By the way, I'd like to see a video of ANYONE killing thousands of trolls (or whatever add). Thousands? Any idea that amount is? Thousands as mentioned above? I'm positive you know. Still, seeing someone killing thousands AND thousands (meaning at least 2k plus of the same adds) would be nice. Otherwise, people tend to exaggerate numbers. To me? It just took me hundreds of kills per type of trophy, some of them less. I can assure you NONE of the trophies took me one thousand kills, not even 500 kills. None of them.

For me, my first ghost trophy left me with about 1.5k regular ectoplasms in my inventory--and ectoplasm isn't a 100& drop from ghosts. I had even more chitin from mudcrabs when farming the mudcrab one. I didn't take a video, but yeah.

I'm sorry, but FOR ME, no video or proof it's just words and exaggerating numbers. Who kepts 1.5k of ectoplasm in their inventory when ectoplasm doesn't even go to craft bag? And they only stack to 200, right? And 1.5k didn't take all the inventory of your character?

I have 200 inventory slots. 1.5k ectoplasm is 8 slots. I'm genuinely confused how that is unbelievable

It would have been interesting to see how many one have gotten from each type over the years. Ecto plasm was one of the last ones I got back in the day, but that same day I got 5...... As soon as you get one you will see them every where. Even the skeleton one, do just like one Banished Cell and most team mates usually get 1 or 2 of them.

And for the guy that thinks a thousand overworld mobs is a lot.... There are builds that can essentially one shot those trash mobs, or if not one shot, two shot. Have been for a long time, some mobs are ridiculously easy to farm. For example when I was farming for the Wolf and Bear trophies I went to Shattered Grove in Auridon, one lap around the areas is easy 40+ mobs, they respawn at a speed to where they are back up when you have completed a lap, a lap takes maybe 3min, keep going for a few hours and yea its not hard to get to a thousands mobs killed. Probably spent about 3 days on that spot too.

It's funny how someone asks for proof that people are killing thousands of mobs and then when people explain how they keep track of numbers, they turn around and go "lol why are you doing that that's so suspicious that numerous people have the same idea of tracking kills by collecting drops". They also then demand people stop collecting the drops and stop counting. Like yep, when people are doing things that don't fit your narrative just tell them to stop.

Fun fact, every time we have a "kill 150 mobs" weekly Endeavor, I can go to the beach right outside Wayrest and farm the Midnight Union mobs (and the Mudcrabs) there and be done with the Endeavor in like 40-60 minutes. It's not nearly as hard or time-consuming to kill scores of overland mobs in a short period of time as some would like to think. For my example it might take around 7 hours to kill 1k mobs at the spot I mentioned.

This, combined with the fact that ESO has been live for almost 8 years and that a large number of people who've been here for a better portion of those years are still missing so many Trophies, makes it clear there's a problem. I do general questing and exploration and stuff on my main, the character I made at launch. She's easily killed hundred and hundreds of any given overland mobs, if not thousands. No one should find it hard to believe that others have killed thousands of any particular mob in the course of 8 YEARS. And the fact that there are a lot of us that still haven't gotten the Trophy drops from numerous mobs despite all this?

A smaller number of people having the good luck to get these things in a short period of time doesn't invalidate the large number of people who have been working for months or longer at getting things to drop that are tied to COMMON Dyes. Just because a hundred people win a multimillion dollar jackpot doesn't mean the odds of winning still aren't insanely low. There is inherently an issue with drop rates on most Trophies when people can play for years and years and still wind up missing a majority of said Trophies.

If I can kill 1k mobs in 7 hours and I decide to do this three days a week, that's 3k mobs. The fact that someone can kill that many mobs, whether in a week or over the course of several years, and not get the Trophy associated with those bosses, means there is inherently an issue with the drop rates. Especially because again, the fact that some are ignoring is these are connected to Common Dyes. It shouldn't take years and years to get what you need for something indicated as Common.

I started playing ESO at the beginning, about nine years ago. I completed the monster hunting achievements only three years ago. That’s how long some of the drops have been broken and how low the drop rates are. There was for the longest time only one place to get the flesh atorach drop, in the public dungeon in coldharbor. Hopefully that got fixed.

Yes, that problem was fixed obviously. I recently spent several hours killing Flesh Atronachs near Abamath in Malabal Tor and eventually got the drop.

But I'm stuck on the Frost Atronach trophy now. That would be the first trophy collection I can complete - if I ever get it.

Surprisingly i got the frost one last week while I was running circuits around the atronachs in Reapers march last week (I was using them for the weekly inflicting poisons as they last long enough to get a few LAs in). They spawn very quickly which is their saving grace!

    RNG is always like this.

Six years ago I managed to get like 70% of these parts, but it was taking so long I gave up. Recently...ish, I resumed the hunt and finally finished. Back then, I remember clearly spending something around eight real-life hours non-stop in Glenumbra for the Lurcher part. It's an astonishing amount of time, but it eventually dropped.

Then recently I had the same problem with frost/Shock Atronachs', Wamasu's and Jackal's parts. It ALSO took a very good while, but as near as the time it used to be.

