Ok I liked the preview. I am excited to have new companions I solo play because of my life I can't commit to doing stuff with others so thank you.
it looks interesting I can't wait to play.
    the card game, eh.

things I would love to see:
crafting going up to be higher than 50/160 maybe 50/160 champ level 0-100 101-200 201-300 etc
new spells or hits or ultimates at higher levels. the whole 50/160 then just champ levels with no changes to the class after 50/160.

I was a beta tester and couldn't play in 1st person it took you a little while but you got it. I appreciated it. I am a loyal ESO player. but I was hoping for something bigger at some point.

more classes and races would be fun. Maybe a new land could be something with a new race on it. and a new type of craft medium like woods metals and foods flowers and cloths.

New is good reusing old is boring. We are playing money to play this game I would love to see new.

    Thanks for listening.

So obviously this isn't a scientific sample or anything but considering literally only 1 in 5 players responded positively to the expansion and over half responded negatively is there any actual plan to incorporate this feedback into adjusting the final gameplay? Or is this more of a hollow facade in order to present as if player feedback means anything to decision makers?

Would also like to know the answer to this.

They did also send out a survey so I think they really want to know. I wouldn’t expect major changes would be possible at this point at that this data is for future direction and presentation.

Bretons need some love. Hopefully this will add more to the knightly orders and such. I hope to have the option to join a couple.

That's kind of sad. The only thing available on the PTS is the introduction mission, and yet you are saying they already have it all pretty much set in stone?

The game has vastly changed and, despite all the bumps & bugs along the way, it's improved alot since 2014. The retro upgrades to the servers are crucial and have been needed for a long time. Hopefully now with MS $$ we will see much of the problematic base game stuff start to to improve as well.

I plan to resub for another year. At 50cents/day, ESO+ has been the cheapest form of recreation and a place for me to share/hang with new & old friends.

    Happy adventures to all!

@stride067 We have been going through this thread and drafting a detailed report to share with our internal teams. We are working on a few things to share between now and launch to provide additional information and clarify systems like Tales of Tribute for example. Feedback will also be used to make some changes to systems. But that is also going to be informed by feedback from PTS and a variety of other places. We will update on what those changes are through our patch notes as they happen.

The feedback here will also help inform future chapters.

This is pretty much the best possible and realistic outcome here. I think players are excited and pleased about visiting a new land, unlike the last two chapters. The companions aren't a mind-blowing addition given how they already exist but I don't think players are opposed to having more of them. The issues players have with this new chapter are the widespread disappointment/hatred towards the card game and the seemingly bloated price tag for a chapter which many feel is lacking in new features.

There have been too many sales at the current price not to mention the likely corporate revenue expectations to lower the price now. It's just not feasible to add a new feature (be it a class or skill line or something else) to the chapter unless there is something targeted for Q3 which might be rushed into some sort of completed state for release; but that is very unlikely given the nature of software development. That leaves the card game as the focal point of discussion and change.

ZOS is going to have to work their tails off to convince the player base that the card game is a worthwhile addition to ESO. The PR spin for it will need to be apologetic, intense, clever and broad. Rewards for the card game will need to be overhauled as they will need to make the mythic items from Antiquities seem like trash trinkets. The card game will also need to be bug and exploit free as player scrutiny is going to be enormous. If it has major bugs or if players can cheat in it, ZOS will severely damage ESO's reputation and probably initiate a mass exodus from the game. I personally would not want to be a ZOS employee working on any aspect of the card game right now.

That being said, players have a reason to be optimistic as any plans ZOS had for the 2023 chapter will need to be thrown out the window if they do not include what players want - namely a new class and a new skill line, preferably a new weapon or spell crafting. Players are begging if not demanding these features and ZOS has little choice but to comply given the absolutely disastrous reception which players have given to High Isle so far. 2022 may be a bust for ESO no matter what but that should inspire ZOS to give players what we want next year.

I feel that this year's Chapter is very geared towards solo players, and trying to entice the Elder Scrolls players who still haven't touched ESO to join in. Which - as a staff member at UESP - I am 100% in favour of. ESO is an Elder Scrolls game first and foremost, and I find it disappointing how many people still whine about it instead of actually playing. With Antiquities, Companions, the Tales of Tribute card game, Housing, and all of the existing Overland content, there is now so much for solo players to do.

Of course, trying to entice solo players into the game does come at the expense of players who prefer group content. Though PvE players have the 2 x Dungeon DLC packs to look forward to, as well as the Dreadsail Reef Trial (I'm very excited about the Trial, personally), I don't see anything new for PvP players apart from some gear sets and styles. For example, I know a lot of people were hoping that there would be some kind of naval combat added.

