Yes plz make this go live. I am so sick and tired of having to get achievements on each toon.
Side note- not everybody wants to grind out achievements on each character. All my character slots are full. There are really 3 that I play and of those three one is my Main with over 130 days game time. The second has 120 game time logged (played him hard after that time they nerfd mdk) and my third is at 60. Been playing since beta on PC so those of you saying don’t do this ZOS,…well you don’t speak for me.

    ESO+ cancelled.

Barring a few class specific skills, my characters are now all "progress clones", with their 100s of hours of individual progress removed. Nice one, great work (sarcastic slow clap).

This is no longer a RPG.

In one "disrespectful and unthought through swoop" you have just removed all enthusiasm I had for replaying the game.

Maybe I'll pop back for expansions, but I'll only do them once of course, cos it would be crazy to want to replay them!

    Sheesh

Not having Undaunted skill line level up with achievements imposes a MASSIVE time gate on levelling up a new character. Currently, if I so wished, I could make a new toon, get it level 45, and find a competent group to do base game trifectas to accelerate the skill line progress. Even if the Unduanted XP from the daily quest and pledges is increased 10-fold (and I'll bet it's far more modest than that, someone can confirm), there is still the fact that the progression is hard-capped on a 24-hour cycle for one of the most essential group-play skill lines across all playstyles.

So not only is the system destroying the only means of historical character-identity we have, it is actually introducing QoL regression, and making this progression more mind numbing and grindy (no one wants to do undaunted delve dailies, sorry).

This change is one of the best ones in years, newer players will actually be able to fill out that achievement book realistically now and won't look at it like a lost cause. And with the hybridisation changes we are getting as well, this game is feeling more like and Elder Scrolls game than ever.

The main thing I think this improves is getting rid of players who sell achievements, farm runs, trifectas, even emperor is sold by endgame communities. They could carry people for free out of the kindness of their heart, but where is the profit in that?

I do want spellcrafting, but I love card games. I honestly wanted a multiplayer minigame system for a long time, so I'm glad the team delivered. Playing against my wife with some stakes will be fun >:)

This won't end the selling of achievements. If anything the prices will just go up.

I love this. Good to not have to do annoying achievements on alts and be able to switch on the fly without worry.
I do think that completing endgame content should have more rewards, maybe similar to how vAS has an additional polymorph---which can be sold and incentivizes replays. Some things could be mounts (less flashy than trifecta mounts), outfits, exclusive trial motifs, mementos, and all other assorted stuff.

All of the things you listed for benefits can and do exist In live. Just because zos does some account wide thing doesn't mean they will add more rewards to it. On the contrary they will likely have less.

Thank you for account wide titles with this. With how BGs are now it's the only way I would be able to have appropriate and immersive previously earned titles on some later made alts.

Let the vocal people have their optionality if it's what they are asking but a lot more of us asked for this change for a long time. A few addons and no one will ever remember they need tracking or pop-ups in a few months because modders will find a way to make it. Or maybe it will be an official addition. On release or in the next update.

Just don't take back hope from people who are very exited for this change only because they have no need to bombard the forums.

If you can find a way to make the addon work with the new system reliably. Or how to code it so that it won't fail then please enlighten me.

If the motivation for doing account-wide achievements and in this way is to reduce the size of account data on the server then please consider making the current character based achievements client side only - that way you get your per account data reduction and we get to keep the existing system which has reliably and enjoyably served us for many years.

Out of curiosity, where is this notion coming from? I've seen a few players mention it, but there was nothing in the patch notes about their motivation for converting to account wide achievements. Did they state that it was for performance reasons on some other social media?

So now I can't tell what dungeons and group events or questlines I need to go get the skill points from on a given character. This is really really screwed up and broken.

Account wide achievements are a great idea but implementing them by deleting all the existing ones and mashing stuff up so all the addons break and you can't actually see important things you need to know like dungeon progress per character is actually dumber than dark convergence.

    Still easy to do
    Group event arent included
As for questline and dungeon, as long as its not whitevon the map, the quest isnt finished

Unfortunately I do not have room on my comp to download the PTS right now. Could someone check something out for me?

I love looking back on my oldest characters and seeing when they hit benchmarks, like Slaughterfished achievement, or Level 10, seeing back in 2014 or 2015 when they got it. Will these achievements and dates be gone completely once they merge?
There is still a date, but from what I can tell, it takes the earliest date of any character that earned the achievement. The character-level specificity is completely gone. Only the oldest remains.

    Thank you for looking.

It’s interesting to note that the people against this change are giving detailed explanations as to why they feel it’s wrong. On the other hand, the folks in favor are mostly giving generalized praise as to why they like it. “I’m so happy about this change!” “It’s good for the game!” Well, let’s hear exactly what it is that makes this such a good thing for you.

