle being catered to.

And this is a problem because…? It’s a LOT better than what we have

One question I'd like to see addressed is how the skill gap has been closed and accessibility improved for the "low end" players.
Currently, to be truly effective in ESO’s combat, you need to learn to manipulate something that is known as “weaving,” which refers to the act of squeezing multiple actions into the global cooldown window. Doing so drastically increases your agency and output, and it is a staple of the game that we’ve come to embrace, as it helps our combat feel different and exciting to participate in once you learn the ins and outs. However, the impact of weaving leads to a massive gap in performance where players who cannot interact with it as effectively are left miles behind those who can. While this is partially unavoidable and an important part of what makes the mastery of ESO or any activity utilizing a similar system particularly satisfying, we want to do what we can to shorten that delta. The closer the gap between the low and high end, the easier it is to create content that can accommodate a wider audience, while making more natural progression points for those looking to improve. To this end, we’ve started to look at the impact that one of the most common and important forms of weaving has in ESO: Light and Heavy Attack weaving.

Did any of the floor level players notice an improvement in weavability on the PTS? And do you feel closer to the ceiling because of it? Did you low tier players notice that vet trials and vet hard mode dungeons were easier to complete with your nerfed damage because of the 10% reduction in boss health? And did full health world bosses seem more accessible and satisfying to battle?

They also need to address the nerf to puncturing sweeps. That was a skill for low end players because you didnt need to light weave with that spammable to be effective. They pulled the rug out on lower skill players who rely on that skill to be effective and brought them down lower thus widening the gap between competitive players and casual players

We are now coming up on the end of August. Still no hint as to the whereabouts of the promised Q&A. For something meant to help address the concern regarding U35, this has definitely missed the mark by being radio silent. @ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_GinaBruno

Just let it go at this point. It's extremely unlikely that it will be helpful or be a stepping off point for sustained future dialogue. The small number of people interested in actual dialogue is vastly outnumbered by those who just want to grind their personal axes with them, be it harder overland, flying mounts, what have you. Anything they say can and will be used against them, so it's a no win situation for them.

The best thing to happen would be for them to internalize the missteps in this update and do better. What they do will speak louder than anything they could say, so wait and see.

Can you link to any evidence that ZOS feels any "missteps" were made? As far as we know, they are quite happy with their update.

And to your second point: yes, actions speak louder than words. But saying you will do one thing and then failing to deliver is no less impactful upon how perceptions are created.

    @ZOS_Kevin please choose one:

    1) you already did it but we missed it
    2) you are still working on it
    3) you've decided it's best to not do it
    4) what are you talking about?

    many thanks

I did caveat the statement you quote with "the best thing to happen", which is an attempt to be optimistic about the best possible outcome at this point and the futility of a Q&A. I'm well aware of their failure to deliver on promises and the tone & quality of their communications to date, or lack thereof.

my guess is that they are waiting for the console release of U35 before putting out the Q&A to basically give everyone a chance to see it live before they try to respond about "why" for the changes

They don't usually wait for a console release of a patch to put out a Q&A. They didn't with AWA.

It's a problem because having a YouTube channel doesn't make anyone more important or knowledgeable. The moment you start giving them special status among players is the moment you really start ticking people off.

I personally don't care who asks what questions. I don't even care if there is a Q&A because the reasons for changes make very little difference to me. What matters is how the game plays.

Now I would like at least some level of a road map but I wouldn't expect that, and even if they did do one, it probably wouldn't be until after the first post update patch. We shall see.

It is possible that explaining how U35 was necessary and improved accessibility required a level of mental gymnastics that cannot be achieved by any human.