I'm also a little concerned how the Account-wide Achievements will be done, since there are certain Achievements which are useful to track the progress of the character you're playing. For example, Level 50 Hero - I'd like to be able to see the date when I started a character and the date when I reached certain progress points. I don't care if the various Slayer Achievements or Fishing goes account-wide (though I feel very sorry for @MyNameIsElias at this point!). I'm actually in two minds about whether Dungeon and Trial Achievements "should" be Account-wide or not, because I see them as an Achievement on THAT character with THAT class and build.

I definitely want to see a very comprehensive article about Account-wide Achievements.

Hey, thank you for the mention!

I'm actually very excited about account wide achievements finally coming. My only pain point is wanting more rewards for end game conent, like trials.

@Artemis_Jade - I'm a casual player as to playstyle. I solo what I can. I've paid a sub for 3.5 years, I buy those expensive houses and I've bought more than my fair share of crates over the time I've been playing (though now I just use SOE mostly), plus I also buy extra crowns when on sale. I log in every day, and being retired, I play for hours every day.

So your diatribe rather hit me the wrong way....

I actually like everything High Isle is offering, non-daedric/world ending plot line, card game fills out the inns a bit which was desperately needed, I like companions so always happy for more there (although I hope they start to have more dialogue options including romance). And an unfamiliar zone with long needed Breton content is very welcome.

With that said, I do not think this is what would offer the most excitement within the community. This game is long overdue for something that improves the combat and ideally that would be weapon skill lines for all of the classes and not a new class. I think at this point even just one weapon skill line next year would be disappointing, this game needs a real shot in the arm. Spellsword plus Spears skill lines could be that breath of fresh air this game needs. I'd also like to see further improvements to base combat and its lack of impact that has plagued the game for so long. Arbitrary number changes does nothing to excite me about this game it just feels like a treadmill. Please make further improvements to the animations, sound and impact of combat. Light and heavy attacks feel like they barely exist, the bow heavy attack is just so dinky.

It kind of feels like we're getting less each year too, I understand you're working from within the confines of a pandemic so hopefully next year is better. Morrowind had multiple quests at one point of interest and now POI usually only have one short quest. Companions while nice, could definitely offer more quests, dialogue options and content that would help increase the play time of chapters.

I don't really care about achievements, but I have about 28 characters.
If achievements are the only reason for alts and any kind of replayability, then I really wonder why I've made all those 27 other characters

Oh, I get that! I have 4 mains - and 58 alts across both accounts both PC megaservers. Yes, I play them all (over the course of a week), I pay full riding training on everyone, I spend lots of gold on outfits, each of them has a house s/he prefers and decorates to suit.... on and on and on and on. I replay content because it's fun.

Locking leads, furniture and other items behind a card game that many players will hate and simply not play is unacceptable. I hated Gwent and I will most likely hate this feature too (I will give it a try though). If I wanted to play a card game, I would buy one. It does not belong in ESO.

I would have much rather seen:
    • Increased housing slots
    • A housing bag (like the craft bag)
    • A new class
    • New skill lines
    • Customizable environmental controls (weather, day/night, etc.)
    • More storage options
    • Barber shop
    • Perks for Master Anglers (custom rods, skins, costumes, better fishing RNG)
    • Account-wide motifs, recipes, blueprints, etc. (I'd pay for that one) This game encourages alt's, but you're punished for it.

    Silivren (Silly) Thalionwen | Altmer Templar | Magicka | 9-Trait Master Crafter/Jeweler | Master Angler | PVE Main - Killed by U35
Jahsul at-Sahan | Redguard Sorcerer | Stamina | Werewolf - Free Bites | PVP Main
Derrok Gunnolf | Redguard Dragonknight | Stamina | Werewolf - Free Bites

Way, way, waaaay back in the days I loved playing Magic: The Gathering. Yet I really don't care for a card game being added to ESO. Personally I would prefer if they just release it as a stand alone game. But time is too short to add anything else worthwhile to High Isle I guess, unless they were already working on something.
On the other hand I am very happy with the hybridisation coming in update 33. Will have to see if I'm gonna buy High Isle on release, or wait for a sale. Questing is what I enjoy most in ESO, but that might just be more fun when the release day crowds have gone anyway.

I think the main reason it doesn't feel like an ES game to a lot of people is the simple fact that you cant mod it. Like two people who play Skyrim are going to have vastly different experiences. Some people make the world insanely brutal and survival-like, others fill it with anime waifus in bikinis.

Whatever the case, ESO doesn't feel like any other ES game to me. I tend to play with some difficulty mods to make stealth important to survive, and you can get a very immerse "ranger-like" experience. You can't do that in this game. Bows feel like absolute garbage and the solo content is so easy it can't be immersive (to me).

If I actually liked playing card games, I doubt I would be online playing ESO.