For me personally achievement system is a checklist of things that the game suggests I should do in order to get a full experience. In a single-player games once I have all the achievements done, I consider that I have done everything that the game has to offer, and sometimes hunting for one or another achievement while being a frustrating experience, feels satisfying when completed.

After playing gw2 for years (which has global achievements), coming to ESO and finding that in order to get all achievements I have to pretty much create a jack-of-all-trades character who specializes in stealth, PvP, endgame group content (dd, heal and tank), crafting, questing in all maps, being a werewolf and then vampire etc. With the inventory limitations, costly (time and money wise) set crafting/acquisition and respeccing, the idea that I would be locked to just this one character/class to achieve all this felt mind numbing. I did want to play other classes after all.

So I caved in and made several other characters, one specifically as an endgame healer, one strictly for PvP, one for thieving/murdering and some more. Some of those achievements took me months to complete, some trifectas took many frustrating weeks, and I am yet to try trial HMs. And it is frustrating that the titles that I get after all this hard work are just stuck on the characters whose single purpose is to do one task and I play them only occasionally.

Do I want to redo some of these long collections, mind numbing trial achievements, trifecta runs, PvP titles on my main? Absolutely not! I have dedicated, specialized characters for these activities. But I do want all of them, especially my main, to enjoy the same benefits as the others, and yes, titles included. In my eyes, all of my characters work towards the same goal but from different angles and I really appreciate that now that goal is unified. So I really welcome this change.

I get that, and support it in principle.

Requirement: add something new > a way of showing / tracking achievements at account level

Proposed Solution: take a whole bunch of stuff away > remove all individual achievement progress, both historical and future

    It's simply a terrible proposal.

When I first read about this change, I was really happy. The reason for this, is that I really want to get all achievements on my main, but because of the class my main is not the best at doing some things. When we're going for group achievements I usually get the question if I can relog to my Necro. I can, yes... But I want to get the achievements on my main!

So hearing about this change made me happy. I still have to get some Battleground achievement and I would be able to do that on a class which I enjoy playing more in BG's, and I would be able to play 'the best class' more often in PvE.

When looking at how it was implemented, I was severely disappointed. It looks rushed and botched. Why not the best of both worlds? Give us a tab with 'Accountwide achievements' but still give us the nice feeling of getting achievement pop-ups for new characters even though we already have that achievement 10 times.

So despite me being happy with the idea, I'm still left dissapointed...

I value my characters as individuals. This feels like an assault on that individuality. The record of my 18 characters' past achievements will be wiped out for the most part. Data will be lost to me - e.g. the date they all completed Soul Shriven in Coldharbour which records their character creation dates (Edit: just noticed this single achievement is kept character specific).

Going forward, one aspect of character development will be removed by this change. The value of the game is reduced.

    This is painful for me.

Any benefit some players will feel as a result of this change seems far outweighed by the loss of others.

There has been a desire for account wide achievements in the community for a while. The way this is implemented looks like ZOS just needed another feature for this patch and this seemed like a low-hanging fruit, so they quickly put it together. It does not look thought through at all.

It basically reduces the number of "meaningful" activities per account. Players will spend less time completing achievements on alt characters, even in content they enjoy. That means that people will spend less time in the game, which is one of the most relevant metrics for the game's success.

I really like running dungeons with guild mates and one of the reasons to pick a specific dungeon is that I have not done it on one of my chars. Going into a vet DLC dungeon with everyone on some odd alt, maybe in an unfamiliar role, are some of the most entertaining dungeon runs. Without an incentive to complete any dungeons on alts, those are much less likely to happen.

The way I would have liked to see account wide achievements is in addition to the character specific ones. For some achievements it does not really make sense to have them per character, e.g. housing. But for the most part the existing ones have been created to be per character and should remain that way. Account wide achievements could be added to that. There could be additional meta achievements for completing something on multiple characters. There could be achievements for completing dungeons or trials in each role. All the slayer achievements could have account wide counterparts with even bigger numbers.

As I said in an earlier post, I could settle for having all achievements account-wide but with additional tracking on character level with the notifications still going off on each alt. But that would be the minimal solution, not an actually good feature.

Some repeatable content is lost. It's hard for me to test this properly without my EU chars on the PTS, but...

Some collection quests are tracked by Achievement dialogues, e.g. Relics of Summerset. It looks like these are not repeatable now. I just tested this by getting the Monochrome Paintbrush ticked off on one character, logged in on another character and found that it was no longer there for them to pick up.

Has anyone seen what happens to the adoring fan and Choixth? Are they only going to appear for the first character now (or never again in my case)?

What, the box wasn’t even there for you to pick up on a different character?! So you can’t even do the quests AT ALL on different characters? [snip]

    This is incredibly utterly rubbish.

Genuinely trying hard to stay polite but its getter harder with every new ‘revelation’ about this change.

