This happened for the kilt, and I didn't see anyone petition to change that drop after they got it. I'm sure when everyone who wants it, gets it, this thread will die like the others

This could not be further from the truth. Yes, threads will die out because people stop talking about the subject eventually, but calls for changes persisted and only ceased when changes to the drop were made. Feel free to do some searching and look - it's what happened.

I don't get why ZOS did this to us again. It places a significant burden on dedicated players and fosters toxicity, when socialization and collaboration should be the goal.

I'm not even going to bother with it until everything has settled down. It really burns me out. I'll just limp on with whatever sets I have now, I guess.

Honestly I have my ring, and I'm still complaining because of how bad the design was.
I actually personally got it on the first safebox I was able to pick, and it took me a lot shorter (maybe an hour and a half) than I expected...
but I still think I need to sound off how badly this was designed.
Because I know I just got extremely lucky, and it could have taken me like 9 hours or more, I could have not gotten it at all yesterday
I think when developers make bad design choices that harm the community and aren't fun, that they need to be let know.
and when they REPEAT those mistakes, having ignored the feedback of the first time, they deserve to be lambasted over it.

The community should not be at each other's throats, the community should recognize who's truly at fault and be at ZOS's throats.

ZOS learned nothing from the great shadowfen node camp debacle. Makes you wonder if they have the same teams designing the same things across chapters, or if they change whether they adequately inform the new people, because they messed up surveys in high isle as well, so it seems someone didn't get the memo about them.

Are you sure they learned nothing? Seems to me they learned if you put something desirable in a low population zone players will fill that zone. Not saying it was a good lesson to learn but...

here we are all in one zone.

What good does it to bring people to the zone if they are all crouched in one spot spamming 'e' and not actually doing the content?

Imagine spending days if not weeks ONLY standing in front of a safebox with 2 dozen people and not get a lead....Thats sounds like a game I enjoy to play....
Its not challenging, its toxic...The amount of hate that is spread (in chat and in real life) is crazy.

Is that the message we are suppose to get playing this game - Spread hate?

Could have prevented a lot of that by just putting the lead in something challenging

Out of curiosity I went to Murkmire and somehow managed to open one of those safe boxes (I got lucky & won "E" spamming contest). No lead drop, though, but my finger now hurts... :/

What was rather very sad is to see how other players camping safe box react to it. "Their" save box vanished. And they started accusing each other of opening it... I pretended it was not me and walked away.... It seems that I won't be even trying to farm this lead till situation changes. I don't want to be mass reported for um... idk... "stealing" something that does not belong to any one in a 1st place. People in Murkmire are just losing their nerves & mind.

ZOS. You need to address it. The longer you wait, the worse it will be to fix that mess. Staying quiet & keeping "the status quo" won't cut it and it is only making the situation worse.

    Edit:
A good old fashion text in green "we hear you" would be good. You don't need to come up with the solution right away. Just acknowledge that the problem exists.

    Greetings all,

After some review, we would like to remind everyone that all posts should be kept civil, constructive, and within the guidelines of the community rules we have in place. Specifically we would like to call out our rules on bashing. We do not permit the bashing of individuals (including ZeniMax employees), groups, or other companies on our forums. We believe that doing so is neither constructive nor in spirit of our game and community.

If there may be any questions in regards to rules, please feel free to review them here: Community Rules

Could have sworn it was just a couple of weeks ago ZOS said they were listening to us regarding their over-moderation to silence dissent on the forum. Guess I got my hopes up for nothing.

This is 100% correct, and moderators coming on here with a "play nice" message rather than listening and trying to understand just comes off as the act of bad faith that I sadly believe it to be.

    Greetings all!

Just wanted to quote a post on the matter:
Hi All, we are working on clarifying this issue with the Dev team. We probably won't have an answer until tomorrow. The team has been chatting about this throughout the day, hence the delay in response. So please hang tight while we work through this.

Lastly, please do not jump on each other here please. We understand the frustration, but it isn't helpful for anyone involved. The last thing we want is for moderations to have to constantly snip or remove comments.
This quote can be found here.

We would also like to remind everyone that Bashing is a violation of the Community Rules, so we ask that all comments/posts be kept within the guidelines. If there may be any questions in regards to the rules, please take a few moments to view them here.

Thank you Greg for the update! We would all love for a more user-friendly approach to this lead so it's very great to hear the team is working on it. Best of luck to them finding a fast and good solution for everyone.

It's times like these that should come as a reminder that ZOS is a corporate entity and therefore cannot simply promise a solution before teams have deliberated over the issue and proposed some. If this were an indie company that can be fast and loose with promises then that would be a different story.

And no I don't want to hear people quote me and say ZOS is fast and loose all the time. Most of what they promise, they do deliver, it just takes more time to deliver and things can change along the way. We aren't privy to everything that happens inside the studio.

The problem is you don't ignore your customers while trying to figure out what your response is going to be. That type of non-response is what causes the player base to blowup both in game and here on the forums. It is at times like this and yesterday that they should acknowledge the player concerns as early as they can. It is ok to say they do not have an answer but they will let us know when they have one. It is called timely communication something other corporate entities do on a regular basis.

We aren't jumping on each other here, we are frustrated. You should apply this same level of moderation to the people in Murkmire if you are worried about player conflict so much.

As said above, it's very, VERY simple to solve this lead issue. Make it so you can get it by pickpocketing citizens in the zone. Everyone can pickpocket the same guy because those cooldowns are player-individual, unlike safeboxes. No big deal then. But this safebox lead is just mocking the money we spent on the expansion.

That would make it far more doable but, it'd still likely kinda stink because so many people are after it.

NPC's can only be pickpocketed so much before they are empty and players will likely kill them.

The NPC's in Murkmire also have a habit of respawning empty frequently.

I was pickpocketing them for a while in Murkmire when I heard the rumor people got it from pickpocketing. As the rumor was repeated more people started doing it more and killing the npcs and it became hard to find anyone to pickpocket.

I was able to get this lead in my lunch break today, most likely quieter as people are working. Got it on the 4th picked safebox.

Waiting around for a safebox to spawn, and hoping you get to it before someone else, is not fun gameplay.

@ZOS_GinaBruno remember when you asked on Twitter about how to have better communication?

    This. Would. Be. It.

Multiple threads with 3-8k views and hundreds of comments containing people who have very legitimate complaints.

The kilt lead in shadowfen was extremely unpopular and caused a ton of contention in game. People shouldn't have to fight over a node and sit there for hours to get a lead.

But for some reason the decision was made to duplicate that with ore nodes for the oakensoul ring. That would have been bad enough, but wait, there's more.

Sending thousands of players into one of the smallest zones to fight over an EVEN smaller number of spawn locations (strong boxes).

ANY type of communication on this matter would be appreciated.
Some action would be even more sensible.

@ZOS_Kevin please notice this as well.