I'm excited that this chapter is on High Isle and I am still hoping that the writing will be good on the quests. I'm sure the art team will outdo themselves as usual. Fantastic that we don't have to deal with Daedra again or a bloody cult of sacrifice and refreshing that we aren't yet saving the whole of Tamriel once more. I am glad that the Alliance war is getting a mention since it seems that its importance is overlooked and hopefully the new zone will be of decent size.

All in all, though, there isn't enough new to get me excited. Sure wish the Sea Elves would have been introduced as new content with a new race or class. Bretons being front and center are a decent choice, but would have been nice to have something else new to look forward too!

Yes, i pre-ordered the chapter... I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess, and this game is my primarily source of evening entertainment so I support it. There will come a day, though, when I just won't continue and will move on. This makes me sad, as I have been a fan of the Elder Scroll line since it started. :(

I voted for very excited, because I'm generally satisfied, and I'll be preordering because I really like the preorder items this time around. In a pragmatic sense, it seems like a good value for the dollar to me, and I'm sure I will play it and enjoy it.

That being said, I do actually have mixed feelings.

I think the new zone looks great, and I'm glad to see more Breton lore. I love the idea of a more down-to-earth political intrigue plotline, to mix things up, and unlike some others, I usually really enjoy the lore/quests/overland content, so I expect it will be equally enjoyable for me in this chapter.

I'm not thrilled with the idea of account-wide achievements. It's hard to say for sure at this point, but it appears that somewhat more care could have gone into deciding which things will be account-wide and which won't. For the most part it won't affect me either way, but I do agree with others that there are some achievements that are more meaningful for individual characters for roleplaying purposes. I think someone already cited the idea that if you have good characters and shadier characters, you're not going to want murdery achievements applied equally to all of them. I say this as someone who has let some of my purer characters be killed by an NPC rather than kill anyone, with the specific intention of avoiding that particular achievement (for example, if they accidentally click on something and steal it, then the NPC attacks them, I have them sit on the ground while the NPC attacks them rather than fighting back).

The card game is something that I probably will never touch. It's just not something that interests me at all. I personally don't care about antiquities leads for jewelry and such, but I can see why other people would be mad about those being locked behind a card game. (If they start locking furnishing leads behind the card game, I'm going to be pretty annoyed.)

I can see pros and cons for the deconstruction assistant, but given that it's likely to be less rewarding than deconning things in town, combined with the likely high price, I will probably not personally buy this one.

Two person mount: I still love the idea, though I'm not sure that I myself have a need for it.

The two new companions seem fine, and I'll probably eventually get around to picking up both, although I'm not in a rush. It seems like we will continue to get more over time, and two at a time/per year seems like a decent balance in terms of more variety, but not having to quickly grind through content on several new companions at once.

I'm still waiting to hear whether we get any additional character slots. Although I don't have strong feelings either way about not having a new class, per se, if we don't get any new character slots because there's no new class, then I will be very unhappy.

On the whole, I'll be taking a closer look and probably buying this chapter sometime in the next month. I expect when it drops, I will spend a lot of happy hours exploring it. But it is also true that I was incredibly hyped when I saw the first teaser video (kudos to whoever produced that one), and then after the reveal, I wasn't mad or disappointed, but I definitely wasn't hyped anymore either.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Please do not release account wide achievements. This will completely destroy the ability to treat each of our characters as individuals. It also takes away the ability to do the Bard's College achievement for the music box and the Clockwork City achievement for the Precursor, making it so future players cannot receive these items. And having objectives show completed on the map makes it extremely difficult for us to track our individual characters' progress.

Please do not put this through as it is. It will ruin the game for many players, myself included.

I'm really excited for the new location. Tamriel has been my favourite world for a long time, and the art direction at the moment is top tier. I'm ambivalent about a card game though, and sadly I'm finding it hard to justify spending the same amount on this chapter as I would on previous chapters, given how little of value is being provided. Makes me glum, but it's how it is at the moment.
I'm not naive enough to expect spell crafting anymore, and balancing a new class seems levels beyond what is possible at the moment. Even a new skill line may be too much to expect, given we're in the midst of yet another sweeping combat change. But the player base is aching for a new system to sink their teeth into. We see too much of the same formulas and recycled mechanics.

If I could change time, I would have liked to see the Warden class be all animals and trees, and just be a full druid class. Then at some point in the future, we could have had a Solstheim DLC with a frost mage skill line. An extra skill line devoted to frost magic would've been great. But we get cards.

I am someone who's into the lore and especially lore about lost races and mysteries.
Greymoor was mediocre and it did have some issues but the antiquities system made up for that!

Heck we even got Snow elf stuff.
It was awesome. Blackwood disappointed me as once again, there was no mention of the Lilmothiit at all and I would have loved to see them explored, but I really liked the characters and Lyranth is one of my favorites plus we got a more nuanced experience of the Deadlands.