If I had to take a wild guess, I'd say that if a creature is rare in the Aurbis — meaning there aren't many farmable places — you'll get it faster (AFAIK, jackals have only 3 decent places with small groups of them). Now if a creature is used a lot, like wolves, it WILL take a long time BUT versions of these creatures that are harder/time-consuming to kill (like World Bosses) will need less time (got the "Buzzing Spine" from Wamasus at my first shot killing the Wamasu World Boss after killing the regular ones in Shadowfen countless times)

Another good location for the frost atronach one is in one of the rooms in The Lightless Oubliette in Coldharbour. That's where I got mine. I liked that place more than Reaper's March at least.

Total respect for the dedication and rigorous testing / research going into this. But I think that, ultimately, you are not intended to grind for these things. If they hid very very good dyes behind these rewards, then you absolutely would have a lot of players grinding out these kills, farming generic overland mobs. The fact they are pretty ordinary suggests they want you to get these things passively.

To me, I like the idea of getting a weird, unexpected achievement and dye 5 years into the game that you had no idea you were even working towards getting.

Yes, I was pretty sure that achievements like these were ZOS's way of making it clear that the intention of achievements is not "to get them all." These, and the werewolf and vampire ones which you cannot even be at the same time.

Then AwA was released. So I guess maybe this is the real end game...

I have them all in 4 different characters.

Was missing 5 I think for my 5th characters. But you know what? Now they are all already unlocked. There's literally zero point for me in farming these ever again. One less source of entertainment for me after this patch. But I digress.

There's a trick to getting these. Seems to me that you're just farming them wrong...

With the AWA I got all but 5 items. Managed to kill scorpions in Reaper March for one of them and is now down to:
Brass anklets, knotted heart, crypt jar and buzzing spine.
Last one is from Wamasu who is the huge 4 legged lizards in Shadowfern.
Probably an hard one as they are not very common and spaced well out.

Post AWA I'm still missing a few, but the consolidation did get me the atronach achievement, which is nice. I can't seem to find the Nereid Temple Cave near Dread Vullain to work on the Brass Anklets, so the next thing on my agenda is the Ogre's Toe Ring...now I get to stab ogres in the face and loot their feet for jewelry. Not weird at all.

There’s a quest in Shadowfen that has 5-ish wamasu all in a little unmarked cave. You can enter the cave even without the quest active, iirc, and they respawn pretty quickly. This is where I got the buzzing spine for mine.

Another spot to farm wamasu is in the Gray Mire in Grahtwood. There's about 5 wamasu somewhat close there and the first respawn around when you have killed the last one depending on speed.

AWA gave me a few more trophies on my main, but still missing a bunch. But two are only missing one, which is Elemental and Nature, which are missing crackling lodestone and Lashing Tentacle.

The Nerieid temple Cave is at the end of the longest road inside Dread Vullain, if you do the quest there with the dead Bosmers there its the last part of the quest but you can enter after you done the quest, not checked if you can enter before but assume so.

Ironically I just did that quest for the 7th or 8th time a couple weeks ago and had no trouble finding the cave then. But once I decided to farm nereids for the trophy I was just running in circles utterly failing at navigation. One of my awesome guildmates went there and sent me a screenshot, so I was able to figure it out. They're not giving up their anklets though.

Very true. I've spent a LOT of time in game and never used a mini map, but just when I get overconfident about knowing where everything is, something like this happens.

After I do a bunch of fruitless loops there I head down south to Carac Dena for some ogre-poking...they're not giving up their toe rings either! Just give me your jewelry already!

Yeah, when I farmed brass anklets I rotated between that world boss in Reapers March and the waterfall areas around Elden Root.

Also I got my 17th chattering skull today in Direfrost Keep. I think someone mentioned before, that some places seem to drop certain trophies really consistently. I definitely think so, at least with chattering skull. I get one very often in the same places in (I don't think anyone ever has an issue with chattering skull, but just in case)
Direfrost Keep-the add pack right before the tunnels up to Iceheart
Banishing Cells-in the halls before the room with the two buttons
Forgotten Crypts-specifically the group of skeletons in the room with the Forgotten Sheriff, the northeast corner

I go to Forgotten Crypts often, like whenever there's an endeavor for killing with class skills and stuff like that, so I can definitely vouch for that spot.

I've wondered about character RNG seeding issues with these drops. Some of the items I get all of the time and some I've never gotten on my main, but got quickly with other toons that I have almost no play time on. Over 400 days of slash played time ago, I just figured that these drops would happen on their own over time. At this rate, my casual play will probably get me Grand Overlord before a Crypt Jar.

for me, i got the crypt jar in alikr public dungeon, i camped the area near the group event boss that gives the skill point as there are at least 4 mobs within easy reach

i think it took me a couple hours of camping there with mirri to get a drop (this was like the 3rd or 4th time i tried doing it, i usually camped for like an hour or 2 before getting bored)

Got them all as well, had given up on these when I had like half of them (has played since beta). But all of a sudden I got the storm atro one from a boss in Tempest Island, which made me start the grind again. By grinding like 2 days a week maximum 4 hours or something like that I got the achievement in 4 months. So it's totally doable, and I might have been lucky it seems by the look of all the answers here.

My by far best tip is to farm them in group dungeons. The drop rate is a lot higher in there (which was also stated in patch notes some years ago) so if you're not farming in there you're definitely doing it wrong.
