Such a bad take, this mythic is popular with all player demographics. The kilt only appealed to end game pver's tbh.

Also I'd much rather run around and farm nodes, then stand around a box spamming E with 10-20 other people.

I'm not one to complain but trying to get this lead is miserable and zone chat is toxic because people are so frustrated. Make it difficult but at least make it fun. 15 people standing over each box spamming E for hours isn't fun.

How about not trying to do everything in the first 24 hours, wait a few days

You mean wait a few months.

This will be changed. They will add the lead to other sources. That's my prediction.

This is giving me serious classic Everquest camping flashbacks, where you'd have to spend hours or days at a single spot waiting for a single spawn that might drop what you want, and meanwhile others are there itching to get their turn...it was an experience I do not want again in a MMORPG but here we are.

    It's gonna be nerfed anyway.

a [snip] card game and now this Murkmire fiasco?

There's a brand new area to explore and someone thought it would be a good idea to funnel everyone into Murkmire for days on end and bore them to death.

    Gaming at its worst.

Calm down. Take a breather. Make sure you check your email for bethesda forum comments. [snip]

That did in fact happen, and it worked and the sources for the lead were increased.

I was trying to think of any reason why it is designed the way it is. I doubt it was done randomly. I also doubt it was the "last minute change" ("Oh, no we forgot to code the lead to drop, so put it... anywhere").

I think that maybe, ZOS has some internal data on, let's just say "popularity" of every zone. Both Shadowfen & Murkmire are not very popular and for the most part kinda empty. So maybe, just maybe they gave some dev a task to: "Make it so that the zone will attract more players, so it would be visible in our statistics data."... and so the poor dev did what he/she was asked to do... In a very twisted & soulless way, but goal was achieved. Murkmire will be flooded with players for at least 6 months... :|

At least this is the only explanation I can think of... :disappointed:

Let every box in the zone drop it... Treasure boxes, thief boxes, lockboxes... everything. At least that way it will increase the chances somewhat.

I personally find this fiasco a significant drain on my desire to play the game. I don't believe they made a mistake, since they had to realize this would be a huge bottle neck and it would negatively effect the community. Things have not improved after a day, and I don't expect it to any time soon unfortunately.

Same. I deliberately waited to see what the BS method for obtaining the lead would be after the kilt situation as I sadly expected this kind of [snip] from ZoS.

I was excited to see an official reply, then I realize it is simply there to remove any criticism of ZOS for what only amounts to a bad decision.

Serious question. Can we not criticize ZOS any longer? I have never once in my 1 billion comments on these forums called out a specific dev by name. I have praised a few over the years, but I would never personally attack one of them.

We went through this in shadowfen. It was so clearly a bad decision then, and it was doubled down on with this new lead. Are we just supposed to rejoice that card game and camping safe boxes with 30 other players is the sum result of the new chapter?

To be fair, there have been at least two previous mythic leads in lockboxes that did not get this kind of controversy.
The main difference is that both (spaulder of ruin and pearls) are 100% support sets for organized groups. Like the kilt, this is a dps set that's usable in less organized situations, and there's definitely a lot more water and plant nodes in shadowfen, with faster respawn, than lockboxes in murkmire.

Any type of PVE DPS mythic is going to be aggressively farmed during patch day, throw in PVP functionality like this has and its just gas on the fire, throw in an object that specifically caters to the masses by simplifying combat, and it might as well be napalm. Nothing is the least bit surprising about what is happening.

I am just glad I already voted with my wallet by not pre-ordering.

This could not be further from the truth. Yes, threads will die out because people stop talking about the subject eventually, but calls for changes persisted and only ceased when changes to the drop were made. Feel free to do some searching and look - it's what happened.

I don't get why ZOS did this to us again. It places a significant burden on dedicated players and fosters toxicity, when socialization and collaboration should be the goal.

I'm not even going to bother with it until everything has settled down. It really burns me out. I'll just limp on with whatever sets I have now, I guess.

I never post anything in the forums. I'll open an exception this time to offer this feedback. I usually play after my baby is sleeping, in order to relax. Well, I haven't been relaxed ever since this lead came up. Honestly, a new expansion was supposed to hype and motivate us, not make us feel foolish for playing the game.

I sincirely hope you'll reconsider this. It's truly disappointing.

Ya just adding my voice here also, this is the least enjoyable thing in the game I have experienced to date.

IMO players competing for limited resources is poor design. When it involves mechanics like spamming the same chest for hours, that's truly horrible design.

Contrast with say simply a very low drop rate on an activity that is at least semi enjoyable, and might at the same time have some other minor rewards along the way.

I do think the designers have a sick sense of humor, because the above is just not that difficult of a concept, they know exactly what they are creating here.

Their usual response is to ignore critical feedback and just tell people to stop complaining because it hurts their feelings.

They never think "okay we did a thing last year, it made a lot of people upset and made the community angry with each other, and at us, maybe we should do things differently in the future"