In other words... High Isle is the first time that my hype has been close to 0.
I might be surprised and High Isle was populated by something cool in the past, but as it is now... It just feel like generic human isle with naughty politics.

I was honestly hoping the chapter would have been Pyandonea as some people theorized, I'd be over the moon about that.
I personally don't care too much if there's no major new skill as long as you give me an interesting location with lore I care about. They might surprise me but from what I've seen so far, I remain unconvinced.

I know I'm not in the majority as a lot of people wanted new classes and such, and while that's cool...I don't do alts so new classes mean little to me without a class change token.

As for the Card game...It'd be a cool secondary feature, it really isn't a big deal to me.

It’s not impossible for the Q4 DLC to be Pyandonea (or part of it), the Trial for the Chapter and one of the new Dungeons focuses on the Maormer so they are involved.

I appreciate the need to expand the definition of what this game is, and the ways people can spend their time in it, and to reach out to different people with different playstyles. The card game isn't for me, but I hope it works out for ZOS. The blowback is coming from the unfortunate occurance of this feature with the lack of system stuff people have been wanting for years, and people are interpreting that how they will, but they did say this year would put more focus into fixing the engine, and less on new stuff. Not to say I'm not disappointed to not see the things I really want in game this year, but I do understand it.

I'm really excited to see new Breton content; its something we've been asking for, for a very long time. From what we've got so far, it seems like there's some genuine effort to touch on aspects of the lore that people really care about.

The new companions look awesome. The Khajiit seems like a particularly good idea, in that it is a direct response to the ample appeal for a more morally grey character. Making her a sorceress was a great idea. Honestly, I wish there were more companions on offer, though! I guess voice acting and implementing quests for them makes it harder to do, though. What I'd really love to see in the future is more functionality with companions so that their value increases after you've completed the quests and levelled them. Being able to command them more directly would be absolutely fantastic. I would love to be able to have them target particular enemies, wait, stand on a pressure plate, "go over there", or "be at ease". Having personal inventory associated with them would also make them far more valuable.

The shared mounts is a really cool idea! Unfortunately, I wont be getting it because it looks really boring. If the feature sticks, and in the future they make something that matches my aesthetic I'll grab it in a heartbeat!

I personally don't care too much if there's no major new skill as long as you give me an interesting location with lore I care about. They might surprise me but from what I've seen so far, I remain unconvinced.

It’s not impossible for the Q4 DLC to be Pyandonea (or part of it), the Trial for the Chapter and one of the new Dungeons focuses on the Maormer so they are involved.

If that's true it would absolutely be great!
I hope if that's the case though, that it is only a minor area of Pyandonea. The entire island nation deserves it's own chapter.

The story line and setting of High Isle, I'm absolutely fine with and am looking forward to experiencing. The card game, not interested and I will be very irritated if very good items are locked behind having to play it. The lack of any other useful content like a skill line and QoL additions like an in-game barber shop, disappointing.

Okay, I just realize something. The main story of the High Isle is going to revolve around the idea of the leaders of the Three Banner War actually getting together to end the war, and the main villain wants to stop that because money, right? Rigurt the Bash has to make an appearance in the overarching main story of this whole ordeal, it's what he has been doing all along in the previous zones after-all.

+ Excited about High Isle zone & story quests and possible new Scrying treasures.

    - Companions would be interesting if we could change their hair and use polymorphs. SWTOR set this up well years ago...
    - No New Class (Like to see one focused on 2-H swords like Blademaster Sai Sahan)
    - No New Craft
    - The shared mounts was interesting until we seen them...
    - Card game...what? Hell no. Could care less about it personally.

So most likely not gonna get this dlc anytime soon, maybe next year.

So far I'm rather disappointed. Sure, the landscape will be great, maybe the stories too, but like so many others, I'm missing a real new feature. A card game, which is rather uninteresting for me, is not an incentive to buy the new chapter at the moment. And then there are two female companions - I've been hoping for the past year that we'll get more companions soon because I like the system, but I really can't understand why they can't add a male and a female companion again. This imbalance bothers me enormously.

I feel like Rigurt is the only one who has at least attempted to stop the war (without having a complex plan that just releases a bunch of dragons) and just gets in trouble because of it.

While I am disappointed to have a card game as the main selling feature I do hope that this is setting up for big changes in 2023 to coincide with the behind the scenes rewriting of the code to sort pvp out.

Of course with the yearly gri...cadence of releases all the features of High Isle are set in stone (and would have been for months) and nothing is going to change for now. I just get the impression that ZoS do tend to take their audience for granted sometimes, I hope the reaction to High Isle has hit home and they do something about it. I find it difficult to justify them charging full price for this - as it stands. They are a AAA company with massive resources, unless there is something we don't know coming up?
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.