Honestly, just make it a purely "opt-in" or "opt-out" scenario where both parties win here. One side gets to stick to their farming for the same achievements over and over again and have their sense of progression and "RP" whilst the other side can get what they want, without having to redo A L L of the content again on an alternative character, especially content they necessarily didn't like.

I see as well people people have extremely little faith in ZoS to the point where, recently even some are quite content saying "This will make ZoS add less content to said dungeons, or trials" or "This will make the prices go up" Which I quite disagree with (Being an end game raider myself in the game lmao) This has the potential to be extremely beneficial for both parties (If they do make it that optional choice).
As SeaUnicorn stated, more collectibles, skins, furnishings, maybe those "fragments" to gather to put something together. People are saying "Well those systems already exist in the game" Yes, no kidding lmfao, but it lets ZoS openly add these to harder content as well (Dungeons, trials) to give those players that need a little extra "incentive" to grind them out and collect them if not because they enjoy the content, but because they're a completionist.

At least for me personally and other achievement hunting friends (One of which only has like 1k achievement points from max) Sees this change as an utter win, especially for alternative toons where they won't be forced to go through the absolute slosh of previous content, and like stated, do the content they didn't enjoy just to get the title they want. This won't impact how we play the game at all, because we play what we find F U N, and only do what is necessary to get what we want as well for our characters.

This also allows for people to collect achievements that otherwise their "RP" character wouldn't be able to get and hold because of the "RP" focus they've chosen for said character. Or perhaps, their main character isn't able to do said content because of the RP focus, or they just don't have the gear, or want to PvP on that class, they're able to then get those achievements on other toons and have it be beneficial to their main or other characters. There is a MULTITUDE of benefits that this change can bring about and it allows for us and ZoS to do quite a lot more and get a lot more done.. Just look a little further.

P L E A S E make this change go through, but just add in the option to have it optional for those that don't want it so both sides are happy with it in the end. This can be a major win for both sides here. Or you could even add in a "check box" next to said achievement or achievement line, so people can just select which achievements they want to be shared globally across their account and other characters. Also the addition of a "Journal system" or something of the sort to keep track of WHAT toon got the achievements and WHEN they got them

I was devastated yesterday, after learning that all my individual Character History, that means so much to me and I worked so hard on, would be wiped from existence. But it actually gets worse. The "museum quests" can be annoying sometimes, when they fill up your inventory, but never ever being able to do them again?!

It really seems more and more like no one actually thought this through. Give the players the Global achievements they want to have for so long but please do it without destroying parts of the game others love. There must be a way....

Don't have steam and haven't played single player TES titles since Arena and Daggerfall. I only tend to play MMORPGs these days, for the community and the game evolution (devolution in this case).

A one time unlock for the first character is a terrible concept - I suspect this is for reward purposes. With a true RPG I can play the game through fresh with every character, make different story choices or whatever...

Begs the question... If (after this nonsense goes live) I deleted all my characters, and started a brand new one, would the achievements still all be completed?

Race changes? armour passive rework? this is so different to "losing character level progress / investment" that it doesn't justify any further comment.

You already have add-ons that show account wide achievements. Back this crap out and get back to "adding" content.

P L E A S E make this change go through, but just add in the option to have it optional for those that don't want it so both sides are happy with it in the end. This can be a major win for both sides here.

Yes, and let those who opt out and prefer having character specific achievements have their own perks. Like, let our titles reflect how many times we got the achievement on a different toon. "6 Time Emperor," "16 Time Master Fisher," "10 Time Flawless Conquerer," etc. It would give us reason to keep grinding... to keep updating our titles... while those who don't care and just want to do in-game things once can have their shared one time titles.

Just chiming in here to say I am thrilled about the idea of account-wide achievements, I've been wanting that for a long time, however I was not expecting character achievements to be removed entirely and think that's a bad move. I was really hoping there'd be an account-wide tab (which allows for multiple characters to contribute to the same achievement) AND a separate character tab, not all smashed together into one?

I like to track things on a per-character basis sometimes (like quests/trial/dungeon completions) and get certain achievements on more than one character, which has now become impossible. It also gives credit to characters in unusual ways (e.g. one of my PvE tanks got credited with the 'deal 100,000,000 points of damage to enemies in Cyrodiil' achievement? I'd be surprised if she contributed any more than 5% to that total, she just levelled the skill lines out there).

The way this is implemented, there are less incentives to repeat things on multiple characters because only one of your characters is ever going to be credited, and I can't even see my full account achievement score unless I'm on my main character who has all the motifs anyway which I think defeats the purpose a little.

I think a separate tab for both would make more sense? That way you can see what your characters have done collectively and aren't forced to use the same character for everything if you like achievement hunting with variety, but you also don't lose all incentive to do an achievement on more than one character because they're still earning something separately. It also means you wouldn't have to have random character-bound ones in there. That's my feedback anyway.
